Timout system, dc penalties.

Member Posts: 16

Soo recently due to the presure on the internet lines

alot of people are losing connection in matches

so what if they add a timout system for at least 20 seconds

since internet comes back quickly

instead of kicking the player and giving them dc penalty..

Usually if you're wifi was to disconnect it would be out for a minute or two.

Because the way they wrote the network code doesn’t allow for reconnects. The second it loses a single Packet of data it’s in a corrupt state.

Plus what would you do with the people while disconnected?

If it's a killer, do the survivors just get X amount of time to freely do whatever they want? Does the game grind to a halt and everyone just sits there hoping the killer shows back up (and does the game just start back up so hope you're ready as soon as they reconnect, especially if you were in the middle of running away)?

If it's the survivor, do they just disappear? What if it's in the middle of a chase and now they get away for free (either because they had bad luck with a connection or decided to do their own quick disconnect/reconnect)? If they don't disappear, what happens to them during the struggle phase on the hook or when the person gets unhooked?

    i don't mean reconnect

But in dbd if u lose connection for like 1 or 2 seconds you will get kicked unlike other games that will kick you after 20 seconds at least

due to covid sometimes net is going off :)

Bots. The mobile version has bots that take over until the player returns. The have similar things in other games, like Heroes of the Storm. The bots don't play as well as a player would, so it would not be an advantage for someone to deliberately disconnect.
