Survivor main just picked up killer and whoa boy
Some upfront info: I play PC and Xbox. Mostly Xbox at the moment since I'm an old school controller player. I only play killer on Xbox and I'd say I have about 60hrs as killer right now all told. And before anyone says 'oh wait until you get red ranks'. Oh, I have faced red ranks and there is usually a high rank survivor or two in my lobby. Even some of the lowranks have a ton of hours (and escapes). I am also a red rank survivor, so I feel I know somewhat the skilllevel of high ranks on console.
Anyway, some things I understand now that I could not understand as survivor:
-Good Lord some maps are too huge. I played Clown for the first time and I got Coldwind Farm in 8 of 12 matches. I wanted to DC around the fourth time but I didn't. Also played at Badam, Yamaoka (as hag *tears*), Red Forest and Haddonfield. So as far as this new patch goes, I can't wait.
-Hiding survivors can be annoying as all get out. My first six games with clown I thought I could flush people out with my tonic. At least one survivor in every lobby had urban and 2-3 spine chills featured each game. :( So I switched to Hag with whispers and BBQ.)
-Haddonfield is the devil. (Granted I don't like this map as survivor either)
-Pallet blinds are also the devil. Chain blinds even more so. ( I never use flashlights so at least I'm not a hypocrite.)
-People take this game way too seriously. (Actually I knew that playing as survivor).
-Hag is TOO short. She is my main. I love her, but corn, high grass, the statues in Yamoaka can make her lose sight of her prey super easy.
-BBQ or some people-finding perks are essential in game. I never minded BBQ as a survivor but judging from the amount of survivors that hide all game, it is absolutely necessary to be more efficient at staying in chase.
-People are sleeping on Adam dressed in all black. Everyone is focused on Blendettes but Adams can ghost the entire game. Then once you do hook him, he uses Deliverance. eyeroll
-Sometimes people just gotta get hit. Hey, I stopped complaining about tunneling long ago. I just run the killer to the best of my ability. I'm still not down with camping as a strat, and I don't tunnel intentionally but injured survivors are not only noisy but often have no idea how to get out of the way. So just like the survivor saying if it glows it goes, if you just wanna sit, you're going to get hit. E.G. injured survivors take your loud selves far away and not just around the corner where I can hear you, mmkay? (that being said if I see a survivor I didn't just hook, I will go after them every time).
I encourage people to play both sides, only then will you see the frustration from both ends. Then maybe we can stop finger-pointing, game-shaming, and skill-flexing.

Well yes rank 20 is obviously full of immersion.

All ranks are full of immersion on xbone. I'm a rank 3 survivor. Usually see one or two urbans on the aftergame scoreboard.

Bad players are everywhere too, rank doesn't matter, 15-20 is just especially bad because of the 15 cap.

Welcome to the land of diversity where only Oni, Freddy, Billy, Spirit, Nurse, and Doctor stand a fair chance to win against good survivors.

I've been seeing UE used more recently... Rank 7 killer on Xbox (even though rank doesn't matter much)

I see UE paired with Spine chill in many of my high rank survivor games, not to mention blendettes that don't move when they hear the terror radius. Survivors do rank up too fast now so this could be part of the problem. And as I said, I've faced rank 15 and 14s that clearly belong in purple and red ranks, so yeah rank doesn't matter much.

Rank doesn’t even matter I’ve been going against rank at least one rank 1-4 every match since rank 13 or so as killer with a 5-6 rank and maybe a 10 rank sprinkled in. Today at rank 11 all rank one survivors in a single match. I would be higher but been working on the house a lot the past few weeks so been slacking on more than just dailies but my rank don’t matter as killer as that is about the same every single match.

don't forget hag...she can wreck some #########

Yes, now I understand why they are used so much. I mean I'm never going to like Freddy but he can give maps like Red Forest the proper pressure. Perhaps with the new map changes we will see more diversity in killers being viable. At least it's a start.

I'm cool with people forgetting her and thus not learning how to play around her. She's my second most played killer.

I play a lot of Pig with good results... and the map changes will help me out just a little bit

I have to say don't ever, EVER play killer, on pc, with a controller. You will lose. It's just the nature of dedicated server movement, even the enhanced sensitivity in the upcoming patch will not be enough to track those stimulant-addicted survivor models. I also love controller, I have also tried pc controller a lot, and I have curled into a ball and wept as my basic attacks somehow get 360'd. Not lunges. Basic attacks.

lol yes, I know I only play killer on Xbox because m&kb have superior range of motion on PC. I do play controller on PC as a survivor and I do all right. I will say that there are a handful of killers that do quite well with controller on PC. Might I recommend you check out Brother_Cope shortened to just Cope now on Twitch. He plays with a PS4 controller. He can play with m&kb but I think he is most comfortable with the controller. Red rank survivor and killer, plays 50/50.

Throw god Hags in there too.
Anyone else you need to get very lucky with.

These posts have been around for awhile, usually its a killer main stating they play 'both sides equally'.
Curious if you've done a similar post for survivor and link it to me, because it would change my entire opinion of the OP.

Well, the point is that survivor is far easier than killer. Killer really have issues with the balance, thats why you see those posts about killers and not survivors. And yes, they come from people who experience both sides. Give it a try, and you might learn.

Huntress? Hag? Ghostface? Deathslinger?
I dont want to start another "You can win with every killer" discussion, but those 4 are definitly also very viable.

The things is, more killer become viable because the - well, the quality of survivors is sinking, in my opinion. the amont of games where i do the majority of gens while the rest spends time in chases and running behind the killer with flashlights, or just 1 hidding near the hooked survivor while the other survivor runs the killer around said hook is surprisingly high.
And while its ok if it happens with green rank survivors, its soo often red rank survivors nowadays.

Had a match the other day vs rank 1 survivors who literally spent 2 minutes immersing waiting out Corrupt Intervention. Immersion knows no rank.

lol
Killer is easier to play now then at any point after release.
Take a DBD history lesson, give it a try, and you might learn.

Agreed. I hate maps like Haddonfield as Piggy. Last two games there have been 2 gens popped before I've had a hook. First one ead before seeing a survivor!

Well, thats true, but has nothing to do with my post. That killer is easier now dosnt mean its balanced. Beside, survivor is still a lot easier than killer, and less stessfull.

So, given the trajectory of the game is there a magical point where your little theory doesn't hold, or does it just continue, forever, until the end of time.
0 -
Well, since you think balance is magic, i dont think i have anything more to say.
0 -
Now now, don't be like that.
We can have a conversation about balance, but we need to get past your tribalistic talking points first.
Which AREN'T about balance, I mean if you said something to the effect of killer is like an action movie where as survivor is like suspense/thriller. Even if you'd gone with its a 4v1, so killers have more to do, but survivors have to do more with less.
But whatever, at this point I'm doing your job for you.

Welcome to the dark side of playing both roles, we hope you enjoy your stay (all 4 of us here) and welcome you to be our fifth member with open arms.
No but in all seriousness more people need to play both roles in this game and I'm glad you made the switch. You'll also find you have much more fun now because if one side gets too much (face camping bubba for the ninth time in a row or a single match on haddonfield) then you can switch to cool off.

Hag can destroy pretty easily teams aswell

its sad,the killers should have the upper hand or at least to have a fair game agaitns survivors because he's the killer but that's so far from the truth right now
