Killer version of “first hook suicide?”
This isn’t meant to argue whether DC penalties are right, or to ask for penalties for first hook death because that isn’t coming anytime soon. But for killers if you are just DONE with a game what do you do?
Hide in a corner, hoping they just finish and leave? Myself I just stand by the door and the instant the last gen pops I open the door, then I have two minutes max left.
The scummier alternative I have seen is if they catch one person late and they know the game is over they just face camp.

I think killers should be allowed to open an exit gate at any time.

I just follow one person, refusing to actually hit them. Just make them think they're being chased so others do work.
Although it's been a looooong time since I've felt the need to do that...
7 -
I have thought about that, they would have to do something to address an instant endgame though in terms of pipping or whatever their new thing is.
2 -
It would be the most fair option, maaaybe 2 gens need to be done first atleast but...but..... this will never be implemented as it will just kill the game honestly.
Sorry killers, you have to suffer through it.
13 -
I just look up and get off my controller and get a drink after opening gate
5 -
What if killers could somehow do gens? So if the other team is refusing to do anything you can still finish the game. But it gives the survivors some time to earn points too
1 -
Just play normally? Sometimes games snowball at the end.
Had a flashlight clicker blinding me all game as Trapper. At the last gen all his friends got trapped with Honing Stone and he was all mine.
And simply playing through with good loopers is a good way to pick up juking techniques for survivor if you can track them properly. I know how to loop better as a result.
15 -
I like that idea. It would probably reduce the amount of dcns.
1 -
But what if the killer is running noed and blood warden? If the killer could open the gate at the start of the match, there's no way they will have cleansed all 5 totems by then. All he needs to do is down one person and BW is up. Granted they could hide for 60 seconds but I can picture killers doing this to be spiteful.
3 -
No way. This would be heavily abused. Hex totem got cleansed? Open the gate. Had a bad first chase? Open the gate. It would be ridiculous, the escape points arent enough. It would have the give the survivors a pip as well as a lot more points to even be considered.
2 -
You just answered your own question.
0 -
it'd be abused by killers wanting to de-rank though and not fair on 4 survivors who actually want to play a game
5 -
I agree, even if I find I'm heavily out skilled by survivors, I use it as a learning curve to not only improve as a killer but also as a survivor as see what loops they are using, what routes they take ect. Plus yeah sometimes in endgame things can turn around drastically. For me I don't need to be always 'winning' to have fun an enjoy the game. If I get beaten by a good group of survivors then fair play and kudos to them

There's just some games you get that RNG so bad you know quickly that you are screwed, especially if they brought toolboxes and keys (I don't dodge lobbies by habit). At that point I just go meme and admire the moonlight on a hill or stare out a window until the gens are done ignoring survivors - usually just takes a few minutes. I've been playing jump scare Susie lately with Insidious (for mind games, not camping hooks) which adds another dimension to Legion for me, and happens to also comes in handy if I'm done with a game. I can just go sulk somewhere and they cannot find me to bother me. Then when the last gen is done I just open the gates, best is when I find someone trying to open a gate I will chase them off and do it myself, then leave the area. Couple minutes later - match is over.
As I get more and more skilled I find I am able to hang better with the bad situations handed me, but that needs to come in stages - just throwing yourself against a brick wall doesn't teach you anything but frustration. I'm afraid that is what the game does to new killers now.
1 -
I think that's less of a downside and more of a strategy that people would have to look out for. But as others have stated already, it would probably end up with a lot of early quits.

Either chase someone without hitting them or go to a corner in the basement. If you're on PC, alt tab out and watch Netflix or something. Killers will never get an option to peace out of the game because it "isn't fair to the survivors that just wanted to play the game" even though survivors can just suicide on hook if they don't want to play anymore.
Remember, it is your job as killer to ensure the survivors have a good time and pip up. Put on your clown wig and dance.
3 -
They would have to change the NOED wording, similar to Rancor where it only activates once all five gens are done

If I’m honestly not feeling it, like I hit that killer breaking point, I’ll down someone and camp them. I don’t camp hook, too many survivor options to help them. Camping on ground though feels more satisfying to me. Them crawling around pitifully, with the other survivors testing the waters and trying to figure out how to solve this new problem. If they manage to get them back up then I tunnel and repeat till death. No matter what happens after, personal fun/victory after a (most likely) hard bully session from survivors. *Again was his is only after I too mad too play correctly because of BS.
2 -
If the killer concedes survivors should instantly black pip with a score event that says "Bullying successful". Problem solved.
3 -
I agree it would be abused....same way how survivors abuse just dying on the hook..
Had a bad first chase? die on the hook
Got stopped doing a hex:totem? die on the hook
DH did not work? die on the hook.
I agree it would be abused, but it would be the most fair option if both sides had a fast out, but I repeat myself, it would kill the game so killers just have to suffer through it.
1 -
Same for you: Purposefully dying on the hook is currently abused by survivors wanting to de-rank and is not fair for teh 4 players who actually want to play a game.
The suggestion is merely there to make it a level playing field even though it would break the game.
1 -
This would solve Survivors not finishing the last gen to take the game hostage until they're done milking Boldness points off you.
0 -
Good point. Scratch that.

I've had games where players just run to extremely safe loops, or where I got a phone call and came back to 2 gens left... I usually just go stand at an exit gate, Open up some Youtube, When the game is over, generally apologize and move on.
EDIT: To be clear, I am saying they will cut across the entire map and B-Line a specific loop... Like I get it, it's a really strong loop, that requires very little skill to run. I've been know to do this at times too. If you read any of my post here, I always argue for a 2k 2 Escape model, so I don't need a 4k to feel good in a chase, shoot I don't even need a 2k... I really just want a fun chases... If you are playing boring and safe playstyle, the game isn't fun for me, so why should I try and make it fun for you?

How 'bout neither side is allowed a fast out?
0 -
Killers don't really have a give up option other than to DC, If you don't want to DC you're forced to wait it out however long that might be. I don't know why the gates can't be opened at any time, I don't see a downside to it.
0 -
I get your point but the killer opening the gate ends the game for everyone, whereas some dumb survivor giving up on hook still allows the game to continue, just much shorter and easier for the killer. There no real way to level it out other than remove the option for survivors to unhook themselves which is never going to happen
0 -
Just add in a concede button. It gives Survivors the escape points, but it lets the Killer out early in a game they do not want to play. Do not give any BP to the Killer.
Also, add it in for Survivors, give the Killer all the Sacrifice scoring they would have missed when the Survivors concede's. Do not give any BP to the Survivor.
2 -
What about letting escaping give the Survivor an automatic safety pip? That could fix the problem of everyone being forced to depip.
2 -
Why? That ruins the game and offers no competitive value other than giving whiny killers a free “avoid DC penalty” card.
0 -
idk how many times i have to repeat this: ITS TO MAKE IT A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD.
every survivor right now can just dip out on teh first hook, while killers have to stay and suffer through it.
I agree that allowing them to open the gate whenever would break the game, but that does not make it any more fair.
6 -
Survivors get one of those though, and it ruins most of my killer games. So if we don't add something for killer, we should do something about survivor suicides.
4 -
Had something like this happen to me yesterday. A Ling-Ling decided to killer herself on hook because she stepped in one of my traps. Her swf just came up to me taunting me to kill them. Just walked away from them and they followed me around, or they locker spammed
0 -
There's a simple fix for that, give the other players a pardon for the killer opening the gate early and ensure that they get a black pip.
1 -
Idea: Let the killer tag someone, now THEY'RE the killer. So that Toxic Nea who's been looping you silly all game is now armed with a knife and no power against survivors who are the same speed as them. They also have a red stain now and a terror radius. Simple.
(No, I'm not being serious)
1 -
Alt-Tab is my rare first hook suicide for killer. Just slam those two keys together and boom, your problems vanish.
1 -
It sucks as both killer/survivor to see a survivor kill themself on first hook but it’s apples to oranges. You can keep playing with 3 survivors but not without a killer.
0 -
I dont mind the idea tbh, seems pretty hilarious to tag a survivor and suddenly swap roles with them
0 -
Good point but honestly it should just safety pip everyone- and you guys are reworking matchmaking and ranking anyways your new system should ideally be able to solve this anyways right? I mean you are going to have D/Cs, Mori matches, hook suicides, getting facecamped by a bubba, people picking wraith and AFKing all game to de-rank, etc.... all things that mess up ranking currently if your new system finally addresses them would it not be able to address this in a similar manner as well?
0 -
You serious? You do know that a survivor killing themselves on first hook makes it that much harder for the killer AND their teammates to PIP because they take away those healing and unhook opportunities. Not to mention forcing the killer attention onto 3 people instead of 4.
And one usually leads to a second, having two teammates quit is almost a certain DEPIP for the remaining survivors and the killer... black pip at best.
4 -
You guys are getting rid of ranks soon, though. Would this still impact the skill-based MMR that is being implemented?
0 -
I either typically try to kill at least 1 by any means if they annoyed me the most. If not I just switch over to my PC and play something else until the survivors are done hovering and tbagging around me before the EGC is done.
0 -
Difference is those games continue on with each side still able to get points. Come on, it’s not the same thing at all as a killer opening a gate after the first minute and ending the game for everyone cause they’re being a baby.
they need to get rid of struggle entirely, and maybe even unhooking yourself too expect for Deliverance. Or do something else with kobe attempts that doesn’t involve draining the meter and going into second stage, I don’t know. So no quick exit, you have to hang there for the full amount of time. Of course the person can just go afk while on the hook, but at least they have to wait
1 -
I never give up as killer. If you have that mentality then your going to lose plenty of games that you could maybe win. You may get a bad map, against a good team, while playing as a bad killer but all it takes is one moment to win a game.
0 -
But you're wasting your time with a 3 survivor game at that point.
0 -
surely with the new mmr based system, that won't really be a problem though?
when its introduced that is
0 -
I would just go hide in the Killers lounge and protect my chest for the rest of the match. They'll speed through the gens and if they choose not to open the doors you could venture out to open them and run right back. Some games I've had more fun protecting my chest rather than running around getting pallet stunned, blinded and t-bagged while I consider my life choices.
1 -
Isn’t first hook suicide a free “avoid DC penalty?”
1 -
Honestly, with how queues are currently, the Killer option is to just actually DC. There's a good chance I could wait out my ban and get into a new match before the survivors from the same match would.
