idk how many times I have to explain this but here we go YET again:

Survivors cried a long time ago that it was too hard to rank up

(think about how stupid that is, Rank value is directly linked to the effort it takes to reach it... the easier it gets the less rank indicates in terms for skill)

So...logically...the devs listened and made it ez, so many survivors are now at Red Ranks, im an example, im rank 3 and honestly, I should be more rank 10....

Because of this there are a lot of Red Rank survivors but because killer is harder to rank up, there are barely any red rank killers, sooo..... yeah it will take a while for the survivors in the lobby but eventually they get matched up all the way down to green ranks if not even lower.

This however also means that while you see a rank 4 and think: "dayum so unfair, they are much better then I am because they are rank 4 and im rank 10", this is not nearly always the case.

Ranking is just not 1 on 1, but all in all, its currently a complete mess but the devs are working on it.

Cuz many red rank killer stop playing killer. So not many red rank killer left.

  • Member Posts: 4,506

Yeah, hidden rank will be fine, because rank isnt rank.

Had a game last night I thought was tough, but not hard. Had to play smart but not sweaty. I expected green/purple ranks.

3 red ranks. I'm at 14 killer since reset (and I play more survivor) and got 3 red ranks and a purple.

That being said, it was a 4k. So just being in red rank doesnt actually mean ######### if you cant play.

So why bother worrying about seeing the ranks, when they dont acurately represent anything. 🤷‍♀️

I don't mind vs the red rank survivors my only issue is when I do all the gens pop in like one minute.

  • Member Posts: 3,793

It was happening BEFORE the stream lol, they basically just address it and said it will keep happening and eventually rank will be hidden altogether

If there were normally two murderers, I think I would have met this normally. However, this is a new mistake, 1 killer must come when the room is 4 people, 1 more survivor is coming and the game starts. When we started the game with 5 people, we won the game automatically, and we received 5,000 bloodpoints, and on top of that we got the offers back.

I do not subscribe to this answer. "Rank doesn't equal rank". Rank equals a combination of time invested and effort. What that ratio is, idk. You give an example of your one 4k humble brag match like that means anything.

My issue: I have 250hrs invested into this game @ rank 14. How TF do I get placed against a collective 8-10k+ hours red rank survivors to get ######### on in the post game chat when you can clearly see the rank disparity.

When mm really took a ######### you'd see survivors comment post game "wow bad matchmaking sorry for being ...(fill in the blank)" now the defense is rank don't mean ranks hurr durr.

Whatever you need to tell yourself bud.

Must not have been higher ranked players near you.

  • Member Posts: 4,506

    First, 250 hours. Cute.

Second, one 4k humble brag? Oh no hon, I've got other tales for that situation, but I'm not bragging. I'm explaining how rank isnt anything other than a matchmaking tool, and "high ranks" losing like "low ranks" shows that. Rank doesnt matter.

Third, people STILL say sorry for matchmaking. Hell I say it. But that's matchmaking not working correctly. Rank is seperate, it is what matchmaking USES. rank doesnt matter, and with matchmaking broken, we can see that clearly.

Fourth, rank has NEVER mattered. Its ALWAYS been a matchmaking tool. It had an optimal goal as to how well it could/should work, and hasnt, but it doesnt change that rank simply doesn't matter.

Lastly, I dont have to tell myself anything. I play both sides, and get all kinds of ranks. And seeing it in action, other than pure rank 20s and rank 1s, they're all over the god damn place in term of actual skill.

So, I'm sorry you feel so sour about it, and arent having fun, but rank isnt actually a rank. It's a pseudo mmr and leads people to think otherwise, causing issues in a game where it wont ever be perfectly balanced.

Hope your day gets better. <3

    You've never seen this before?

    You must be new.

  • Member Posts: 7,525

Aren't you literally deranking in the first picture though, only 800 points?

  • Member Posts: 298

I leave the killer afk at night, When I came back, I was going to shut down my system but realized that there was a final match. I came across this scene, you should have understood what is going on with the advantages I already use. Just accumulating shard is incredibly difficult. That's all you need to know :v

This, I am also red rank and i feel more like a 7/8 survivor if I’m honest. I clearly don’t loop nearly as well as a lot of people, but actually doing gens and making smart unhooks gets me to red ranks and then back to rank 1 pretty quickly each reset.

I don’t have exact numbers of course but I feel like maybe 25% of survivors are red rank and maybe 10% deserve to be there if that makes sense

To be fair at one point is was pretty much impossible to get to red ranks and you had to play a specific way whether it was the best way to win or not. And red rank killers couldn't find any red rank survs.. The devs have never had a good functioning ranking system.

Ofc I personally dont believe rank 1 should be inclusive. The best of the best should be there. And the worst of the worst should be at rank 20. If they are going to treat this game like a sweaty competition then their ranking should reflect that and that means not everybody should be able to reach r1 even if they have 1000s of hrs. It should be about being the best, period.

Before the last rank reset or two, my survivor ranks would be around 9-13 because I'm definitely not the best player, but I'm not bad. But now? I'm going up against either rank 1-4 killers, or rank 16-20 killers. Mostly the latter. So now I'm a rank 4. Just because the matchmaking says so with all these rank 20 killers. I guess I don't mind right now because I'm going up against a seemingly random assortment of ranked killers. But I digress. See you in a few days when I officially hit rank 1 for the first time!

I'm confused, all I see is one badass player rocking their skills on some level 1 noobs!

This my friend is DBD giving you and your skills a true challenge!

  • Member Posts: 3,793

We’re you depipping in the first game? The one you got 800 then complained about matchmaking?

  • Member Posts: 2,002

I was thinking the same thing. If you had even attempted to play that game, you would've ended with more points than that, bad matchmaking or not

  • Member Posts: 3,793

I see this a lot, someone like @Raven9 is actually depipping in purpose to play against worse players and then gets matched against people he should be against anyways... irony at its best

  • Member Posts: 3,793

Considering I posted at the same time, which you can clearly see by time stamp, no I hadn’t. So you go afk as killer to get free shards and you’re clearly aware that is going to cause you to derank ending up against people you shouldn’t be. Sounds like the players you got matched with is fair

A very well thought out reply, sorry I called you out for deranking and you couldn’t formulate a good excuse.

  • Member Posts: 298

I wonder, is this your girlfriend who voted for all your comments? ;D

  • Member Posts: 3,793

Lol, you can tell when someone gets caught with no logical response because they resort to jokes and memes. I didn’t realize how right I was, you are so mad because you wanna derank and play against potatoes but the matchmaking being messed up screws up your plan!

  • Member Posts: 298

If this will make you happy, I say yes to your answer ;D GG

I’ve had this happen and the difference is more extreme because I’m rank 15/16. And to those that say rank means nothing, I disagree. It may not be a perfectly executed system but it definitely means something. There should never be more than one color difference in rank between survivor and killer but it happens with alarming frequency. I try to get hints in the lobby of experience level and bail if they are obviously in a higher tier than I am. Prestiged Megs with flashlights? Hard pass. Lol

Bro calm down your acting like its the end of the world😂🤦 its not perfect

  • Member Posts: 3,793

True, it’s just a game. But people like to play fairy if possible against people of similar skill levels.

Would you want to join a rec basketball league at the Y and find out that 1 of the teams was comprised of former NBA players? Would you wanna join a local chess tournament and find out there were grandmasters flying in to play?

    Ty ggwp

Yeah it's just rough trying to start playing to get rolled by rank 1 when you're just scratching the surface of green ranks. Once passing that threshold it's been too frustrating to consider it enjoyable.

I was salty when I wrote that. Rank 1s telling me at 13 to git gud etc post game. Nothing personal just salty at the time.

Same happened to me. Trying new killer with one perk. Sometimes you just got to nut up or shut up.

  • Member Posts: 3,793

I really feel those people are the minority, I have had all red rank teams lately (solo myself) and at the end I always tell the killer “good game, sorry bout matchmaking,” and usually at least one other person adds the same.

I’ve even gone so far as to defend the killer if a teammate says anything like “gg ez,” I say “well it should be easy we’re 10 ranks above him, but he still did pretty good.”

Yeah,I agree with you somewhat. I'm not sure there's a way to make it truly fair and even...AND not have the queue take forever. If they match all the same rank,it'll just take forever. Gotta remember people dodge lobbies they don't like as well. I've never seen anyone that was truly unbeatable. Rank doesn't mean much more than playtime and dedication. I just don't want this stuff to scare off the new players we need...but I also don't want the devs to jump the gun on a system that might make even more of the diehard players want to quit. Hiding the rank might help with one of those issues...but it doesn't solve the major problems that are discussed here literally every day now.

Yes and no. Rank 13s should never be going against a team of full Rank 1s. Seeing as how the devs broke the ranking system, it's on them to make ranks more accurately reflect ability, not for the Killers to deal with it. There is no ELO system in this game, only rank numbers. As long as that's true, they have to balance matchmaking keeping that in mind.

Im still waiting to see what an "unknown error" means. That and why I get a random NAT error every so often.
