Is there any way to stop people from joining my lobbies?

I have this one friend who keeps joining my lobbies when I'm queuing for matches and I don't want to play with him. I don't want to unfriend them as we play together a lot, but sometimes I just want to play on my own and I can't queue without him joining, which stops me from queuing. Even if I leave the lobby, he can just rejoin me when I try to play as survivor.

Is there anyway I can avoid people joining my lobbies? Does showing as offline on Steam also show you as offline in the game?

You can change your privacy settings then change them back if he takes the hint.

The in-game friends list should mimic whatever setting you have on Steam. If you launch the game in offline mode, it will show you as offline in-game as well. You may need to restart the game for that to take effect.

Although if they were using the in-game list to join you, you would have received a request to join anyway. If they're joining without asking, they're either joining you through the button on your Steam profile, or by right clicking you in their friends list and clicking join game. In either case, setting yourself to offline or invisible will prevent them from doing so as well.

Sometimes I feel antisocial and don’t want to take a chance on invites, so I change my setting to appear offline. I’m on PS4 so if you’re on some other platform then look for something similar.

And yes, the offline option makes you invisible to all others. It won’t even tell others the trophies that you earned during that time.

Why don't you guys add an option to lock the lobby or something? What if I want to stay online on steam because I still want to message friends and stuff and I just want to play survivor without my friends able to forcible join me causing my long queue time to reset?

Just man up and tell that person that u want to play alone rn. Nothing wrong about saying something like that.

I wouldn't be against that, but you can already do exactly that by going invisible. They won't see you as online, but you can still send and receive messages like normal. If the idea is to not hurt their feelings by telling them "I don't want to play with you", that might even service you better since they'd probably ask you if you wanted to play if they saw you online, but set to private. If they're really persistent about joining you and aren't getting the memo, they likely wouldn't stop there.

I’m on console and I’m having the same problem. Any suggestions on how to fix this issue?

If you're on PS4, set your status to 'Appear Offline'

Not sure how it works on Xbox

Man....remember when he had a community manager that communicated with us at least somewhat. I sure miss things like that...

They should hire a community manager to be active like that again...y'know...in the community. The mods are the only ones doing that these days.
