Anyone feels that playing as solo is more miserable than playing as killer?

Especially when you are paired with 3 man SWF who leaves you on hook?

I did get some really good teammates in some game, but most of the time it's not.

I saw everyone went for unhooking, where the killer were clearly camping

I saw people looping around hooked killers.

I saw people going down to basement to save teammate from basement bubba.

I saw people crouching across the map when i get downed.

I died by one-hooked despite i did 4 gens alone, with kindred on.

Your experience?

    Solo is awful.

I do like how from time to time there are games where everyone is in sync.

I would like Kindred basekit, without the killer Aura reading of course.

The experience really varies. Some solo teammates are great. Even SWFs. I've had a random Nea come back for me with NoED active. I've also had a pair of SWFs flashlight save me repeatedly. Other Solo teammates are awful. They don't know how to save, or they're overly altruistic and go for a save when the killer is camping. They also don't seem to get that you should HEAL someone before finishing a generator, because when the gen finishes, it alerts the killer. Some run terrible perks like Deja Vu. And when they see you running (and you have spine chill) they're like "Huh? Why are they running? Oh well. OH WAIT TIER 1 MYERS IS BEHIND ME?"

One of the worst feelings in the game is being left on the hook while using Kindred.

Actually no, it gets worse. One player being chased, second one crouch walking around the map, third one using Self-Care against Sloppy.

I really wonder what is going through their minds during this. Do you not see them being chased? Do you not realise Self-Care + Sloppy is ~40 seconds? Are you THAT afraid of a Killer on the complete opposite side of the map?

I play mostly solo - it's pretty chill.

Solo can be bad. Sometimes, it definitely feels like it's as bad as killer. I play both and here lately, have started doing 2 man swf, but most days and nights I am solo or at least solo for a few hours. I have no life, so I play a lot.

Granted a lot of our perks, survivors, can help us out, I still see how solo can be a bad experience. I know firsthand how annoying it is to watch a crouching player without urban or even with and the killer is long gone and not hag. Or someone on the other side of the map or someone saving before the killer leaves and doesn't have borrowed and doesn't even take the hit. Hook trading is only really useful endgame. It gives the killer way too much pressure early game. The self carers in a corner annoy me too. Healing is fine, but why so far away from the objectives? And if the obsession is getting chased, then make your way to the hooked survivor. Especially if your closer... I've gone to stage two because of players doing that specifically there's a lot of crap solos have to deal with which can create a lot of the frustrations we see. I've even done a few of the mentioned things above on accident.

I try to think "okay... they're just being cautious, it's fine" hits stage two "it's alright they're rank 20..." red rank "it's fine, rank doesn't matter..." sees another get down instantly at a long wall "they're new..." sees someone gets instantly saved "they got borrowed" saved person goes down three seconds later "it's time to be four in one. Gen I'll brb." Goes down after getting chased for 30 seconds "okay my gen and another should go off" remembers one person was self caring "oh come on, why are you in a corner!" Sees the other working on a gen "yesh that should finish by the time I'm off." Gets saved, gen doesn't finish, gets in a chase, goes toward shack "......." queue the long no scene

    "NOOOOOOOOOOOO" Now queue the song

"When you try your best but you don't succeeeed."

Essentially, I try to make a meme out of it while still trying. Getting mad over it or frustrated ruins the experience and I'd rather laugh. I do the same with killer. Tbaggers At the gate get moonwalks and nods, camping killers get jumping jacks and tunnelers get head bobs. I'm not here to get angy, I here to have fun lol

I do think that If solo queue, kindred is on.

Kindred should be base kit for solo queues.

On yeah, i forgot those perks. Maybe i had such experience is because i don't bring second chance perks..

Btw i agree as survivor, you pip no matter what you do lol

It's actually crazy that when I play Killer, I get put against great players, but I play Survivor and I'm screwed.

I'm always guaranteed that one Claudette who MUST Self-Care in the basement/corner, a Nea Urban Evasion'ing around the map with no killer in sight, a survivor who must hook dive and die for it, and a survivor who fails so many skill checks, the killer pretty much has them on speed-dial for their location. I don't think there are many times I've ever had a decent team that works well together.

The worst is when you have Prove Thyself (I had a bad day yesterday and wasn't in the mood to have longer than 5 minute matches) and two people decide to heal each other next to a gen that's regressing due to ruin... Like ffs, the other guy is being chased, just man up and finish the gen. You'd expect red ranks to be able to do gens even while injured but no, apparently healing is important. Pipping system needs to be more difficult. There's too many red ranks who should be in green/yellow ranks.

    Orionbash Member Posts: 765

Yes. The quality of survivors has really gone downhill and I really wish they would reserve red ranks for the best of the best instead of allowing terrible survivors, and even killers, in there.

Its so frustrating playing survivor and being on the hook and seeing two people doing nothing while a 3rd person is actually on a gen and it's that survivor that has to run to get you off the hook because the others are too scared.

I don't typically bring them either, but you mentioned bad teammates, not yourself being the issue. Usually those other teammates for me at least are all stacking every second chance perk they can.

I like playing solo, but trashy teammates are trashy teammates.

Solo q is an awful experience. Even duos can be bad due to randoms. 3 man or 4 man squads is the only time I have fun playing survivor. And playing killer is always fun for me which is probably why I haven’t even touched the new survivor yet.

Leave you on the hook? I had a swf as I was trying to do the Headon rift achievement and this Dwight comes up and starts opening the locker over and over. Then as I tried to leave it he body blocks me. I finally get hooked and he comes up and does the whole "I am unhooking you...no I'm not...I'm unhooking you...no I'm not" routine until the second stage began and then he unhooks me and I get hooked again and I die. I and the killer reported him but doubt anything was done. I have had some real good swfs as a solo...one body blocked this tunneling killer on my third hook and allowed me to wiggle free and actually escape the trial and then some are like these jerks...why I say the most brutal killer is the other survivors.

    All killers are solo players.

But no, solo survivor is not as bad as solo killer.

Solo player have a bad match? You can give yourself to the entity.

Killer have a bad match? You have to play it till the end & deal with survivors hiding until the last second.

Its unbearable. Hook suicides on first hook because a player doesnt like the killer or map.

Teammates unhooking in the killers face without BT or just hiding when the killer is coming back instead of taking the heat.

Urban evasion claudettes who refuse to do gens under any circumstance AT RANK GODDAMN ONE SERIOUSLY YOU SHOULD KNOW YOUR OBJECTIVE BY NOW.

I had a game earlier where I was on the hook and witnessed two players teabag next to a dwight self caring on the other side of the map for the full duration of a sloppy butcher self care because most survivors seem to be rats scurrying for BP scraps.

    Frustration level (in my opinion):

    1) solo survivor: For every exciting game with lots of good chases and good teammates you get about 10 absolutely terrible games with people sitting in a corner doing nothing combined with a camping/tunneling killer who gives you a "gg ez" if your chase was strong. A few weeks ago J played 2 solo survivor games and believe it or not in both games I had a survivor working with the killer. I don't even bother reporting them anymore at this point.

    2) killer: by far not as frustrating as it used to be years ago thanks to many changes like removal of the pallet vacuum, removal of certain god pallets (looking at you - entrance pallet at badham school), exhaustion remains while running, no more actual instaheals, no more actual brand new parts etc. etc. etc.

Sometimes you feel completely powerless if all 4 survivors are strong. However that's such a rare case I wouldn't even consider it a problem. Besides when should survivors ever escape if even 4 strong survivors were supposed to die? I realize survivors must have a chance to survive to keep them motivated so I take a loss and move on unlike many other killers.

    3) SWF: Little to no frustration in my book. I had a "SWF phase" (2-man SWF) years ago. We usually talked so much about non-dbd stuff in the end I didn't even realize we died a million times in a row.

Ahhh I did until I ran into a toxic as ######### streamer earlier today. They had like 50 - 100 viewers too I don't know why so many people would follow someone who is such an awful human being but whatever.

I kinda lost interest in solo queue after that, I am only going to play with friends going forward I think. Too many toxic people that are allowed to just do what they want to ruin games for other people, with no consequences- and what is worse is watching other people cheer that kind of behavior on.

Im a solo player and I do get tired of this game sometimes. There are days where I play and I get really bored because i’m not really communicating with anyone or having fun with friends for that matter.

    Use kindred

Killer leaves and his aura too

    1 survivor in chase

2 survivors randomly crouching or self caring WITH KINDRED ON.

    Or

    Use kindred

    Killer camps

1 survivor goes for save drawing killer attention instead of coming closer immersed

2 survivors randomly crouching around the map or self caring

    RANK 2 BTW

These guys dont know how to do gens only saving, killers tunnels me because he always find me on gens cause no one is doing gens.

Someone escapes in hatch or killer 4k.

Solo is #########, as killer is ######### because of swf, the gamw could detect solo and balance perks only for them, and addons as toolboxes, maybe a 5 perk.

It really depends. At purple ranks it can be awful. At red ranks it's ok most of the time. If I ever play solo survivor it's for challenges, and even then I'd rather do them with a friend. Idk there's just absolutely no fun playing as a solo survivor it's much more fun playing with someone else. At least then I have someone to talk to and chill with while I play.

Biggest downside to the survivor role is your teammates. Prime examples of teammates being absolutely useless:

-Despite using Kindred I still reach second phase

-Someone will hook save me but will not protect or heal me. The killer will come back and my teammate will make a run for it, leaving me to get downed and hooked once again.

-The killer will have me on death hook, or be able to mori me but my 2/3 teammates who haven't been hooked once will do nothing to help me and even if I come towards them basically screaming ''bodyblock, please help me'', they'll run away.

As a killer main, if I BLATANTLY see teammates not helping another deliberately and act selfish, I'll let the survivor go and go after his teammates.

Yet they want to keep nerfing survivor side because swf teams are OP ? lol okay. more often than not playing solo I’m not getting out alive or as many points as id like because I’m either watching teammates get camped on so I can’t heal them or killers just flying around the map laying people out because of lack of hiding or gens are too clustered together. I refuse to believe killers need a buff of ANY kind. Toolbox hit was a hard hit, now they’re unusable? 24 charges is just so weak why even have them in the game? Also since this recent toolbox update lag seems fairly worse, Unfair killer hits on people due to lag. Also when I run up to drop a pallet does anyone have a problem crouching instead?

Solo can be utterly frustrating and freaking amazing, it just depends what pick n mix team you end up with. I have genuinely been in a game where i pulled off 5 safe hooks and then got left to die on my first hook at the end. (No NOED and the killer was chasing someone else across the map) When it comes to survivor I stick to my niche. I sneak around the map with Kindred and We'll make it when im not on a gen or totems, I use empathy to keep distance between myself and the killer. I am only okay at chases, so i stick to my role and only run when I have to. 60% of the time I'm the last one left with 3-1 gens left to go. At that point I can't be arsed to go hatch hunting and I'll usually alert spam near a hook for the killer to finish up the game.

Is it stressful...yes. Yet I'm still not certain that it's as stressful as killer. I don't play killer as often but when I do, I am constantly tense, trying to keep control of the situation.

  • OmegaXII
    OmegaXII Member Posts: 2,216

No. Many killer mains also ask for buffs for solo to swf level.
