Are the devs testing cross play?
There have been several videos going around of PC Killers playing against Console survivors. recently ScottJund released a video talking about it and I found it really interesting.
Would love to see a dev answer this .

I never want to see cross-over from PC to console. Pretty sure most feel the same way...it would be awful.
10 -
No, you're wrong, it would be the best thing to happen to this game since queue times would be practically nonexistent.
20 -
Yeah and you'd have people on PCs crushing people on console...oh the joy. I'd much rather wait for 10 minutes and not have to face some sweaty guy on a PC. Puppers said it best I think on this...not only no, but HELL NO.
And seeing how buggy the game is now on both sides and knowing the current skill set of the developers how well do you think a cross-over game between platforms would work? In case you weren't aware, the dedicated servers on Xbox for example had to be taken down. The current problems with the game would seem like a well oiled machine compared to the FUBAR a crossover would be.

I hope they are! Cross play would be awesome! I do hope they give us options on how cross play works though. Like the ability to turn off cross play between certain platforms but keep others.
It would be awesome to give players to the option to play with PC and console. If people don't want it they can always turn off the option to do so.

yeah you don't see ps4 players complaining when they vs pc players on fortnite if one of the players is a pc player.
6 -
Yeah and you know why that is? Fortnite isn't DBD.
5 -
and who are you to speak for the ps4 players that want faster que times even if its with pc players?
11 -
I've run into a PC Billy killer on PS4 last week. His name was made up of nothing but dots and next to his name he had a globe. Let me tell you, it was so obvious he was playing on PC because I've NEVER seen a Billy turn so fast before with such precision lol. He killed everyone pretty fast and ended up giving me the hatch since I was the only survivor that managed to loop him lol. He also had the first legacy outfit.

that is what I'm worried about , as a ps4 player, playing against a PC killer such as billy, oni, nurse or huntress would be horrible.
if they do make cross play then I would hope it wouldnt be forced , it would be nice if you could toggle it off and on.

Crossplay is available on all platforms and it was for a some time, ever since the steam x microsoft crosplay. So basically the system is there on every platform, just not used, and probably will never be.
The person you saw was just some hacker/ funny guy who used the fact that the servers are not protected at all and connected to a console server from a PC
1 -
As long as its optional i dont see an issue. While I feel PC players will have an advantage playing as killer those who wish too can simply uncheck the cross play option and can play only with the platforms they choose too.

I am telling you knowing how great things are with this game now that having PC players able to play against those on console would be a total disaster. If PS4 want to play with pc players fine as long as people can opt to not have to face those on other platforms.
1 -
Yes probably a hacker and probably from China.

And the matchmaking system will sort that out.
Rank doesnt give anything and is just a matchmaking tool as is, so you dont miss out not being higher.
2 -
PC players aren't all gaming gods. When Dark Souls dropped on PC the first time, they immediately invented the term artificial difficulty because the majority of them were such scrubs.
DBD is more about positioning than anything else.
5 -
I am more concerned with the competency of those who would make this happen, but there is the fact that various aspects are easier on PC from what I've been lead to believe.

You have no disadvantages as a survivor on ps4. In fact, 360° of movement probably actually gives an advantage.
Playing killer you are indeed at a disadvantage, but mmr, in theory, will solve this part.
There's literally nothing to worry about crossplay
8 -
screw queue times there's movements you can do with a keyboard and mouse you just can't do in this game on console specifically ps4, it would make the game much more irritating tbh. the game is different on pc than console as far as graphically and the how mouse game play is much more effective than a thumbstick.

Bruh, but dont compare DS to DBD, DS is way better on a controller, in DBD killer is better on mouse and keyboard

scott jund played against ps4 players , explain that . he isnt a hacker
1 -
They were probably werent really from the console, they just made the server think they are.
Or the servers finally got busted and now we have everyone getting matched with everyone

The Deathslinger is the last killer of this years roadmap, ultimately there's likely to be a big "Year 5 Roadmap", there's usually significant announcements coming during that time, and I'm certain one will be Crossplay/Crossplatform.
There was no tricking involved, someone who knew Scott took screenshots because they were confused as to why he was there, he had the "Crossplay Planet" symbol next to his name, and it was HIM accidentally joining them making it a 5 man survivor lobby.
2 -
So it was 5 surviviors and no killer?
If thats the case, then one of the surviviors used the glitch (2 killers glitch) to get the 5th survivior into the lobby instead of the killer.
This would explain why this glitch happened so often to big streamers, looks like there is a way to manually connect with a desired player. Platform obviously doesnt matter, because as I said before, servers have no verification.
0 -
And mmr will sort that out...chill

Im all for it, but for those who are fearful for some bizare reason we indeed could just have an option to opt out of that.
But imagine being able to play as PC with Switch and Xbox and PS4...ah one can dream.
1 -
same can be said about street fighter V i have it on ps4 my friend got it on steam we play all the time.
0 -
infact this games kinda easier then fortnite probably because its not like aiming or anything its just hitting skillchecks and doing gens XD
0 -
No, you're not understanding at all, the PS4 players took screenshots of Scott in their lobby because they were confused as heck.
Also the whole "it happening to big streamers" is malarkey, setting up a glitch and just luckily getting those streamers would be incredibly hard, it's just coincidental.
3 -
Yeah, thats what I said
There is a glitch that lets 5 surviviors or 2/3 killers join one lobby.
The weird part is that it was the streamer that got "summoned" from PC to PS4. It kind of impossible for these bugs to happen at the same time, the only explanation is that someone exploited it.
I dont know how exactly matchmaking works, but I guess its possible to have a streamer join a wrong lobby, with a wrong ID...
0 -
Or it's because it's a bug and because theres 1000s of streamers for DBD it's bound to show up on a couple of them, I don't think these guys are "summoning" streamers.
1 -
Exactly, it's not. DBD would have less disadvantages in crossplay than something like fortnite where mouse and keyboard would be much stronger. There's no killer vs. killer mode so controller/keyboard input isn't a great factor.
0 -
When Windows Store crossplay was introduced, we had the option to "opt out". I'm sure you will still have that option if crossplay happens.
I'm sorry to inform you, but there are as many potatoes playing on PC as there are on console. Are there some really good killers? Yes. I've faced some really good killers on console back when I use to play DBD on console. So unless you think you are "top dog" and worried about getting your ego bruised, it really won't be that big of a deal.
Only a small percentage of PC players are playing on really nice machines that do high FPS. On PC, unless you edit game files, 62FPS is the cap. Most people are still using 1080p monitors and sub 60FPS video cards. The competitive edge that PC can give is not owned by most players. And I'm sure of the people that own nice machines, I'm sure some are still potato as the majority of the player base.
2 -
There are still people who think mouse & keyboard players have some advantage against a controller? Back when I was a PC main I only used a controller. It's not that bad. Plus you know when you win it's cause you actually have skill and didn't take the easy way out.
1 -
But its not one bug. Its 2 bugs at the same time. First, server thinks you are a killer and lets you get matched, second, you connected to a wrong server/ connected with a wrong identification.
First bug is very rare and is almost always caused by someone intentionally triggering it, and the second is something I have never heard of before, I thought that it can be done only intentionally

I mean, fundamentally, Fortnite should be worse than DBD for crossplay. Being that it's a shooter. So you're not making any real logical argument here.
On the survivor side of DBD, you gain no advantage whatsoever using a mouse and a keyboard vs a controller. Even 360ing is easier on a controller. On the killer side, yeah, killer isn't as easy on a controller, but that wouldn't put the killers from console at a disadvantage because of the aforementioned survivor mouse/keyboard vs controller bit.
The only real thing console people would notice would probably be on the survivor side. 360ing won't work as well for them anymore, and they'll realize Nurse and Huntress aren't low tier killers (like they are on console).

Prove that statement. If platform A doesn’t have enough killers, survivors have long wait times. If platform B doesn’t have enough killers, survivors have long wait times. If they combine, survivors have long wait times. It’s simple math, and common sense.

Since there is only 1 set of dedicated servers, which is shared across all platforms, it is possible for PC players to hack the files and make the servers think that they are playing on a different platform. Consoles can do the same thing, but they need to modify the packets in transit that are being sent to the server.
0 -
I know you can do that, but it happened WITHOUT changing files. The 5th survivior who played on PC was the streamer, and he didnt do anything.
This means that there must be a way to EDIT theses things on SERVER SIDE, and you can change settings of ANY PLAYER.

You have never seen a flickbilly on console :/

Or, imploring “Occam’s Razor”, it’s simply a server-side bug, which is highly more likely given the circumstances.

I asked a dev on one of there streams and they said it was a known issue ..I don’t know why they just don’t say that right now

I can finally be toxic to my Trusted Members and click my flashlight at y'all! 😍
Please don't kill me :P

I don't think that is what is happening, Scott released a video about it today, he wasn't hacked or targetted, it was always different people, and it wasn't the 2x killer glitch because the matches always ended as soon as they started with no killer present
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plA3FNnd75o
I think they just activated crossplay accidentally for some people.
0 -
I personally would welcome crossplay to every platform, but only once Consoles get optimised at long last. Currently on Xbox the FPS drops playing certain killers/maps is bad.
0 -
Well it WAS the "2 killer glitch", its impossible to have 5 surviviors otherwise.
Match ended immediately because there were 0 killers, same thing would happen if you had 5 killers in a lobby.
Im not sure how could they enable crossplay only for SOME players... Everyone gets the same updates, right?
Hackers were able to do this for a long time, and the "2 killer glotch" gained popularity recently, thats why I think it was it. There is no way to make sure though.
0 -
Except two killer matches always load in except with 3 survivors and two killers = the standard 5 players.
This has nothing to do with the double killer glitch, it has nothing to do with hackers because it's different people loading into the lobby all the time.
Also, glitches happen for different people, I play killer A LOT and I've NEVER had the audio bug of not being able to hear a survivor.
And there is a way to make sure because like I've said, 2 killer matches load up and play out just fine, the 5 survivor lobby thing doesn't, it is NOT the 5 killer glitch, or hackers.

I would also love it, but since I don't wanna waste their time or be annoying, I won't tag them sry :{

If it’s cross play from PS4 and Xbox then no big deal. But pc and console hell nooo.
3 -
Except all the games I've played have cross play enabled by default so if I turn mine off it will only increase que times. Not alot of people on any of 3 consoles want cross-play any time soon so enabling cross would only benefit pc players who want easier games. Also alot of games I've played that have cross-play even when you turn it off you still get qued with pc people & ximmers.
