Why does the hatch get to open twice?
Once with a key, which I close, then again with the last survivor? If the key holder blew their chance at a hatch escape, why offer it again?

Because the Survivors don't already have enough ways to win so BHVR had to give them more.

Yep, pretty much this. Survivors need to be handheld and given as many second chances as possible, because otherwise they might cry and BHVR can't have that. Nevermind this is a game where the killer is suppsoed to tbe the power role and the survivors are supposed to be struggling to survive.

because it is hard coded that when it is down to the last survivor then it will open. honestly i wish it'd give points for a second closure. This has always been the functionality of the hatch, even before because you open the hatch with the key it will close after period of time as well if there is not one survivor left.

How can the key holder blow their chance? If you use a key you instantly jump through, and the reason it opens twice is because dun dun dunnnnn not all survivors are SWF so if you just lock out hatch because some random took it, the other random has no control over that.
Love everyone jumping in and being like "muh survivors need all the help" without actually thinking about why it opens multiple times with a little logic.

Finally, a response by someone with a brain

This is a TEAM game. You shouldn't get a get-out-of-jail-free card just because your team ######### you over

Lol say that to a team that is made over a matchmaking and ranking system that doesnt work. How many times does a killer get his hand held bc the game cant match an effective team together? Yeah thatd what I ######### thought.

This game isn't 1vs1. If your team has bad players, it WILL determine the result of a match. The only issue here is the inability of the current rank system to toss players with the same skill level. But soon we will have a whole new matchmaking. Call it unfair as much as you want but that's how teamplay actually works.

Totally agree. People still have this dilusion that ranks are their skill. It really isn't. At least, not anymore. I keep getting reds and purples that play like Rank 20's. Hiding in the basement as final survivor, or self-caring in a remote corner. Then you have some green ranks who play like rank 1's. The second you have an awful teammate, the game is going to go bad because of that 1 single bad link that will essentially lead to others going down because we're trying to keep them alive. Hopefully the new MM system works!

That's the issue with the ranl system, not the whole concept of teamplay.

Like someone said before, it's about coding.
Let's say there's 3 people and 1 gen left (which is the minimum requirement with 3 people left).
1 person takes hatch out and the killer closes it behind them. There's still 2 people left in the match so the match plays out normally. So if one of those two people dies and there's 1 left, the game goes through with the coding. Last survivor remaining = open hatch. Not that difficult to understand

No, it's because if it remained closed, we would still have the old "hide for 45 minutes" crap we did before hatch existed.
Arguing that the hatch is a free escape is something entirely different than "why does it open twice".

And? The entire survivor sided is busted and unfair due to matchmaking and ranking. No need to nerf the hatch further until that is looked at first. Killers arent supposed to be 4king always anyways.

It is unfair BECAUSE the rank system is busted, not because the overall teamwork concept is bad. The whole unfairness you have now is unintentional. And the issue IS being worked on.
(Funny how you ignore that matchmaking makes yellow rank killers play against red rank survivors but okay.)
