Devs, are you gonna ignore the gen speeds for.. mounths?
Toolboxes nerfed? Honestly, the sabo aspect made it a lot stronger and killer's time wasting.
If the Survivors in red ranks are competent - gens will fly anyway, no matter what the Killer does. Survivors are just tough and strong and they have got lots of awesome second chances which work against all Killers players, not only tunneling/camping.
And incredibly poorly designed maps like farm, ormond, red forest, disturbed ward make the gen speeds even worse. Again, why Lery's was changed before those ones? Bcs of the doctor? But for game health it would be a lot, A LOT better if you change farm, etc. and god loops (how long should we wait for breakable walls in Ironworks of Misery?)
@Peanits, @not_Queen please, say something about gens and Survivors' second chances being a bit unhealthy.

It needs to be fixed. Not next year, not in six months, not even in the next patch. It needs fixing NOW.
They need to not only look at the win rate of killers since the Ruin nerf, they also need to look at the dropoff in killer numbers.
The devs are unconvinced that there is a problem with gen speeds. Even if they were right, they need to do something before I am the only killer left playing the game.

Unfortunately, the people in charge of gameplay design don't seem to be required to play the game that much. Genrushing, tunneling, hard camping, and excessively long chases are all things it takes a mediocre amount of time playing to realize are game destroying features and yet they get no attention. The sad part is they're not even that hard to fix if you actually put effort into it instead of just throwing band aids at it.
11 -
It's not being ignored. It never has been, even. We mentioned right away that we'll be watching how the changes affect the game and make adjustments as needed. The first part of this are the toolbox changes. Whether or not it'll need further changes beyond that remains to be seen.
24 -
They said they're not going to touch gen speed
4 -
There's no middle ground. Either gens don't get done, or they all do.
Personally I think some more environmental factors should apply. Like there's already single person only gens. How about activated blockers like a can of kerosene a killer can knock over to block it.
0 -
That pretty much sums it up the problem. It doesn't remain to be seen. It's completely obvious if you play as or against survivors without toolboxes in high ranks. If you can destroy the killer without toolboxes, the toolbox nerf obviously isn't going to stop the genrush problem.
35 -
When you guys gonna rework the objectives? They're boring.
3 -
Can you look at how fast gens are currently being done in games where nobody has a toolbox? If so, you will be able to see if there will still be a problem after the toolbox nerf.
12 -
Toolbox changes are going to allow generators to be completed within 46 seconds. If anything after the changes Im predicting escape rates will increase
3 -
Yes, I agree toolboxes needed some attention but I think you need to go back to the drawing board on the overall gen speed without toolboxes in mind. Given the current state of the game the gen speed is not in a healthy spot. Survivors having the ability to play SWF with communications and the many second chance perks makes it a daunting task for the killer. Many games after my first chase and hook they are already down to 3 to 2 gens left, that makes absolutely no sense. Even when I play survivor i often find myself doing a totem, running to unhook the first survivor and look at the bottom of my screen to find there is only 2 gens left, making it soooo boring.
Either implement another objective in your game making the survivor needing to do more, giving the killers more time to apply pressure or adjust the gen speed. Honestly, after my survivor matches I'm so bored I tend to log off after two matches or so, because they're so easy and boring. Playing killer makes my anxiety run through the roof because of all the second chance perks, tea bagging and the gens flying so fast. You shouldn't have a game where a survivor feels completely safe calling for your attention so they can abuse you through out the map. The killer should put fear in the survivors not the other way around.
I honestly wish we could go back to the day where no teachable perks existed. I believe that is when the game out of hand and unbalanced.
4 -
When everyone keeps telling you it needs to be fixed but your answer is "whether or not it'll need further changes beyond that remains to be seen" can you blame your players for leaving and thinking you're out of touch with them?
17 -
At the moment they are focused on new meg and nea skins. Why should they fix maps? There is no revenue in resolving game health issues.
2 -
And yet you lot are ignoring the games where toolboxes weren't even used.
1 -
They probably don't want to touch gen speeds because working on gens is the most boring thing in the game. I'd rather they come up with a different solution if toolbox nerf isn't enough.
1 -
Something needs to be done about gen speeds and it needs to happen fast. I don't like attacking you but like @JawsIsTheNextKiller said
Killer community is quickly declining. A lot of veteran killers have quit and the remaining killers are holding on by a thread
12 -
Think it’s best to say years or never.
1 -
Well, the issue isn't really Gen speeds....Solo gen speeds that is but with teammates thats more people off generators
Its map size and design
If all survivors get onto a different generator at the start of the game on Mothers dwelling as clown for example, you cannot apply pressure easily as you will lose generators quickly
0 -
You are very probably correct, but right now I would take changing the code from TotalGenTime=80 to TotalGenTime=90 in a heartbeat. Somebody could do that in their lunch break.
2 -
Fortunately the devs look at the whole picture including internal statistics and don't rely on a handful of loud people on the forums who have been predicting the death of DBD and a mass exodus of killers for years now. The same people complaining about how broken and survivor sided this game is are the same people who continue to play the game and buy new dlc even though supposedly they are having an absolutely miserable experience.
3 -
The PTB toolbox changes are a straight up buff. And aside from the toolbox buffs, the game goes by too fast even without tool boxes.
2 -
Play a different game if you find the current one boring. Gens have been the objective since release. If you can’t accept that go play Friday the 13th.

The real question is: what does "mounths" mean?
Is it a synonym of mountain?
Is it the wish of the op getting mounted by daddy myers?
2 -
I agree to a point. But if you can't see that many killers have quit already then I don't think you're paying attention. When I play rank 1 killer I get games instantly and they are against red rank survivors. When I play rank 1 survivor I get games in about 10 minutes and they are against anything from red to yellow rank killers. People can talk about match making being messed up all they want but I don't see any other way to look at it other than there are just not enough killers to go around.
6 -
This is a straight up fact.
The majority of players don’t like playing killer, hence instant Killer queues and 15-20+ minute waiting for Survivors.
4 -
The real question is why are you coming in here acting like an asshat making fun of someone and not even commenting on the actual topic of discussion? 🤷♂️
2 -
Cosmetic and bug fixes/balance are two completely different departments. These guys probably they don't know each other. So, working on skins does not delay bug fixes/reworks/balance department.
0 -
My queues take 5-7 minutes like they have anytime there isn't new dlc or an event.
Notice the "enjoy your 30 minute queues" meme stopped a week or two after the Ruin nerf went live. It's because things went back to normal.
This game is going on 4 years old. If there's any reason for a drop in player base it's because the core gameplay experience has remained largely the same.
2 -
The only time I wait that long for survivor is at like 2-4 in the morning. My queues are 5-7 minutes long.
0 -
As solo or SWF?
I rarely play solo and typically am part of a 3-4 man squad. 10-15 minutes is usually the minimum, and sometimes more if the killer acts like a B and decides to lobby dodge.
0 -
The core game play hasn't changed but players are getting better, as survivors and killers both get better the gap becomes quite large and in the survivors' favor. Ask anyone who has a lot of hours and is unbiased, a good team of 4 survivors whether SWF or solo that just goes and actually does gens will escape basically every game.
This is always the reply, and my reply to this reply is the people are different but the budget is the same. It's time to cut a couple people from cosmetics and hire more programmers.
2 -
They just need to shrink a lot of maps. That's all that is needed. when you load into mothers playing as the clown it doesn't matter if people have toolboxe or not. You just can't get to the gens to get people off them.
2 -
I disagree with your premise. And there's very few people on these forums or reddit or even among twitch streamers I would consider unbiased. Some people are more reasonable in their bias than others. The majority of users here, for instance, when you look at their username you can usually make an educated guess as to what their opinion is going to be.
1 -
I play solo. I can see why swf would be longer
0 -
If gen speeds were never ignored why has it taken 3 years for anything too be done about it? Even with Old Ruin gens were being done way too fast and everyone said this. Why has it taken so long for gens too be even touched?
0 -
I was being sarcastic as new skins come out all the time and DLC's are constantly in development. The point is that the new revenue lines are producing and the game balance is ah, well its ah, maybe only 1 person is assigned to the department?
0 -
my solo q times normally take 2-5 minutes on ps4. sometimes more, depends what time it is. but they aren't long. as swf it naturally takes longer
0 -
Solo queues aren’t bad, but God forbid I’m in a full SWF squad and it takes ages to find a match.
0 -
gens don't need adjustments. they're perfectly fine after toolbox nerfes. that's why they haven't been adjusted.
0 -
Yeah but too bad fixing all map would take around a years while some bugs are still unfixed
0 -
The early game pressure is the core problem, many killers struggle in pressuring enough at the early game. Thats what have to be adjusted.
0 -
While the combination of the 2 is causing the problem and a fix to either would fix the issue, you have to look at which is more likely. Redesigning countless maps (and last I heard, they only have one guy who does maps) or changing how gens are done which will work on all maps? However, we are in a bit of an unusual situation as adding breakable walls to all maps also means a chance to fix the ridiculous sizes of so many problem maps. We can hope they'll tackle both at the same time, but I fear we'll be left in disappointment.
0 -
Devs have to play the game at red ranks as the Trapper since they don't know what's going on there.
5 -
I still think it's a matter of maps being too big/having too many safe things and not necessarily gens going too fast. Gens don't go fast at all once the killer snowballs/pressures survivors a bit, but doing so is literally impossible on maps as huge as Temple of Purgation/Rotten Fields or maps as secure as Crotus Prenn Asylum (unfortunately, the vast majority of maps suffers from atleast one of those problems), from my experience something like Coal Tower seems to be ideal in terms of size and something like Azarov's Resting Place is great when it comes to pallet/window strenght (but that's mostly due to it using almost solely "base" tiles, which are by far the best designed ones).
1 -
Isn’t he like a purple rank killer/green rank killer? No offense but those survivors aren’t exactly operating at peak gen efficiency
0 -
It's becoming clear to me that this game requires much more attention and care than the current dev teams can give. Whether that's due to time constraints or lack of resources, it doesn't matter. I'll come back if they ever decide to do something big and serious about the game's health.
2 -
I actually like this idea. Although in an enclosed map with a 110 killer it may be counterintuitive.
0 -
I thought rank doesn't matter? 😁
