Camping idea?
Not sure if this was discussed before but could the hook timer be paused while the killer is within say 16 meters of the hook and not in a chase? This way most killers who aren't memeing or just being purposely stupid wouldn't just face camp first person hooked.

And what if the killer hooks someone in the endgame? Is the killer supposed to let what would be an almost guaranteed kill escape escape easily? Plus, if it is paused then the survivor would just be camped until the endgame ends. If it is paused as well then the survivors would have infinite chances to get the survivor if they dont open the gate, if more than one of them is injured they can just run to the gate and heal, then go again and again and again since the hook timer will never end

Nah, if you chasing a survivor and he lure you to the occupied hook, paused timer will be unfair.
I think entity just should constantly wisper to killer "CaMPinG Is gAy" while he located near hooked survivor

When last gen is popped timer starts up like normal.
If killer is chasing someone then timer is running like normal.

it didn't work as fluidly as you might think right off the bat.
also, by applying your changes, it wouldn't be difficult for a killer to keep the game in hostage, even unknowingly for new players, and with grieving intents for experienced players.

Maybe if they make it so long as:
-The last gen hasn't popped
-There are no survivors in that same radius
-There's at least one survivor not hooked
Gen times would have to be slightly increased to compensate. (Maybe 90 seconds instead of 80).

They could just disable that mechanic once the generators are powered. It's as easy as that.

I don't think gen times need to be increased though. Map changes and the changes we are getting to gens in the next patch would be enough. Killers can already be strong enough without camping to win matches. So a nerf to camping doesn't mean gen times need to be increased.

As far as I know they only tested this idea without any other conditions than that the killer is near a hook. There are adjustments that could be made to not make it abusable.

Yep, everyone always comes in with the “this was tried before and it didn’t work” reply. To my knowledge, the emblem penalty for camping was added in after that test and was NOT included. Of course it wouldn’t work without something like that. If hook progression was tied directly to the emblem penalty mechanic, meaning if killer is engaged in a chase or another survivor is near the hook...it simply wouldn’t apply when that happens.This in addition to it being disabled when gates are powered seems very easy to try out.

Yes exactly. The chaser emblem already has the proper conditions of when to penalize camping, so I don't get that argument either.

Gen times increased to compensate the killer for time lost from trying to move away from the hook. (Not to mention time spent breaking pallets and kicking gens in that radius.) It'd also make the idea more palatable for killers.

I just want to say i could care less about being camped. If it happens oh well i move on to the next game. I was just thinking about the people who do complain.
So to expand on the original comment.
Hook timer is paused while killer is within a certain distance. Unless the last gen has been powered or the killer is in a chase.
So survivors hanging out around the hook waiting for killers to leave is even more stupid to do than it is right now as accidentally getting in a chase would cause the timer to start back up.
Hooked survivors being camped get points for 'distracting' the killer.
The distance from the hook would need testing.
Also i think struggle phase would need to be automatic.

I agree with you. There are certain times when camping is useful, for instance securing a kill at end of game. My idea would not effect that at all.
If people are swarming hooks for saves more than likely you can start a chase with them, causing hook timer to act normal.
The idea is just the whole face camping to be a douche thing, while also giving the face camped person some benefit.

I do hate face camping too, and usually it's just because you looped them for 5 gens, but it's a rare occurrence to be face camped.
