Can you open the hatch with a key twice in a game?
Hello,
I was playing a game as survivor where 2 of my teammates had a key (a purple and a pink one). I picked up the purple key after its owner got sacrificed. My 2 other teammates then left through the hatch with the pink key, and the killer closed the hatch and downed me.
Since he was slugging me I crawled to the hatch but could not open it (even though I still had the purple key). I then recovered with Unbreakable but still wasn't able to open the hatch (I ran around and over it while looking at it and spamming m1). I'm wondering if it was a bug or not.
After that game I was left with these questions:
1) Can you open the hatch while you are downed (in the dying state)?
2) Can you reopen the hatch after it was closed by the killer after having been opened a first time with another key? I know you can reopen it if it openend by itself first.

I'll answer both of these in their own separate questions. It'll be short and sweet, right to the point.
- [Question #1] (Can you open the hatch while you are in the dying state?)
- [Answer #1] (No, you can't open the hatch while you're downed/in the dying state, you can only open it when you're in the healthy or injured state.)
- [Question #2] (Can you reopen the hatch after it was closed by the killer after having been opened a first time with another key? I know you can reopen it if it openend by itself first.
- [Answer #2] (Yes, you can theoretically open the hatch 4 times in a row if every Survivor has a key. If The Killer closes the hatch after it was opened, than you can re-open it again and again and again, right up until every Survivor has escaped.)
You probably couldn't open the hatch a 2nd time because you were downed, if you're downed than you can't open the hatch with a key. It's a weird mechanic, but that's how it works. You probably couldn't open it after you got up because of the key bug that sometimes happens. What is the key bug? Well, it's when the key doesn't let you use it until you drop it and pick it up again, than it will allow you to open the hatch like normal.
It's a strange bug, but it's been known for awhile now.

I think you can reopen it and I'm pretty sure you cannot use a key while downed

Btw the hatch also reopens by itself when it was opened with a key and closed with more than one survivor alive. Just when the hatch is closed after the second last survivor escapes or dies, the hatch stays closed.

Ok thank you for the info. I was the last survivor alive when the killer closed the hatch. After that I was unable to reopen it. Btw I was in the clown's gas, I dont know if this changes anything.
Then maybe it was some sort of bug ? I couldn't reopen it even after recovering from the dying state with Unbreakable.

The fog doesn't do anything. And just because I'm not sure if it was clear, here detailed steps.
3 survivors in game, one with key. He jumps through the hatch, killer closes it and 2 survivors still in the game. If they have a key, they can reopen the hatch with it, but not while in dying state. But the second survivor dies. One survivor left, and the hatch opens again.
So no matter what happened before, as soon as there is one survivor left alone, the other three either escaped or died, the hatch will open
