Getting caught by accident
Its happened a few times. A survivor is getting chased while you are doing a gen (or casually hiding) and you notice them. Hoping they walk elsewhere you stay put, but there is the mistake I suppose. They end up passing by you and you become the new target of the killer. Some would say "That's good, taking away pressure from your teammate so they can heal" or "don't be afraid of getting hooked." When this happens I am usually caught off guard and lose the chase.
Any tips? Happen to anyone often?

first, it was probably intentional... lots of players will lead killers to teammates to save themselves.
I run spine chill and/or bond so I don’t get caught unaware in these situations often and if I do Sprint burst usually gets me to a good loop

It's called sandbagging.
Get Bond and do it right back.
Also, Sprint Burst is a great Perk for these sticky situations.

I've done this so many times to people on accident that my buddy says I have a built in bond. It always happens to be him 90% of the time as well which is pretty funny.
Running Bond, Spine Chill, or even Empathy can help you run away sooner if you notice them coming. Quick and Quiet to fast vault in a locker before they get there, Sprint Burst to run away if they catch you off guard.

This happens to me often too, but I brush it off because I do it by accident as well and don’t know if it’s being done to me on purpose or not. If it’s obvious my teammate is a douche throughout the match and does it constantly, I’ll go into blend mode the second spinechill activates rather than wait a little.

My friends and I do this to each other all the time, but it's always by accident. We'll be having casual convo on the chat and then suddenly "omg sorry, didn't mean to bring him to you!!"
It depends on the killer as well. Get a killer with super-serious tunnel vision and they will run right by as you pop a gen in their face because they only want that ONE person.
My main tip would be to always be looking around and keep an eye on the killer. Unless the other survivor is hugging the gen as they run, there's a good chance you'll be able to see the killer change their mind and be able to get off the gen.
