What would a "Dead by Daylight 2" game look like?

No way in hell I want something like this, that's not the point of this thread. This isn't Blizzard where they make Overwatch 2 for no reason and then make people pay for it.

I'm just curious how it would look like? What would it include? New killers and survivors? A better character unlocking system? Blood market from Dead by Daylight mobile, perhaps?

Itd pretty much just be what Overwatch 2 is really no matter how you look at it. Dead By Daylight is one of those games you cant have a sequel to. Much like For Honour. You could imagine the most there will be is updated features, different lobby screen. What killers could you include that for some reason you couldnt put in the first. Itll honestly just be the same garbage that the first has and then some. Right now they come out on mobile. Which it's probably the only platform the game can actually play as intended. PC and console are a mess that will never be fixed at this point. No matter how many they fix, for every 1 comes 2 more. Imagine that on DBD2, because it's new, they'll try experimenting on new engines for it, heck they're 'secretly' doing it already with this one. If they made a DBD2, its be what Fallout 76 was on first day. A 75gb update after you've played the game for an hour.

probably only different in terms of lore, gameplay would be the same, another reason why this game doesn't need a second game.

I think if there was a Dead by Daylight 2, it would be something like Minecraft: Bedrock Edition.

Dead by Daylight... But without the spaghetti coded mess.

It would be like the hide or die game, the first days everyone will be hyped about it and then forget about that game. Also if they can't fix the first dead by daylight, why would they make a second one? Just another broken game rofl!!

I assume you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to fixing DBD.

Dead by Daylight is only as buggy as it is for the same reason PAYDAY 2 is as buggy as it is. The more you add content, the more bloated the software becomes. The more bloated it becomes, the more messy the spaghetti code is. A whole new sequel would bring Dead by Daylight a fresh start with a fresh new engine and new code to write that isn't a buggy mess.

    DBD 2 takes a 360 and becomes a Turn-Based RPG.

Survivors select roles (Medic, Mechanic, etc) and items before grouping up to take on Killers.

Killers select character (Hunter, Wraith, etc) and use their boss-like, immense stats and abilities to take down the Survivors.

Survivors have few actions and must decide carefully on where to dedicate them, working with others will get a task done faster but an single Survivors actions can be used to do side objectives and help others.

The Killer has many actions, decide whether to capitalise on an individual or create havoc amongst the group and slow their progress down.

The stakes on the game get higher as the match goes on, will a hooked Survivor be saved whilst NOED is active or will the remaining Survivors leave to secure their fate?

**DS will still the most complained about Perk in this game as well.

By "content" you mean clothes no one asked for, right?

A DbD2 would probably have a change in game mechanics, that would fix "flaws" current DbD has and other improvements:

    • Perk tiers: Perk can be designed without scalability in mind.
    • Hooks/Sacrifices: Probably hooks would work different to make tunneling and camping less reliable
    • Gens: A slightly different Gen mechanic, which would probably be a little bit more than holding M1
    • Survivor items: Definitively a rethought of any item ingame.
    • Survivor difference: Making survivors more different ingame. Maybe through a class system...
    • More Cosmetics: More than just the standard three cosmetic + charms choices.
    • SWF vs. Solo: A rethought to make teamplay a must rather than an option in gameplay.
    • Map pressure: Probably a natural map pressure mechanic for killers.

That is wishful thinking of course. But theoretical there would be a lot of space of improvements that Devs would/could come up, if starting from new. You still have to consider that DbD became much bigger than initially thought and many issues are caused with a different design philosophy in mind back then. But I don't see it happening that soon. I just hope that Behaviour will at some point consider a jump to a sequel rather to a overbloated continuation before DbD reaches it end at some point in acouple of years. But most likely we would see a Spin-Off game in another but similar genre first, if anything else.

Yes, lets just forget the heaps of killers with unique powers as well as maps that are added into the game.

hell no,this game needs a lot of fixing and improvement and I rather still play dbd for years to come while it gets changed over time and improved with new contents and mechanics and game modes than have a ######### dbd 2 that will probably miss a lot of content because making a new game requires tons of work, money effort and time, nobody knows since its never gonna be a thing, hopefully.

I would love a fresh start, to be honest. It would get rid of all the sweaty players because they'd have to grind all the way up to what they had again.

DBD Mobile was already kind of a fresh start, and I love the style they did the new stuff in it. Blood Market is a unique addition in my opinion, and so is the character leveling system. Would also love it if DBD on PC also had these features. And all survivor inventories being one big inventory? Mmmmmm... The dream...

But in that case I would make it so that certain items are more rare than usual in the Blood Market, like for example the Utility Flashlight.

So we have to wait months for "content" to just get the game broken again with the new updates? I also never forgot when they released mettle of man to sell Ash, then when everyone bought him, they nerfed it. This is a good game and has potential, but the devs are scammers.

  • Bovinity

That's pretty standard for games that release new stuff like this. Release it in a state where everyone wants it, then nerf it.

  • DelsKibara
    DelsKibara Member Posts: 3,127

I'm pretty sure a lot of people also bought Ash because it's Ash from Evil Dead. Not because of the perk. Calling them scammers is not only a stretch, but factually incorrect.

Same thing just way less coding, bug free, smooth gameplay like butter, fixed hitboxes.

dead by daylight 2: Double the grind

all the same killers but slightly different

new maps that use the same layout but slightly different assets

and it wouldnt be dbd without that spaghetti code

    tada, dbd 2

Funny because I bought Ash for the perk and they nerfed it the day after, but oh well lmao.

I'm sure most people bought it because they buy everything or because they love Ash vs Evil Dead.

It would have to be an OW 2. I don't want all of my progress gone. I would hope that it will have all of our progression (Characters, skins, and whatever else) transfer to DBD 2. Have a reworked new game mode and have the classic one there too(for people who still want to play the old version, maybe) Better graphics, new characters, new mostly everything. A Big rework of the bloodweb, a lot more less grind so more people can enjoy the game and new players feel less intimidated.

A game where killers don't have to be humanoid, but can be any kind of creatures. We could finally get a giant spider killer and things of this nature.

It would have to be totally different game. It's not possible that DbD2 would be just a better version of DbD1 when so many people have spent so much money on it. Just imagine Valve releasing Team Fortress 3 and all the wrath of people who bought those hats through the years just seeing that soon the game they spent so much money on will be outdated.

DbD2 would have to be a new experience, something different from DbD1 to achieve any success.

I personally would picture DBD2 being a new experience with different gamemodes, although it would still include the current one. New killers, survivors and perks, as well as new maps and new mechanics. Most importantly though, a new engine with less complicated code. Better ping servers and multiple types of killer powers and mechanics, maybe?

    It would balance around SWF.

It would give solo que survivor a set of tools to be on par with SWF

It's killers would not be a joke for SWF to toy with.

It would require an entirely different dev team with an actual quality control process.

It would probably just be horrible, they can barely handle dbd they would just mess up on a second one even worse than the state dbd is now

A sequel to the game would crash and burn. Nobody wants to watch all the effort they put into this one just completely go to waste to do the same thing all over again. The only way it would be worth it is if the 2nd was completely better. And if they could make a better version of DbD, they would.

The best they could do for a sequel would be a similar style game with different store and mechanics. And in case everybody's forgotten, they tried that.

They lucked out with a good concept on this game that was enough to make up for the lack of balance and fixing core gameplay issues. But Deathgarden is a prime example of what happens when BHVR puts out a game that doesn't have a theme awesome enough to cover for their limited development abilities.

Less spaghetti code and more optimization. I heard DbD mobile runs better than DbD on consoles lmao

dbd is still a single mode alpha/beta with 10 layers of grind to artificially extend it. Let them finish the first game first.

I would like to see a 2 vs 4 game. But not 2 killers vs 4 survivors.

    1 Entity + 1 Killer vs 4 survivors.

I'm going to layout the base game without going into every detail or try to resolve every flaw.

Entity gets more powerful the more hooks. Entity has full visibility of the map, but cannot see/hear survivors. He can however, setup traps and help out the killer.

Right now the game has 3 stages.

    1. Complete generators
    2. Open the exit gate
    3. Find the hatch

I would like to see the following changes

    1. Survivors gather resources and setup defenses
    2. Jungle Gyms are blocked off resources until generators are completed or by completing a secondary objective during stage 1
    3. As the killer gets more hooks, The entities power becomes stronger and he can lock tiles that favor survivors and create passages that help the killer navigate the map. (specific details to be determined) And the entity can possess inanimate objects and animals. (dolls, animals, etc, varies by map)
    4. Once 5 generators are powered, EGC starts immediately (but with more total time than the current EGC) The timer does not get slowed down for any reason. However, when the timer hits zero it's not an immediate death. Instead the entity itself enters the map and is a super killer with powers meant to quickly kill the remaining survivors.

It would flop so unbelievably hard
