New to game, is this normal?
Hello friends. I am kinda into pc games and my friend tell me about this horror one. I just wanna ask if these gaps in ranks are standard and fair in this game? Cause i play 4 games totally and have nothing unlocked yet, why i am matched with people with 9 ranks above me? By they perks it seems they dont play this game as long as me? Can somebody from devs answer me?Btw veteran players how do you like game?

Unfortunately right now yes it is normal. There are rank 1s matching with 15s sometimes.
Fortunately, however, they are "working on" a new matchmaking system to fix this.
I love the game. I just dont care for a lot of the drama and bs on the forums and toxic players.

Unfortunately yeah, as of right now matchmaking is pretty scuffed, but the devs are working on a fix soon. And hey, you killed em all after what, 4 games? One even used a Yamoaka offering (one of the worst in the game for killers); 'grats, man.
Now as someone with around 1.5k hours, here's my trick to having fun:
I go into every match expecting to lose. I use builds I know are fun, killers I like to play, and go in trying my best to make sure everyone has a good time. If I get kills, even better, but honestly people saying nice things in chat like "Hey man, you played really well. Gg" or "Tough map, thanks for not camping us" means so much more to me than getting 4 kills.
Alternatively, as survivor, I do the same. Don't expect to escape, play to have fun instead of win, and if I escape then all the better. I've found the perk "Head On" is the best at doing this. It's so much fun to use even if it's not the best, and it doesn't tilt people too much.
After all, if you have no standards you can't be disappointed.
Also, set your own win conditions. The game doesn't really specify what constitutes a win or a loss, so it's all up to you, be it a 3k or a pip or whatever.
Another thing to look out for is the community. Both sides can be pretty toxic and love the "us vs them" mentality unfortunately. They'll often insult your perks or playstyle. All im going to say is play how you want. People may not like it, and may be more of an ######### back, but play how you want. Use whatever perks you want. Just know not everyone will always be happy (as is to be expected with an online game). Drill that in and you'll have a blast.
Tl;dr- Yeah that's normal, devs are working on a fix. I have fun by expecting to lose and playing for fun, anything else is an added bonus. Set your own win conditions, cause the game has none.
Hope I could help man.

Yes, it is normal, Devs have said they're working on a new system, we'll see how that goes.
As for you being new, I recommend you play Survivor. You will have less stress than playing killer and learn the game from a Survivors point of view, making you a better Killer in the future. Before you delve into Killer, pick one that you like and pour blood points into them using your Survivor to farm. It'll make it easier.

You got a 4k with trapper... so I mean, clearly it didn't matter they were that much higher than you. Your rank will match your skill in time.

Ouch. Sadly, this is normal.
At least you got a 4k so kudos to you!

Normal, yes. Fair, absolutely not. As others have mentioned, though, the devs are working on a new matchmaking system which should fix at least some of the issues with the current one.
As a veteran player, I like the game a lot, but I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that I never expected it to be perfectly balanced. Sure, there are things about it that frustrate me, but I went into the game knowing that those things existed, so I tend to have a more mild reaction along the lines of "that really ought to be fixed" when something goes really wrong.

So others have answered your questions, so I'll just add a little more information.
The grind in this game is no joke.
First all perks have three ranks, and there's no guarantee after you get lucky and get rank 1 of a perk you want you will get rank 2 in the next bloodweb. Some perks are useful at Rank 1 (discordance is actually more useful at rank 1 then rank 3) and some are completely useless.
Each killer has three teachable perks that unlock for other killers at level 30, 35, and 40.
After you unlock a teachable perk, you then have to wait for it to appear in the bloodweb of the killer you want the perk for by spending bloodpoints and cycling through bloodweb after bloodweb.
If you do nothing else, for your sanity, spend the five bucks and purchase Leatherface, he has the best bloodpoint perk in the game called BBQ and Chili. Level him, unlock it, and use it on your killers as you level them, it will double your bloodpoints as well as show you the auras of survivors a certain distance away from the hook.
As far as ranks and matchmaking in the early going don't worry about it, your goal right now should be nothing but bloodpoint maximization to get the perks you need on the killers you want to play to be successful in the long term. Good news for you is you earn 1.5X bloodpoints currently thanks to the bloodhunt going on.
Best of luck in the fog.

Can somebody tell when this matchmaking end? Devs talk about change it to be better, something just like new elo system, but i have to ASK myself again and again : if you dont have enough killers how change of machtmaking will fix it??? We will clone killers? How somebody like me will ever play killer again after see this matchmaking? And no i dont need listen: you got 3k so all fine. Cause this post isnt about lucky kills, it is about game desing.

Didn't you just make that post earlier, with the exact same picture and wording?
Anyway, to answer the original poster, yes it's normal. Don't worry though, rank often doesn't mean anything. You can run into somebody at rank 1 or 2 and before the game ends be thinking to yourself that they're probably rank 15 or something. Similarly, you can run into rank 17s and stuff that are only there because they don't play often, and they're actually pretty good.
