Recently after making a post about how I was convinced Legion was better then most killers, and receiving alot of vocal opinions about how he wasn't a good killer, I decided to put it to the test by playing 50 games against red rank survivors as The Legion.

I only allowed my self to use common or uncommon add ons and my perk build was Discordance, Hex: Ruin, Enduring and Make your choice.

The stats I collected were what map I played on, how many hooks I got, how many sacrifices I got, how many generators were remaining at the end of the trial and the survivors ranks.

This is fairly long, so there will be a short version at the bottom!

Here are the stats

To me this doesn't necessarily prove The Legion is strong, maps and luck with ranking played a huge part, aswell as if they were swf or not. I feel as if I had any way of telling if any matches were swf this would be far more accurate.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Here is each stat throughout the 50 games.

    The amount of times I played on each map;

    Shelter Woods: 6

    Dead Dawg Salloon: 5

    Fractured Cowshed: 4

    Azarovs resting place: 3

    Ironworks of Misery: 3

    Grim Pantry: 3

    The Temple of Purgation: 3

    Blood lodge: 3

    The Game: 3

    Mothers Dwelling: 3

    Sanctum of Wraith: 2

    Lampkin Lane: 2

    Hawkins Laboratory: 2

    Groening Storehouse: 2

    The Thompson House: 1

    Suffocation Pit: 1

    Wretched Shop: 1

    Disturbed Ward: 1

    Badham Preschool III: 1

    Badham Preschool I: 1

    The amount of hooks I got;

    Overall: 521 hooks

Per game: 10.42 hooks per game

    The amount of sacrifices I got;

    Overall: 182 sacrifices

Per game: 3.64 sacrifices per game

The amount of survivors who escaped through an exit gate: 9

The amount of survivors who escaped through a hatch: 9

    The amount of generators left at the end of a trial;

    Overall: 114

Per game: 2.28 generators remaing per game

    What ranks I came up against;

    Rank 1: 39

    Rank 2: 42

    Rank 3: 36

    Rank 4: 43

    Rank 5: 21

    Rank 6: 9

    Rank 7: 7

    Rank 8: 2

    Rank 9: 1

Does this prove the Legion is a great killer?

Because when I said I thought Legion was strong, most people didn't believe me.

Either way a killer is strong if you play it right. Just because he has a decent power that helps start the chase doesn't mean it takes no skill to win the chase.

It also proces something else, that right now red ranks survivors are a joke.

And I have a question here:

Are you able to tell how much o these matches had survivors with items? (picked in lobby)

Yeh many red ranks do need to get better, and I could've had a lucky draw myself with the ones I faced.

Although I don't remember exactly how much, usually I'd see 2-3, with alot of med kits. Very few maps.

(That was a joke correlating to BHVR's insanity fyi) 100% agree with you, i personally dont believe Wraith is top tier like Tru3 does, but i do believe he is a god tier Wraith, same goes for you and Leg. There's a Demo main out there that's better than a god Huntress, it's just that nobodies documented their existence.

I completely let that joke fly by (Its 2 am where I am and I'm tired af)

Thanks for the calling me that by the way, although I don't know if I'd consider my self a god Legion.

There's probably all sorts of god players out there, even for the weaker killers like Clown and Bubba that no one had really seen.

Can you recall the number of games in which Ruin was cleaned... and if it happened in the begginning/middle/end of the match?

As a legion main that has around 800 hours only on that character and the matches end roughly as yours end (generally 4ks)... This isnt me bragging about my games, this is just to say that my opinion doesnt come out of nowhere.

I, personally, think that legion isnt all that weak, but doesnt go above B tier either. Legion has many things that dont make sense and are loose ends from the 1st legion that we got. Ex: hitting someone with deep wounds does nothing but punishing you for hitting a survivor again.

My general opinion on legion is that the devs only have around 2 choices: either give legion a major quality of life update or completely rework them and get rid of deep wounds simply making their power to be good at chases.

Legion is very badly seen in the community and i completely understand and support it because after all, your chase pontential is just to m1 the survivor and there is no power usage to spice it up (nothing to master there, basically).

Also, i think that the devs picked the most boring part of this killer in the rework for both sides and that is to chain hits.

As much fun as it sounds on paper, the survivors need to mend (holding m1 for 12 seconds) and legion just runs knowing that they cant kill anyone in that state and will have a headache at the end. This isnt fun for both sides.

Loose ends from old legion that i can remember at the moment:

    • Hitting someone in deep wounds does nothing. Why?
    • Hitting someone out of frenzy drops the power by half. Why?

Things that make no sense to be in his power:

    • Not being able to see blood pools. Why?
    • Not being able to see deep wound timers. Why?
    • Missing a hit ends the power AND drops the gauge. Why?
    • The power can only be casted when its full and having a 20 seconds cooldown. Why?
    • Hitting someone injured does nothing. Bad design, but justified (needs a rework).
    • 70% of their add ons are bad/useless for their rarity
      • Franks mixtape: i made some testings and you need around 80 seconds to down someone with your power IF the survivor is right beside you and you can hit them right when the power comes again. Also, this add on promotes very negative gameplay.
      • Stab wounds study: As franks mixtape is useless, i consider this add on to be the worst add on in the entire game (even the ones that make your power worse are better because at least give you bonus bloodpoints). Deep wounds is not a threat since the update and isnt a 25 seconds timer instead of 30 that will even slightly change that.
      • Fuming mixtape is actually decent (unpopular opinion btw).
      • All cooldown add ons: the values are a joke. In my opinion, the fatigue duration with the 2 best cooldown add ons should be base. Need a rework if this change goeas through.
      • All add ons that increase the detection range: they make you go after someone you cant catch most of the time. They would be good if they would also increase the movement speed while in frenzy.
    • The power has almost no utility besides hitting multiple survivors in close range and giving you a easier hit at chases if the survivor is healthy.
    • There are many people that say that it also helps you on map travel and that is WRONG, it hurts you. Without add ons: in frenzy you walk 60.8 meters in 14 seconds (10 duration+4 fatigue) and out of frenzy you walk 64.4 meters in 14 seconds.
    • Not being lethal and having the biggest fatigue/stun in the game.

Imo ignoring all survivors defenses is always a bad idea that leads to this, but the devs are fine with it so we can just slowly leave the game as ive been doing or accept it if you want.

Legion needs TONS of QoL updates and slight buffs but, preferably, they need a rework. Because it doesnt matter how many buffs this curret version of feral frenzy gets, the legion wont stop being an m1 killer in the end.

I am fine playing as the legion in a competitive way because i have lot of experience in the game and know how to play on tiles, but anyone that wants different gameplay will never choose a killer that has nothing to offer in a chase. At least, this is what a friend of mine told me after trying legion.

Again, this is not to brag, is just to tell my point of view with max clarity.

Thank you for coming to my TEDx talk.

gotta be honest, i aint reading this massive wall of text

tip; if you gonna collect data like this, its best to put it all in a simplified format like charts, then add details below instead of each game 1 by 1

Usually destroyed mid match, very rarely early or late match, however on both of my 1ks it was destroyed very early.

I'm glad you went this in depth about Legion and what you think about him, and I would agree he needs a buff of some sort, whether it be a rework or not I don't know, but often I found myself not even using my power because it wasn't good in the situation.

Like you said, there are many things that make 0 sense in his power, and they should probably look at them.

I find the same problem as you do most of the time. Legion before the update was the 2nd killer that you would use your power the most in a single match, and now its the absolute opposite.

    I didnt like it :/

  • MrDardon
    MrDardon Member Posts: 4,036

The thing is, you can be ok or even good with every Killer and lose against good Survivor or you are either a God with only 3-4 Killers, win almost every match but therefore sacrifice variety.

It's all about experience. I started to play a lot of Oni because he seems to have great potential while also playing Huntress and Billy a lot.

I still play every Killer for variety but those 3 are my Main to go Killers where I want to get better, where I have like a "ok, I know I can win with this Killer" feeling.

  • BenZ0
    BenZ0 Member Posts: 4,125

You seem to get alot of bad survivors, when I play against a Legion alone or with swf we loop him always for ages and manage always to escape all 4 or 3 if someone get camped at the endgame.

If you meet bad survivors or really altruistic survivors then every killer can get 4ks, its more about how well or sirious they play.

  • MrDardon
    MrDardon Member Posts: 4,036

Yeah, but how often do you get those Top Tier Survivors. I either lose when I get them and that's rare or when I played extremely bad and made many mistakes. But getting those top Survivors is pretty rare.

SWF is an exeption, because they can do poorly around loops, get downed within 10 seconds and still escape because they can coordinate on the gens because of comms.

But 4 man Top Solo Teams are the true "Ultra Rare" in this game.

Ok, I will ask you this : what killers do you think are weaker than Legion ?

Because honestly, I only think that Clown and mayyyyybe Trapper are weaker than him.

Very cool, OP. While it's always difficult to draw conclusions from data from DBD because there are so many variables, one conclusion can be made: you're a badass Legion. What outfit do you wear? I use Susie's Christmas sweater

  • Cheers

For me, there are a lot of killers I'd consider weaker.

These would be Clown, Bubba, Plague, Pig, Demogorgon, and possibly Trapper and Deathslinger.

And by the way is Ruin good by itself or paired with Discordance?

Also I use Susie's Extracurricular outfit, one of my favourite cosmetics in the game!

  • Cheers

It definetly helped by itself especially that I'd hit a survivor with feral frenzy and the gen would regress for about 20 - 30 seconds, discordance also helped with this as it allowed me to hit more people, but ruin would have been fine by itself.

Cool... with Legion coming up in the archives it would be nice to get used to how they play

Also I have been playing them a little more often and have them at lvl 50... so here's to having decent luck in bloodwebs

Hopefully people learn him, and actually see that he's stronger than what kost people think.

Let's hope when we both prestige we don't get discordnace up to tier 3, like I have already.

If Ruin being destroyed early correlated with a loss in every match you recorded, doesn't that just prove that Ruin is a very strong perk? It's hard to come to a conclusion about Legion in particular here because of that very strong and variable perk.

  • RaSavage42
    RaSavage42 Member Posts: 5,549

RIP, me too... some perks are better off being T1

Or need to be worded better... lol

  • Cheers
    Cheers Member Posts: 3,426

Depends, I had many matches that Ruin was destroyed early, but not all of them had someone escape through the gate. Ruin is a great perk on Legion as he can force survivors to mend instead of being on gens, but isn't strong on other killers.

Instead of saying that the perk is very strong, I'd say that the perk pairs very well with his power.

  • Cheers
    Cheers Member Posts: 3,426

They should just give us the option to switch between tiers, or like you said word it better, because so many people upgrade that to T3 without even knowing its worst.

I heavily disagree with Plague being weaker than Legion.

    Same with Demogorgon.

I could see a point for Pig.

I think Bubba is more of a threat than Legion with Nemesis + Play With Your Food.

  • CyberianFaux
    CyberianFaux Member Posts: 232

Honestly, my experience with Legion mirrors this person's. I don't think it is because we are god tier legions either but rather that people underestimate the usefulness of interrupting every single survivor on gens using their power at least some of the time during the match and the ability to get the first health state of survivors for free. I just believe legion is good at setting up potential snowball with the injures and whether people heal from it or not just helps legion because most run Thana and Dying Light together. Unlike some of the other killers though, you have to be just as good at being a M1 killer for long enough to capitalize off of this.

Not going to lie though, I find legion boring because of how well I do with them and I start feeling like their power isn't flashy enough to retain my attention. Also, I would've never mentioned how I felt about legion's strength if it wasn't for this post because I understand just how much it seems you are swimming upriver with this topic.

  • Cheers
    Cheers Member Posts: 3,426

    Oh thanks for that Savage.

    @Ivaaan

I use Hex: Ruin as Feral Frenzy keeps people off gens.

Discordance allows me to know where multiple survivors are which allows me to chain hits.

Make your choice has many people make mistakes in a chase aswell as staying off gens for those 60 seconds.

Enduring so that I can play much more cocky and if I'm stunned during my power I have a short delay.

  • Cheers
    Cheers Member Posts: 3,426

Plague because she has to have survivors cleanse for her power to have more than one use (which usually good survivors won't).

I personally just never have problems facing Demo, although I can understand why anyone would disagree with me.

With good perks and a long set up Bubba can have a practical win in a chase with these two perks, but has to have a long set up. It can work but only against the right kind of survivors.

  • Cheers
    Cheers Member Posts: 3,426

As you said, you essentially you need to be great in the chase with no power, however even Hillbillys have to be like this sometimes.

I understand how you can get bored of playing one killer constantly, so usually I try and switch it up with multiple killers.

The only reason I made this was simply people said that they were in the worst 3 killers, while I considered them atleast B tier so I wanted to see was he truly bad or not.

  • Marcus
    Marcus Member Posts: 2,047

1 use should be enough for you to snowball if you manage it right. Apples also exist and ironically I saw that survivors who cleanse have better chances at escaping than survivors who don't. I definitely see her much stronger than Legion.

While Cannibal is still not a very good killer even with this combo, I think he's better than Legion. Legion also needs the "right kind of survivors" in order for his power to work.
