Decisive Strike: Eat It or Slug Em?

As a survivor main who dabbles in killer play, I find it hilarious when people slug to avoid the DS. When I play killer, one, I try not to tunnel down the person who was just unhooked and two, should that be the unfortunate case, I pick up immediately.

And yes, more often than not, I get DS'ed. The reason why I do this is to get that perk out of the game ASAP. If you slug, you have the potential risk of the survivor getting picked up as if they had DS and they will still have the perk ready for the next opportunity. Better to just get it out of the game while gens are still being worked on vs. getting hit with it in the EGC.

To me, it's the same principle behind cleansing a hex totem; you're taking away a perk from your competition and the sooner the better.

But I'm curious to know what the community feels about this. Do you eat the decisive and get it out of the game or do you slug to avoid it?

I just eat it, same as you I try not to tunnel them off the hook immediately but it happens.

Eat the decisive 100%. There's no benefit to slugging other than avoiding a 5 sec stun.

Just slug them if they're on the ground they aren't fixing gens and they need someone to pick them up another person not doing gens and if your find a chase then that's another not doing gens and if you're lucky you have one on the hook already which means no ones doing gens. Slugging isnt always the best thing to do and can backfire but if theres a risk of DS just slug them unless they're in a massive deadzone and can be re downed fairly easy.

I always try to get it out of the way in early game. Even if I try avoid tunneling, It ends up happening anyway so now I Just outright tunnel to get rid of it because if it lasts till end game it's incredibly strong.

If you play clean, you shouldn't be facing DS. But in the case you have to hit that guy id rather slug, somehow you gain some time by the survivors leaving the gens to heal the slugged person.

However if the survivor is toxic i would prefer waiting the minute, but never the stun.

I understand the people that wanna eat the DS, but why giving them a second chance instead of having a guaranteed kill / hook ?

Try not to chase the person who was just unhooked, but shockingly the person who was easily found one time is often easily spotted again. If you don't see anyone else, eat DS between 1st and 2nd hook. Slug if they're on death hook.

I eat the DS, get it over with so if I manage to get them down again near the endgame I don't have to worry about it. Now if it's endgame and I know they still have DS and I down them, then I will slug.

It depends, if we are early in the game and the survivor goes to hide in a locker, I will absolutely eat it so he cant use it in the late game to screw me.

I don't tunnel off hook, but sometimes I stumble upon someone wounded that just got unhooked and no one else is around.. If I'm already chasing someone else, I won't go out of my way to down them..but by themselves with no one else around, I'll go for the down and eat the stun if they have the perk (and often they don't, so slugging wouldn't have mattered)

The ones that do have the perk make it obvious by running straight at you or in a locker in your face.. which is fine with me, gets rid of their perk for the rest of the game.

I slug them then head for the unhooker.

I will sometimes eat the ds. It depends

If there's no survivors that I can chase and quickly hit them I just eat the DS.

If there is a survivor I feel confident in slugging with no problem. I still get DS out of the way soon as possible.

I laugh a lot at DS complaint posts that dont bring up actual fair points.

Normally eat them cause they get far less cocky about things after it's gone and DS is stronger end game...unless they're on last hook, then you probably want to slug them.

Eat it and move on. Before DS was changed i would always try to get it out of the way early and be mindful of the potential DS users and get them to the hook as quick as possible.

The new ds upsets so many killers because they tunnel and have to play around it.

I just eat the DS. Better to get it out of the way early, than to try and avoid it and have it appear during the end game.

This is not always true. You can try HARD to play clean and still get hit by it. There are times when I - or the killer I'm facing, snowballs very quickly and gets one or more hooks in less than a minute and then downs the guy with DS still active. Also, people who have DS active will often try to run into the killer and get in the way.

neither. the answer for me is not tunneling.

I dont usually go for people recently unhooked in front of me, I go for the saviour since those risky saves are usually done by SWFs with BT and DS.

In any case if I suspect DS I tend to slug them, it attracts other survivors for the heal and as I rarely need more than 30 or 20 seconds of slug to see DS deactivated.

Eat a DS? You mean pick up a survivor and lose all your pressure as killer by having a survivor slugged on the ground? I'd love to!
