Can we have a perk that increases the odds of getting a skillcheck? Maybe an Up the Ante rework?
Title. I want a perk that makes my autodidact meme build more reliable, and the waste of a perk slot that is up the ante could possibly be reworked into something like that. Just a simple skillcheck increase and nothing else, so that the good players can go faster with hitting greats, to get skillcheck related challenges done easier, for the worse players to practice hitting them, and for my autodidact build to be more reliably awesome.

that's the point, in the hands of great players it might become very scary, pushing the genrush meta further more.
they should just make that autodidact could increase the skill check chances while healing and then the perk would be fine.

That's probably a better idea, or giving you a stack after a full heal, or only having one stack of the debuff instead of two.

I feel auto is much like Thana.
Its a difficult thing to balance because while both perks are not great even a small tweak could make them incredibly oppressive.

Ya giving anyone skillcheck more commonly is not a good idea if it affects Gens. Some players have hard enough times as killer before and after the Ruin nerf. Pushing Killers further away is far from a healthy decision.

I think they previously stated they had ideas about attaching skill checks to luck but didn't know whether luck should cause more skill checks or causing less.
To counter perks like a gearhead and huntress lullaby you would most likely want to have a lot less skill checks.( I know it's no it's not a factor anymore however something like old ruin would also require you not to want many skill checks)
But with perks like autodidact and stake out you could reliably want a lot more.

I think a small increase in skill checks is reasonable for Autodidact. As-is, it's just too unreliable.

That would be a good idea for Up the Ante. They could balance it out by reducing the extra progression from Greats. Or, as someone posted a while ago (which I find an extremely interesting idea), separate the "Great" area from the "Good" area, so that if you go for a Great, you are risking failing the skillcheck instead of just landing a good. Both fit the concept of the perk perfectly.

I’d be for the increased skillcheck chances (autodidact build). But make it so great skillchecks no longer give additional progression, and instead award up to 100% stackable bonus for hitting great skill checks (each Great Skillcheck grants 1 token, 10% each at Tier 3).

It wouldn’t be useless when paired with autodidact, and people here love running BP-boosting perks.
And it kind of fits Ace’s whole “gambling” background. Tampering with the RNG, getting more money (bloodpoints), etc.

Remember a Killer is on a clock from the moment everyone loads in. So everything needs a balance. If skill checks become too frequent due to a perk making healing or other skill checks universally better that's creating additional issues. Just remember when buffing one thing consider the repercussions that will happen to the other side.
Yet if the perk Autodidact guaranteed 1 skill check per heal *not applicable by stop and restarting* than that perk would be buffed and actually very nice. I've always felt that if you heal 5 people then you should have a full 5 stacks.

it would be basically useless, since the only other action that has skillchecks is healing, so it could be used with self-care, which is not meta, hence not good, and autodidact, which might be good, if you won't a meme build wasting 2 slots.

Problem still stands. Too small and you'll never notice a difference. Too large and it becomes way too powerful. With how wild RNG can be a "balance" may never seem consistent enough.
