Why are some perks yellow-yellow-green or green-purple-purple and not yellow-green-purple?
The way this rarity system works has caused a lot of confusion for me. Why didn't the devs make all perks yellow-green-purple rarity when they removed pink and brown rarity perks?

This is because of the level that you unlock the perks. For example:
I'm All Ears goes yellow-yellow-green.
Thrilling Tremors goes yellow-green-purple.
Furtive Chase goes green-purple-purple.
It's actually supposed to be Ultra Rare for tier 3 of a level 40 teachable. That's why most characters have 2 purple perks and 1 green perk. It's supposed to be 1 pink, 1 purple and 1 green. The Shape breaks this rule by having all pink perks, because they all start as green. It doesn't reflect how good the perk is. (Iron Will and Balanced Landing are only green, but are still good perks).

It's just their own brand of a rarity scale, it's mostly to reflect how strong a perk might be in the eyes of the developers, or so I believe anyways. There could be no hidden meaning behind it either, you never know unless they tell us outright.

Actually, it must be cause if the BP price. The devs see a perk and value its tier in 4, 5 or 6 k. Thats the only reason I can think.

Back then, there used to be common and ultra rare perks.
The patterns used to be: Brown - Yellow - Green
Yellow - Green - Purple
and Green - Purple - Pink.
The rarity patterns exist because rarer perks should cost more BPs than more common ones.

When they removed pink and brown rarity perks, why didn't they just make all perks yellow-green-purple? It would be a lot less confusing that way
