What does this game need next?
I have a few things in mind as to what I feel this game needs to keep it fresh. I feel like although we have had new chapters that the game hasn’t had anything new and new to keep it fresh - these are not rants but just my opinion on what would keep the game moving.
some suggestions ;
a new survivor item such as a way to help others see your aura (id suggest a candle or something that has a limited use like a flashlight but when in use it shows your aura to others)
A new killer offering - could think of many
More general perks - killer and survivor.
Heavy customisation options (not sure how this would be implemented but It could be) I’m fed up of being stuck with poor customisation options.
statistics - personal, kill count, favourite killer, gates opened, generators powered etc.
Anything else that people would suggest ?

What I think would be important is to make repairing Generators more engaging, like a constant mini-game while repairing Generators. Since repairing Generators is the Survivors' only objective at the moment it should be more exciting, more than just a random skill check. If something like this is implemented maybe the Developers could increase the time it takes to repair Generators if that is needed to combat the Genrush at high ranks, since they didn't want to that because repairing Generators makes for boring gameplay.
And increase the points for completing a Generator gives you to 2500 bloodpoints.

Game modes.
Split the playerbase? Yup. But it adds interest, so it’ll also grow the playerbase. Queue times are ridiculous anyway, so this might actually help to even out the primary game mode.

Such a fun topic - thanks for posting! <3
I agree that the game could use some more flavor to bring back to life! And while that will mean something different to everyone what I would personally enjoy seeing is...
- New Maps: I understand that this would require a lot of work from the devs! But I would personally love to see a wider range of truly unique maps. A coastal map or an amusement park on a pier would be fantastic. The inside of an old Victorian mansion. A clocktower that was very narrow but very tall. Not only would the aesthetic and sense of exploration feel great but I would also like to see maps that demand a change up in play style, I.E. the idea of a narrow map with a lot of floors.
- New Cosmetics/Customization: God yes. LOL Especially as rewards, much like they are doing with the Rift. Give me hair, give me faces, give me clothes. <3
- Killer Objectives: Now this will probably be an unpopular opinion buuuut... Survivors have a lot of objectives going on in their game. They have to complete gens, they can search toolboxes, they should try and find all of the dull totems to counter NOED, all the while being chased by a Killer or trying to save fellow Survivors. The game for Killers is solely find and hook. I think it would be interesting if there was a BALANCED mechanic that added some variance to the Killer. Maybe if they did something, such as search for 3 specific items (much like finding dull totems as a Survivor) and they destroyed them then it caused something challenging to happen for the Survivor. As a Survivor main I know I would LOVE this too, so long as it was actually a challenge and was balanced. I can't stress BALANCE enough. Haha
I love your aura showing candle idea, OP! I agree that having a wider range of items that served some varied and unique purposes would be pretty neat.

An actual tutorial (not the garbage one that barely explains anything) for each killer that explains their powers , perksand add-ons that doubles as a practice mode as well. A tutorial for survivors that explains how the game works, their perks, items, (and how to literally move their camera around since I'm getting stuck with yellow and green survivors who just hold W).
A massive patch that finally fixes many of these bugs that have been in the game for years would solve a bunch of problems.

Dedicated PTB file to download once that can be played when the PTB is active.
More controlled PTB with objectives in the form of a dedicated rift that end with rewards for the actual game.
Charm based on your devotion level
Ability to mix and match in the store (and maybe go above and beyond and add, once clothing has been chosen, the abiltiy to load into the tutorial level so you can run around with those cosmetics and see how it looks ingame)

I'd say just more objectives for survivors to do aside from gens/totems. Just a secondary objective to award some points and give them something aside from riding gens.

I agree more detailed tutorials would be great and I'd love to have a practice mode. I also want a 2 killers/8 survivors mode. Might be hard to balance, but I've always liked the idea of working with another killer instead of playing solo.

Beach DLC!!
Are people getting sick of the monotony? Let's throw modestly dressed survivors and a speedo Clown at everyone!
Honestly though, Crossplay and the Matchmaking change before anything else. Let's get those first so population is increased for everyone and people are in proper(er) playing situations and then from there others things can get added.
I think some kind of 2ndary objective would be fun but I have no idea what. I don't like the idea of having to grab special tools before you can do gens which I see people throwing around now and then.
I think some kind of early game stall would also be nice. Very minimal of course.
Various customizations besides hook/pants ornaments would be great. Things like a different basement appearance or gen appearance, etc.

Mine's a bit of a different answer to this question....this game needs competition.
No game of a similar nature comes close to DbD's success. BHVR right now will always be on top which says to them that they're doing everything right. Nobody's quitting this game to play another game in the genre because they're all dead or dying, or have no player base at all. I really hope project resistance takes off and becomes as popular as DbD since this game desperately needs some competition. That would help the game the most since competition means the Devs might just be motivated enough to start making patches and changes that are actually meaningful for once.

Buffs for the weakest killers and bug fixes related to killers should be the top priority. I want to be able to play and enjoy the game with every killer in red ranks and not be restricted to 3 or 4 wich is dumb and boring.

Killer perks that has tokens for each totem still up, and then each token gives the killer a small boost or the survivors small hindrances.
Why? Well, a few reasons.
- Killers need better early game perks. This gives the Devs a way to add in some powerful early game perks that the survivors can make slowly fade away. On the flip side, these perks won't be nearly as hit or miss as Hex Perks because the buff is spread out over all totems.
- At current, really the only perk Killers have that push survivors to do totems is Noed. Which largely results in survivors ignoring their secondary objective because it frequently doesn't matter.
- There's already a perk that works kind of like this. Hex: Thrill of the Hunt. That thing needs some better synergies and this seems like a good way to do it.
