Newbies, just learn 122 perks
Wanna play a little game? Just try to NAME all 122 perks in the game. Bonus task: Assign their purpose.
Now I'm not saying new players need to know everything about the game from the start. Where's the fun of that? New things to learn is what keeps you playing. However, as soon as even dedicated players struggle to explain certain facets of the game you know something's odd.
The only reason not to remove half of the perks (that noone uses in the long run anyway) is likely to be the principle of teachable perks. But honestly, we could figure out something for that.
I mean, I'm in for occasional meta shifts, as long as they don't ruin key aspects (pun intended). However, even among 50 perks I bet there'd still be enough rework potential.
So yeah, I'd be quite happy if half of the perks with less usage got removed.
EDIT: Apart from Diversion. If Pebble made the list, I hereby withdraw my petition.

You can make that statement for any game, making a game simple for only the sake of new players is bad
WoW did it over 14 years and look where its at now

Try naming every character in League of legends and their abilities (4 abilities + a passive, others have more passives, more abilities) and all the items. Dbd is not that hard to learn, in under 50 hours (with youtube guides) i reached purple ranks and i was pretty good at looping, i knew a lot of perks ( even tho i played with basic perks like: SB, spine chill, adrenaline and q&q.. I only had meg at lv 50 :p)

Another reason why ranking is completely screwing this game. It is ridiculous that new players with roughly 100 hours get to the same rank as players with multiple 1000 hours. I still find people hiding in lockers or crouching behind rocks when facing a Legion.#
But I wouldn't remove the perks. As new player you wouldn't be having to learn so much instantly, because against other new players you would see less DLCs, more core characters. And everytime you face one, you will learn a bit more and check the perks after game to see a new effect that was happening. Step by step. But currently it is more like play 20 games, get to yellow ranks and matchmaking puts you into a rainbow group where everything can happen.

I'm not even too worried about those new players - that's just one part of the argument. It's just the fact that many if not most of the existing perks seem utterly useless [opening exit gates 15 % faster yay]. I asked myself to find a perk that was barely used after release, but made it into top meta with a later rework. Nada. Sure, some of those got kinda useful. I find it to be quite a shame though, that meta perks seem to be "out of reach" with regards to frequency of use - even after a nerf (exhaustion perks, BT, DS -> still dominant).

Do I get a prize if I win?

You take the words right out of my mouth! And that's the exact reason for why I think the amount of perks could easily be reduced, with the remaining perks being more decent each.

So, I had to learn over 200 skills in MHW, counting set effects, simple skills, weapon modifications and more. I have never seen anyone complain about "Theres too many, boo boo, remove Speed Eating and Polar Mobility, baa baa!".
Why? Because they add to the game. You dont like them? Thats fine. I can create fun and creative builds with them. Or just use them because I like them. They add to the replayability of the game.
The thing is, people expect all perks to be "viable". For instance, No Mither. Leads to interesting builds, yet people keep making up either overpowered changes or interesting concepts for completely new perks. Same deal with Any Means Necessary, expecting a pallet reset peek to not be niche. Like, come on.

I think the mass of perks, killers, survivors and maps is one of the reasons people are joining our community. Much content, very doge!

The sad thing is, I probably could. I like the names, they don't sound cringey or hyperbolic. All perks have a place, even you Monstrous Shrine, its just the challenge is actually using them efficiently. Most people would probably remove perks that I personally like playing with - Gearhead is pretty fun, I like the potential of Prove Thyself and Better Together (I really like the icon, as seen by my Profile) and recently, I've noticed the hidden gem of Buckle Up on indoor maps with For The People.

i can name nearly every perk for each killer and survivor, while survivor i often use random perk generator to mix it up you cant do that as killer if you dont wanna get bullied by a 4 man swf meta team, having said that though any new survivor can just pick up BT and DS and pretty much get to red rank as long as they play alot without the need of alot of skill as hook saves makes for easy pipping and points, you can buff almost every perk and balance ds and bt and then youd see more but be honest not many people run weaker perks when they can just have the strongest and thats why i made a post awhile ago adjusting every perk to make them all decent

There's no need to know every perks actually. It's so rare to see people use non-meta perks

It's really not that hard.
DS - Anti-tunnel
Unbreakable - Anti-slug
For The People - Anti-tunnel
Borrowed Time - Anti-tunnel assistance
No Mither - Anti-slug
It's actually quite easy...
