killers still standing over hatch a thing?
can killers still stand over a hatch preventing survivors from escaping through it?

Yes. And there's nothing wrong with it if he gets there before you then tough luck it's the killers job to hook you so if he sees the hatch open and catches you that's him playing the game

They can, but if you know they're doing it, you can just do gens.
6 -
Why would they not just close it? Isn't that considered griefing and or toxic? just close the hatch or change it so that the killer's action does not override the survivors? kinda bunk
1 -
No, it's not toxic because the survivor could just be sitting next to an exit gate. If the Killer closes the hatch and powers the gates, there's a decent chance the survivor could leave before the killer can check both gates, so camping them can give you a 50/50 shot at living. So if the Killer wants their 4K, hanging around the hatch until you see the survivor poke their head out isn't a bad idea.

but either way its unfair to have a killer action override survivor there should be an equal opportunity.

I mean, that's the principle of body-blocking. You could just as well say "a survivor standing by a hook shouldn't prevent a person from being hooked" or "a killer standing in front of a window shouldn't stop a survivor from vaulting through it." Players take up space, and they can use that to their advantage, killer or survivor.
3 -
Well if the killer hits you, you can go through them and still get the hatch

those situations are different and not logical though. A person standing in front of a hook would prevent someone from hanging them, A killer barely blocking a literal hole in the ground that i can still walk over but not press anything to use is bullcrap.. a killer standing in front of a window preventing a vault makes sense. Theres no reason a killer action should override a survivor action, the killer doesnt detriment from being blocked from hanging someone if anything that gives them an advantage by injuring another survivor?

Body blocking is fine, in my opinion. There is no reason for this to be removed. It is consistent with the rest of the game, unless you want other instances of blocking to also be patched.

like I said the other instances of blocking make sense and dont detriment the killer, all body blocking ultimately detriments survivors, they should remove overriden actions, and give survivors the equal opportunity of escaping through the hatch regardless its not right,

Do they? Denying a hook detriments Survivors? Blocking so that your friend can escape detriments Survivors? Blocking so that the Killer has to hit the BT person in order to hit the person who gave them BT? Blocking so that your friend doesn't go down?
The Killer is clearly on the Hatch first, ergo, they won the race. The Survivor can just as easily find the Hatch first and avoid this situation entirely.

Logic doesn't really factor in- their collision box prevents you from reaching the hatch and that's what matters. "Logically" you could squeeze around them and get in the hole, but that's a level of realism in movement that isn't present in any of the other game mechanics. I could argue that, logically, a survivor crouching in front of the hook shouldn't block anything because I'm hoisting a survivor up above them- they should get hooked, and then their dangling body would just smack into the person under them.
Also, this isn't an action overiding another action. It's your character not being able to perform an action because someone is in the way. The game isn't picking picking favorites on killer or survivor, it's just enforcing a universal rule that you can't interact with things if something's blocking you.

yes because one more injured survivor while you have a dying on ready to be hooked is one step closer to killing survivors? it detriments a survivor to body block for their team because it takes at least 2 or 3 hits to get a survivor off of the killer's shoulder.

It's because if he hits it you could have Adrenaline and get another second chance. Instead he waits there in case you crawl close enough to get it while you bleed out. It's the smartest and least risky play.

Not if you time it right. And, plus, with the amount of super safe loops and people using Dead Hard, it will likely take at least 45 seconds for the Killer to end the chase. That is plenty of time for the Survivors to heal or pop a gen.

funny because the hook blocking mechanic vs the hatch blocking mechanic is much more precise, you have to be at the right exact distance in front of the hook for it to prevent the killer from hooking, yet the killer only has to be on the edge of the hatch to prevent the survivor from exiting its almost like the game favors killer in this situation. if im able to walk over the hatch i should be able to escape through it, just like the killer is allowed to hook if the survivor isnt in the exact right spot.

killers purposefully stand over it to be toxic though and block the survivor from exiting, its rare that a killer can prevent a survivor from doing this because most of the time they close it right then and there, the killer only stands over it when they are being toxic? and i guarantee you if youre the last alive and hatch spawns no one is going to do generators theyre just gonna go for gate or hatch

"killers purposefully stand over it to be toxic though and block the survivor from exiting"
I've never once had this happen, ever. If he was doing it to be toxic you must have been toxic first, people don't just randomly do that for no reason.
"and i guarantee you if youre the last alive and hatch spawns no one is going to do generators theyre just gonna go for gate or hatch"
What does that have to do with anything?

people actually do toxic stuff without reason, its part of the power trip of playing a killer....killers doing toxic stuff happens a lot!
because another person in this thread was mentioning gate babysitting when hatch spawns waiting for killer to close the hatch and doing gens if killer is camping hatch.....

There was such a thing.... it resulted in the killer and survivor staring at each other to make the first move.

I don't play toxic so that very, very rarely ever happens to me and I play vastly more than the average player.

pretty sure it works, but theres no point in doing it unless youre Wraith tbh.
but like, just close the hatch and end the game, its virtually pointless unless the gates are extremely far apart

Well you know where they are, so you can do whatever you want. Do gens, check chests for a lucky key, break totems if you think they might plan to slam it shut and activate NOED, scout out the gates and try to make a plan.
If they think you're taking too long they can always press spacebar and put a time limit on you.

What do you mean "still a thing"?
Killer hitbox is bigger than hatch, so you cant go through it.
You want smaller killer hitboxes or what?

No more griefing than survivors tea bagging at exit gates.

Well that's perfectly fine however let's take away some other things that can be considered body blocking and invalidating another place actions because that's unfair.
Body blocking the hook I can't hook the survivor stop invalidating my actions they should be removed.
Trapping someone in a corner so you could use your power.
Blocking the killers path if they're going after somebody else.
Strategically blocking windows or vaults so you can cancel a loop.
Those are off the top of my head if I had more time I could give you a proper laundry list.
However can you see how restrictive that would actually make the game.
If you notice that the killer is just standing over the hatch and not letting you jump in. Here is an idea generators thsn they have to choose between closing the hatch and patrolling the gates or your centrally have a three ways to escape.
Also for stealth Killers like Pig, Wraith and Ghostface standing over the hatch in stealth mode can be a great way to law the survivor to get close enough that you can get a visual on them so when you close the Hatch you can immediately start the chase

The killer and survivor have a direct priority over the fate of the endgame. You either find the hatch first and escape, or the killer finds it and decides wether they should close it without hesitation, or test to see if the survivor is playing immersive near hatch or sitting at one of the gates. Nothing is wrong with that.

Oh. I thought u meant them closing the hatch. Well then in that case then yeah that is kinda toxic
