I decided to stop doing gens. I still escape most of the times.

First of all, doing gens is SO BORING, also gives most killers no time to do anything. I go for rescues, try to take the aggro, do totems... so I'm productive, not as much as being gen rushing like the rest of the team, but at least don't hide in a corner. It's just a game anyway, if I die, who cares? if I live, who cares? I rather die and have fun than escape a 5 minutes match and waiting in queue for another 20 minutes.

There are some exceptions:

-If the killer is HB or spirit (I'm not scared of nurses and I try to get chased by them)

-If a person dies.

-If for some reason I know or suspect the killer has NOED, I try to pop the last gen when he's chasing someone injuried.

-If the match is boring and I just don't want to play anymore (like Doctor or Legion or Freddy)

Still rank 1... this game is SO easy for survivors.

Do you do that? do you stop doing gens if you feel like the killer is struggling to get hooks?

Well, to win you just have to stay alive longer than the other potatoes, then theres the hatch or 2 powered doors if the hatch disnt work. Feel free to do so as it is subjectrively cheap but still in the original spirit of this game.

I'd rather do gens tthan be chased. I love players like this op. :)

I remember one match I started 4 1/2 gens by myself while my other team mates were chased.

    *so satisfying*

Hahaha, shhhh you don't say nothing, main survivors and Devs still think that the game is easier for killers and survivors havr the world against them, I have said a lot of times it is too easy escape from killer since nerf ruin and nurse that I'm boring. Sometimes I help the killer to find me or give him one hook for free. But Devs say that there isn't genrush or help for survivors... You do it well

Hahaha a lot of matchmakings survivors are rank 1 or red but killers are green or purple rank, obviously they don't have the correct level to play Vs red ranks but the most of main killers left the game because survivors have a lot of advantages even they ask everyday for more nerfs haha. I'm main survivor and it's to easy escape since ruin and nurse was nerfed. And toolbox it takes 2 seconds to sabotage a Hook

i dont get your comment? i said ranks was a joke and your reply would seem like i stated otherwise. and yeah most survivors are red ranks because its too easy and it ruins the game for both sides, so much so this is the least i have enjoyed the game. this game is full of people complaining, that goes for both sides not just one. from your comment you seem like a triggered player tbh, however for me i enjoy the game less now ruin was taken out, survivor was so much more fun when ruin was a thing, it stopped every survivor hitting red ranks but there are alot of killer that relied on ruin too much and mixed with all the less skillful player when they come across skillful players they get mad. i hardly play the game myself atm, either side after 2+ years of being rank 1 on both sides its just not as fun having team-mates all hiding and never touching a gen getting boosted or playing killer and feeling pointless when playing a less viable killer on broken maps against swf that actually know how to play

When ruin existed, the main objective was looking for ruin and broken it, it was funny because killer defend his ruin and survivors had a true challenge to break it. After generators... Nowadays survivors just do generators and cry when killers have noed because survivors did not break totems. I have PLAYED DBD for 2 years and today is the worst time for killers and game is broken for survivors.

Maybe this is why I get stuck doing all the gens in my game only to be killed in the end? lol

I mean I understand your logic but even doing 1 gen helps the team. I mean unless you get ALL the totems, other than saves what did you do all game? What if there were no saves to be had?

I personally have moved onto other games and quit playing because not saying my teams have been like this but, I got tired of doing all the gens myself only to be killed and find teammates sneaking around and hiding, "looking for totems" only for them to escape and get the survivor points that I earned. lol

I also have to say if you are that bored why play? There has to be other games you can play that maybe give you the challenge you are looking for without hurting other peoples games to much. You could also play killer a little more often. =)

I am happy though that you are getting good teams to the point you do not have to do gens and can twerk around the map. lol I wish I had this luck and keep up the good luck of the team mate draw. =)

As killer iLOVE survivors like you. Even more so if they are the idiots who follow me around with a clicky clicky. As much as I hate gen speed, survivors like you make me smile. You are doing nothing. As soon as I know you do nothing, I slug a couple of your teammates who actually threaten me winning. Please keep doing you and please enfluence other survivors to do you.

So, for everyone (thanks for the answers either you agree or not). I've come to a time where 90% of the times it's mostly up to me if i win or lose the match. I can gen rush (like optimally think which gen should be done, not to 3-gen myself, go to another gen if I know the killer is patrolling, how not to be an idle survivor and always move the game forward, etc...) and I can hold the killer for a 1 or 2 gens on average EACH CHASE. So most of the time if I play to win, I'll win not even sweating.

Being survivor is really easy, and I got bored of gen rushing, I want to play, I want the killer to play, I want everyone to make bloodpoints (hooking, unhooking, healing...) a 5 minutes match where the killer did 3 hooks is useless, 20 minutes queue time for a 5 minutes match and 15k bloodpoints. I hope you get the point that I'm not some braindead survivor, I just go with the game, if the killer is struggling (like rank 10 vs me) I don't even touch a gen, if a killer is applying a lot of pressure, of course, I gen rush as hell (by default I gen rush hillbillies, since they can down people in 5 seconds, making it unviable to play the way I'm explaining). I also do gens if nobody is healing against plague, since it has the same effect as an insta-down billy. So it all depends on the situation, but wraith? leatherface? clown? pig? most of the time I don't touch a gen unless it's required.

Man I’m a killer main, but you have teammates and they may not be on your 1337 level of controlling when/if escaping can be done. It’s selfish no matter how you try and rationalize it

  • Coder
    Coder Member Posts: 747

So... if you play against me you want me to gen rush you instead of having fun? because I don't care AT ALL about winning, I rather die being tunneled than genrush and escape.

  • Coder
    Coder Member Posts: 747

Some people play the game to win, some to have fun. Holding M1 is not fun for me, I never said it wasn't selfish, but sometimes 1 person holding back is more fun (for everyone) than 4 people doing gens like crazy. This game is matematically broken, unless hillbilly, nurse or spirit, killers don't win matches, survivor lose them.

It might seem selfish, but most of the time I'm doing everyone a favor.

Here is the unfortunate truth atm: the way the devs have balanced this game around low ranks and not cared at all about gen speed has forced a lot of killers (my self included) to start every match sweaty as hell. When this game first hit PS4 man I loved it. Survivors weren’t optimal at loops, killers weren’t so sweaty (hell, I use to give trap door to the last every match) now nobody knows who TF you are facing. So yes your idea is admirable and to be quite honest I wish I could start into a match a breathe. Sadly the devs have built it too this state. Survivors feel the need to rush, killers feel the need to sweat. Maybe we agree on some level

Sorry, take the aggro, means you try to make the killer chase you so you take pressure off your teammates.

This is exactly what a killer main that’s pretending to be a survivor main would say. It’s really not easy. Not when you’re playing with random people and not everyone’s good at looping. But in the case that nobody is, it’s rather challenging. Chases are fun, but not everything. The game needs more survivor wise. But don’t say it’s too easy.

  • Coder
    Coder Member Posts: 747

Any time! Let's do 1v1. Forget about gens, forget about other people. You down me 3 times, let me go the first 2 times, let me heal, once healed, we start the chase again and when you down me the third time, it's over. You want an incentive to win? we can do it the other way around, you as survivor, me as killer, same killer. We time the chases, whoever lasts longer, wins.

People don't understand that the fun part about DBD is not holding M1, but chase or being chased.

    Groxiverde Member Posts: 767

I usually play killer but nowadays when I play survivor I play exactly like you. I even had to check your name in case you were a friend of mine or something, wow.

I'm glad people like you exist. When I play killer and I notice someone not doing gens and only focusing on having fun (being chased and altruistic, basically) I always +rep him. You are truly valuable for this community. Ignore the haters! :D

Do you want to know why you are so confident in your skills? Because you are a brave survivor, you look for chases and danger instead of pressing m1 for 5 minutes, and that made you improve a lot. People who get angry at you need to understand that what they find fun (pressing m1 for several minutes) can be unfun for other people. This is a casual game, not a competitive one. The only focus when playing this game should always be to have fun.

That's why I've stopped making posts about balance in the forums. I finally understood that this game can't be balanced around competitive play, only around fun.

Thanks for coming to my TED talk. :P

Dude, survivor is INSANELY and MIND NUMBINGLY easy! Unless you're facing a god tier nurse or a god tier hillbilly or spirit. I play rank 1 with randoms all the time, I think I respect like 3 or 4 killers from my area that are really good and have like 5,000+ hours, and most of the time I last more than the rest of my team.

Of course, if your team are potatoes, it gets harder, but if survivors in your team are "decent", you'll win most of the time.

it can actually be rather frustrating. Especially solo. Killers need Mori’s taken away or at least nerfed down to a level that’s fair for everyone. I think Everyone should have to be hooked before ANYONE can be Mori’d. I think that would make more sense.

  • Coder
    Coder Member Posts: 747

Nah, moris are ok the way the are. They used to be MUCH worse, not even requiring you to hook anyone, you just down someone and mori them, that simple :-D

Just don't sweat when the killer offers a mori, just play like "whatever", if you win, you win, if you die, whatever, next game. He didn't really outplayed you, he just had a mori.

I thought that same thing, the killers he finds “boring,” all have some anti looping except Billy. Spirit, Freddy and Doctor all change that normal looping dynamic. My guess is you only don’t mind nurses because there are very few good Nurses left.

  • Coder
    Coder Member Posts: 747

What? A lot of killers have anti-looping skills. Clown, Hag, Trapper, Huntress, Legion (at least secures 1 hit), Nurse, Pig (dash) even Plague can make you injuried without hitting you. Wraith and GF also have the surprise element to at least hit you once and shorten the chase.

@DisappointedUser You find Doctor and Freddy hard?? I grant you Freddy because of map pressure and dream pallets are BS, they're not hard, they're cheap. Like you arrive at a loop and you have no agency, who the hell knows which pallet is up, it's not a mind game, he didn't outplay me, I just flipped a coin and guessed wrong, same with spirit, it's just cheap sometimes. Doctor is not hard unless you go to an unsafe loop where he can stun you before you get to the pallet but his timing has to be perfect otherwise.

If you find those two killers "hard" I'm pretty sure you're struggling playing survivor overall.

That's the problem. The game is too easy and allows ALL 4 OF YOU to leave, if you just did NOTHING but gens... 2k balance my left nut...

Ran a slug build for a bit and survived most games. It was unbreakable, tenacious, boil over, and flip-flop.

You don't need meta perks to win. Just rush gens, and don't be the last person the killer sees.

  • Coder

You don't need perks to be honest, I did a few nights of perkless survivor, I still managed to escape most of the time.

I usually disregard when someone talks about the other side being "easy" or their side being "hard". Neither is true. Killer is not hard, it can be unforgiving vs good groups, but by no means hard. I follow you, I hit you, I hook you. Or, I get hit with 32,000 pallets and everyone runs out. The closest to "hard" comes in with the learning how to maneuver killers like Billy, Oni, and Nurse. Survivor is not hard. It is not as easy as "hold M1", but it is not hard either. Not everyone loops like a champion, I've seen some survivors that I thought were trying to mind game with me with way they "ran" from me. Nope, they just were not good, poor souls. To be honest, I've found the "hardest" thing as a survivor is playing stealth. No, not immersed. I'm talking playing stealth. When I see a survivor score 28k plus and I only saw them a couple times in the match because they were good at losing/evading me, yet were impactful, I have a lot of respect for them. Especially vs a killer like Doc. Still, not hard.

Let's not act like we are exuding skill because we squashed 4 solo survivors, or we escaped Clown on Ormond. Seriously, not hard.

I'd like to caveat all of this by saying.....poor Clown. I have a lot of respect for Clown mains, especially those that can make him look effective! I suck with him.
