Biggest difference between high and low tier Survivors
Low tier survivors are scared easily and spend half the game trying to avoid the Killer even if they're not in a chase. They also frequently send too many people to get saves and they crowd around in chases so they're all kind of nearby.
High tier survivors literally will not get off gens unless the Killer forces them too. When they're not in a chase, they're on a gen or sending exactly one person to save that's it.
That's literally the only difference. Survivors that optimize their time more do better. Yeah, higher rank survivors are generally better at looping, but a gen jockey who knows how to use their exhaustion perk can still rank up.

High tier survivors know the layout of every map like the back of their hand.
They play with a M&K which gives them extra precision.
Not only that, but they can even play mind games to increase chase time.
Normally, I don't have a problem with mind games. But the maps are too unbalanced at this point.

Low tier get stomped on, high tier are untouchable in a good position.

High tiers are typically toxic and rude. Lower tiers are actually enjoyable to play, yes some are still toxic but there's others who would get absolutely wrecked and they would still say gg and laugh and joke.
