Any tips for Deathslinger?
I play at red ranks, but i have never gotten more than 1 kill with him. Every game i had was either entity displeased or brutal killer.
Before you say anything, no, i don't camp or tunnel or whatsoever. I play fairly, down survivors pretty fast, but by the time i got kill, it's usually one gen left or all done.
So.. for those who do well with him, can i have some advice? I'm kind of desperate now..

First of all don't be afraid to reload during chases. Sometimes you need it.
Make sure to shoot if a survivor is vaulting a window (unless they fall downwards from said window).
If a survivor is running a straight line, shoot them.
If they're at a loop where you have limited LOS, loop it normally as if you were a hag.
Run perks like Pop to slow the game down.
If you've got any specific questions feel free to ask.

Use the pointy bit on survivors.
Quickscope is your friend. Walk back during reel.
You can reel survivors to windows - rare usability.
He has no map pressure so you have to bypass that with perks or hope for survivors stupidity.

His strength over the Huntress is his lack of a wind up time. You'll want to practice your aim and spend as little time aiming down the sights as possible. If you can nail those really fast shots, suddenly most loops will become unsafe.
Beyond that, once you've speared someone, just remember that walking backwards severely reduces the amount of side-to-side control the survivor has. If you notice that they're about to round a corner or obstacle, walk backwards until they're past it.
And last but not least, remember that you don't always need to shoot. Like the Huntress, some people try to dodge your shot so much that they lose a ton of distance and give you a free M1. This is great for you, you don't want to shoot whenever you don't have to. Getting an M1 without shooting gives you an opportunity to shoot them immediately after and get a quick down.

What does mean "pointy bit"?
My two cents. For quick shot, the tip of the spear is align with the center of the aiming. Use it to have a better notion and even precision from where your shot will land in the horizontal axis. Important to stop safe loops when you can shoot in less than one second.

I've played him basically only him since his release (since I for some reason love his gameplay even thou I don't really like shooters) and I'd say probably 3 things that I noticed during that time help me the most. Ofc I play red ranks and unfortunately you'll get game with really good survivors where you're not doing so hot and you'll lose but that' life of red rank killers, happens with every one.
So, the first most important thing is reeling while walking backwards. If you get a hit with Redeemer you'll in about 75% of scenarios want to go backwards if not all the time (for a full pull) at least a little bit, especially if the hit survivors is far away and there are potencial LOS blockers that they could use to break the chain and deny you the hit you've almost earned. Walking back while reeling strongly diminishes survivors ability to struggle to sides and makes them get reeled towards you much faster which is extremely important for long distance shots. If you have a short loop and can shoot over it, wait for right angle so that you can walk and reel easily to earn that hit.
Second is pure and simple aiming. You gotta be really precise with Deathslinger and not only at aiming right on to them but with predictions. Even with Redeemers projectile speed, some shots are just a little too slow to connect perfectly if the survivor move even sligtly to the side. If you've got time, wait and either sliglty spam the aim down sights or just purely hold aiming and wait for perfcet shot. Also, if there are not loops around, it's better to not go for a shot if you can earn it with just walking. You might miss and that can potencially make you lose a hit that you could have easily earned through just walking and slapping them.
Thirdly, it's basic killer knowledge when to drop a chase. As 110% killer, sometimes it's better to just try to go for the early Redeemer hit and if you miss, don't chase after them. You'll lose ton of time catching up and there is no guarantee that you'll even get them in time before gens pop. Learing map/loops layouts is essential to know what you can shoot over/hit over for playing Deathslinger. For example you can shoot survivors across Hadonfield fences, reel the close and get a hit through the fence. I bet there are far more much trickier places that you can get cheeky hits like that but unless by acident it's pretty tough to find them.
Overall if you want to play Deathslinger, the biggest issue to get better at is aiming. If someone was able to hit 100% of hits the are possible in every case that Deathslinger could have shot, reeled and connect a hit that would make him A+ killer. Unfortunately that's like finding nurse with 100% blink accuracy and probably even harder. You'll probably have a really hard time at first but once you get good at aiming you start to feel that he's not as bad as many people claim he is. I hope this helped at least a little.

Walking backwards makes the reeling faster? Any place you read that or just impression? I use to do that to get them out LOS blockers, but never realized the reeling was faster!

Unfortunately, I have no real proof then just gameplay observations. From experience walking backwards made them get reeled faster then just walking towards them no matter the distances. I've kind a stopped walking towards them unless situation calls for it so I've lost track of how it feels to walk towards them in long distance shots with no LOS blockers.
I would say that on 80% it's faster since from many shots that I've landed on groups of survivors, walking back pretty much always shuts down bodyblocking. They just can't get infrot of the reeled survivor if I walk back so my guess is that it faster but as I said, no real proof or testing was done on this by me at least.

Yeah, that i agree. You bring the survivor faster when go backwards cause you add the reeling speed plus your backpedal speed. Its sweet to avoid bodyblocking and to bring them out quickly from behind a LOS blocker.

Use your small terror radius and the fear of getting shot to get the first M1 and then follow up with the quick shot and reel them in for the down

Hag would just place a trap? Do you mean Huntress?
0 -
You know, just the tip.
I mentioned quickscoping because some 5Head at BHVR decided to lower sensitivity while ADS'ing which makes you unable to flick in most cases.

just put on monitor and abuse with make your choice and the add on that reduces terror radius when you aim down sights. congrats east 4k on a no skill killer.

I don't play Hag so I just assume they'd run it like a normal loop, I'm guessing by your reaction I'm completely wrong.

He needs to be buffed is what it is, these lackluster killers to appease survivor mains and their OP gameplay

what even is mending anymore? It's useless, the meter doesn't go down in near all situations and by the time you leave them its done. They can still use items, they can still run the same speed. useless man

No it's not because unlike legion the bar will continue to go down and goes down fast each time he hooks you and ive had PLENTY of games where deathslingers thought the ######### was funny and would wait until i was almost done mending to shoot outside their terror radius to make the mend start over but my time was still dropping. And apparently this is intended.

Yeah, Hag just places a trap and they run away... It's ok though, don't worry.

Worst case scenario, it's a time waster. It's another 12 seconds on top of that 16 second heal. A mandatory 12 seconds at that, you can't just choose to ignore deep wounds like you can for healing. But I also wouldn't undersell the value of the desaturated colours. It makes the stain way harder to see, which can give you a slight edge in a chase.

Hmmm, thats a good insight...

good hitbox killer. Nice

You can choose to ignore it though for the most part, because a survivor can simply use the attention with it to buy time to rush more gens while you're trying to complete one chase. It's even somewhat an advantage for them and if they have altruistic teammates they can double heal and it turns into like an extra 5 second heal, plus since it doesn't hinder ANYthing other than a measly extra 10 seconds regularly to sit there and prepare like you would using Self-heal..and then you can do the same thing again. There needs to be something, because it doesn't really help killers out.. slower running speed..can't use items like you can't in Madness 3..anything

Deathslinger is not skillful killer? Funny joke!

He is easily one of the most OP killers that has come out over the years. I play in red ranks and the guys who played him all of the PTR learned using Monitor and Abuse "abuses" his already tiny terror radius. Unlike Huntress, who has a song to let you know when she is approaching you, he becomes a stealth killer with a ranged attack. The time it takes to shoot someone is very short so you can easily abuse that too, by M1 into a quick harpoon is an easy down. The devs will most likely keep his terror radius small, so I'd say play like every other red rank killer and take Monitor <3
