Forget gen times, let's talk about gate times

They're so fast to open, it's crazy! Like why even have them at all? A big problem is the hatch, because if someone opened it using a key or there's just one survivor left, closing it automatically powers the gates. That's just stupid. Even when there's one survivor left, if they have their hand on the handle as soon as the gates are powered, it's basically a 50/50 to get to them in time. If the gates aren't super close, or you just guess the wrong one to go to first, they escape for free. The gates probably take like 30 seconds, but it feels like 10. Remember Me should be the base time it takes to open the doors, and that way Remember Me would boost gate opening times even longer, that way it might actually see play above rank 18. Also, 99ing the gates is stupid. It's just like hitting a survivor off a gen and then they complete it half a second later because your cool down is too long. Make the survivors go through the full animation of pulling down the lever instead of .3 seconds of the animation and boom, the gate's open. With these changes, it will actually feel like the game isn't over the moment the last gen is done. Survivors will actually still be in danger if they beeline for the gates.

The only problem with this would be a map rework for The Game and Hawkins if this was to happen (which I will admit sounds good)

I've been saying for a while, Pop should be able to regress the gates.

    It'd be a nice idea, I think. =]

I tend to agree. I think that the gates should start to degrade, so it keeps them from being 99%ed as soon as the survivor takes their hand off the handle. Maybe a regression just like gens being kicked.

it would be nice to have as a killer main saying it but I’m a survivor main as well and on both sides it can be difficult cause when I’m survivor and the gates are to close and I’m the last 1 alive and killer camps them, it’s unfair. But as killers I feel likes it’s unfair when there far apart cause then by the time I’ll get there the gates all ready opened, but to be honest and fair I don’t think the devs can fix this without making people still disappointed and not only that they will have to give all maps a rework and my god.. another LERY’S rework, it will just take to long especially cause they will be reworking every map in the game for the breakable walls and a new visual look possibly.

Oh yeah, they definitely need to add breakable walls to the indoor maps. It takes so long to get from one gate to another.

Why not just have one exit gate?

Not doable. The killer can just camp and hold the game hostage. And despite not camping or holding the game hostage, I and others already get accused of that.

    Gates are exactly 20 seconds

Before anything else effects them that is.

    It could go up.

So much this. Gates on most maps are way too close together. Then there are a couple where they are too far apart. I had a match the other day where I did 3 generators by myself, pulled people off hooks, and healed people. I ended up being the last survivor left. Popped the last generator and head for the gate. As I get to the gates Billy is running back and forth between them. Had a completely unobstructed view from one to the other and it took him less than 3 seconds to get between.

While the killer did their job and shouldn't be penalized by having gates so far apart they can't possible cover both of them. As a survivor I did my job that match also, yet I was penalized with gates so close together that there was almost zero chance of escape.

Not happy with gate time? Just run Remember Me and be done with it.

Takes survivors seconds to open the gate and if it's opened and if you haven't been hit yet there is nothing the killer can do to you. There is the hatch. Two gates is so annoying

90% of the maps have gates that spawn on the same wall, with no Line of Sight blockers to stop a killer from just waiting in the middle for a survivor to pop up and just slay them easily.

They are NOT too fast. After all, if a killer failed to stop the survivors from completing every single gen and then failed to reach them when the gates were available, do you think they really need a third mechanic to stop survivors from leaving on top of the threat of Endgame, Rancor, NOED and the sorts?

Cause the killer can camp it making it so that way no one can escape, ever thought of that or no🙄

For people saying gates too close are a disadvantage. If there are 2 or more survs left at gate time. They can each get a gate and killer cant stop both of them.

Its really only disadvantage if theres only one surv left.

I tend to agree with the fixed distance argument. Since having them like 40 seconds from each other is painful. Especially when ur a slower killer like huntress/hag

How would it be that instead of opening them manually they open automaticly after a certain time span?

Say like 3 minutes or something. And maybe the time goes faster when survivors pull the handle

sorry it isn't 100% sure you get them. you don't always get what you want, not in videogames and not in real life.

Problem i have is survivors 99'ing the doors to cheese EGC.

Doors should start automatically regressing if not touched over a percentage.
