Opening hatch with a key when downed

Currently there is no possibility to open a hatch with a key when downed. I don't really see a reason to this. If a survivor can muster the time and luck to make his way over a hatch with a key when downed, doesn't he deserve to escape? It's the killer's fault for slugging and he should have accounted the risk of the survivor carrying a key and escaping through a hatch, but currently this plays no part in the game at all.

I know that survivors have plenty of chances to escape, but I really don't see why killer should be rewarded by slugging players, when this could act as a risk for them to avoid slugging.

So you're saying we should reward survivors for failing to win a chase and in events were a survivor is slugged, which in many cases is required, they get a free escape which they didn't deserve in most cases.

If this ever is added then I'll be starting to think moris without hooking was balanced.

Well that's just one side of thing. I play both survivors and killers and I don't see this as something: "Survivors get this, so killer's need to get this" kind of situation. It's just idiotic to reward slugging.

That's why I run unbreakable. It's a perk that counters slugging.

If you fail to prepare to counter something you think could happen, whose fault is that? In all honesty you're saying you want to punish killers for your lack of preparation. If you don't want to be slugged, use Unbreakable. If you don't want to be tracked, there's perks for that. If you want to be able to heal yourself and allies faster, there's perks for that.

You can't have everything. All you can do is prepare as best you can.

I assume it is so that survivors can not escape if the killer downs them right before they get to the hatch.

Yes and while we're at it, let's have survivors being able to repair gens and open exit gates while downed, because slugging isn't fair and should be punished.

Yeah, I do believe that slugging is something that does not belong in dbd. It is a huge time waster and something no one wants to have to go through, but it happens constantly in many matches. Sure, unbreakable is a good perk to prevent slugging, but it feels like something you just have to have in your meta build, not because of strategic design, but because unless you don't have it, well, you are gonna have pretty awful time playing many of the matches.

I have been in so many games where the killer just won't pick me up, won't kill me off, won't let anyone rescue me, and won't let me off the game when the game is over. All this, beacuse slugging is a thing.

So how else are killers supposed to apply pressure? Camping is a strategy that only works against boosted or overly altruistic players. Tunneling is just an unhealthy strategy. If I just hook people, they can get saved quickly, have a free health state with BT, can get healed quickly with double healing or We'll Make It, and have DS activate, and the ONLY counterplay to DS is to slug or not tunnel, but against good survivors, tunneling is more often than not necessary. Slugging is currently the only viable strategy against good survivors, because survivors don't gain any benefits from it and they get slowed down. Any other strategy and you're fully relying on the survivors having a lower skill level than you. Sure some killers are douches and slug in a toxic manner, like letting people bleed out on purpose or slugging more than 2 people when there's still 4 or 5 gens left, but this doesn't mean slugging should be removed or even changed. The existing counter play to slugging is more than sufficient. And keys should not be buffed. To call them game changers is an understatement, they're game breaking. Same with mories. If either were to get buffed this would all be another 1.9.2. but with keys and mories instead of flashlights.
