Anyone else burnt out???
I've played this game on xbox since day one. Mostly killer player but I play survivor here and there with my one friend who plays this game lol. Before you say anything, survivor just isnt fun for me. I used to think about playing this game all day at work and then have a blast when I got home. It was fresh, new and back then the survivors played scared lol. There wasnt really looking going on. The good ol days. Then ds was released on console and it completely frustrated me. Still, kept playing. Pushed through all the second chance perks that survivors through at me. A little less fun was being had but the game was still awesome. Took the gg ez messages when they got a 4 man escape. Got comms banned from arguing with this games survivor community 3 times. Then its 2020.... bought every killer and survivor that exists. A few cosmetics that I like and both rift passes. And now, I cant play more than 1 game without getting bored. Theres literally nothing to do in this game now besides earn blood points and hope that I dont get gen rushed as hag. Idk man 3 years of the same game with only a few meaningful updates will get repetitive. Idk what they could do to bring me back at this point. New killers arent doing it anymore. They all feel watered down on purpose bc they dont want to recreate another nurse. I just want to feel like the actual power role again, not a survivor chew toy

It’s not fun playing survivor. I think the issues on survivor side with being able to enjoy the game is seeing a damn Mori in every single game. How come they are so common? How come they are even in the game? I don’t think killers need them. I’ve counted 6 games in a row today killers brought in an ebony Mori. Now that every version of the game is running DC penalty’s I think killers are just unloading ebonys. But why do they have so many? 😡 how are they ultra rare offerings? Why do I struggle to find keys in my bloodweb? Not only that but it’s not even guaranteed I get to use it like the killers ebony Mori’s picking people off one by one tunneling.

The community messed it all up for me forum-wise. Everyone enjoys being a-holes to each other which makes getting a decent and constructive discussion on here slim to none.
The game itself, eh. Idk. A lot of the changes kinda sucked the excitement out of it. I literally only play when there’s a new chapter for about 2 days then get on something else. I will admit that the Battle Pass kind of reeled me back in but other than that I’m barely on DBD. Still have massive love for the franchise and devs though 💜

I just came out of a hiatus from being burnt out, so yes I used to be. But I've been having loads of fun now as both sides. I honestly think the difficulty for Survivor is where I want it to be. Maybe some would disagree with me, but facing killers like Spirit and Freddy is always a joy to behold ^^

Massively. Can’t play survivor anymore as its always the same #########. Killer gets hook, sits around hook and wins. No effort required.
Blame it on the survivors if you want but either way its the same result.
Meanwhile if you’re the first one chased thats it. You’ll never get away from the hook. You’ll be tunneled the moment you’re unhooked in almost every single game.
Killers constanty running their most oppressive builds too and moris in like a third of all games vs team of random solos with no items. Why so tryhard?
It was just depressing. Having to sweat your ass off every game and never managing to escape as people just dived at the Deathslinger camping the hook. If by some miracle you did get the gens done then hears NOED to screw you over because apparently nobody else could do a single totem.
Maybe once the update hits killer might be worth a try but before that it was just survivors running to the same god loops over and over and over again every game then having a massive ego about how good they are because they could vault ironworks, run around and vault it again. So skilful..

Yep. Hook one guy, circle around maybe pretend you left until someone unhooks, Go back down the guy again, Mori. Next. Pssshh... why do people complain about keys if we don’t even get to use them as much as Mori’s? I feel so bad for the people that came in and ran the killer and fought hard to stay alive and then they don’t get another encounter with the killer other than a Mori animation. Nobody got to heal that guy. Nobody got to potentially unhook him again to get more points. That’s just not fun. Then they ban you for leaving when you can just hook suicide anyways.

Im literally in the same boat as you, been playing on xbox since day 1 and everything. Killer is my favorite role to play however i play both sides pretty evenly. These days when the rift isn't open I barely play since I get 4k's as killer in the majority of my games so matches feel boring and as survivor I mainly play solo which can be extremely frustrating.
Ever since the rift came out I have been in a cycle where I get burned out completing the rift and all it's challenges which makes me not play almost at all when they are done afterword, then once the next one comes out I will inevitably repeat it.

Confirmation bias beware.

Burnout is healthy and natural - doing the same thing for years on end will get boring, no matter how many changes are made outside of completely revamping it to a whole new game. Take it as a chance to step away and find something else, and if you try it again later after a break, it might be refreshed for a time.

Yep here. I think the rift pass gave the KO to me. Way to grindy and annoying to finish. Besides the fact that this game is still the SAME since years. Nothing new.

Just came back from a couple of months off. Have not played killer since about a month before that. Too much stress, then you have to deal with all of the toxic survivor BS. Not saying all survivors are toxic, by any means, but the ones that are more than make up for those that aren't. The horrendous matchmaking just makes it all worse.
I started as a survivor main, then started playing about 50/50. Lately i have only been playing survivor, again. Much less stressful. Eventually I would like to get back to 50/50. We'll see how it goes. Without some major effort to balance the game, this will likely just be a game i only come back to now and then.
The killer can't win, sitting around the hook. Most he should get from that is that single survivor...unless they suicide or DC. I know that it happens, but it sure isn't the norm. The only time it works is at yellow ranks, when survivors stop everything to try and rescue the person being camped. While that is, partly, on the survivors, it is still a slimy way to play. It's not typical killer behavior, though.

I'm not playing this game until this next update comes out. Then I'll see if this update is enough to keep me. I'm talking about the update in general because you know 100% that alongside the map reworks there will be at least 2 other game-breaking survivor bugs or killers on release of this patch, it's just which killer/s will be broken and what kind of bugs will break the survivors lmao. I'm not getting my hopes up for a potential Myers or Nurse fix either, but I don't mind, Doctor, Oni and Demo exist so I'm happy on that front.

Don't wait until the burnout. When i feel its coming i just stop playing it until i feel the will to come back.

You'll be surprised how resilient this game actually is considering how many times it underwent "This game will die soon" phases

Try playing Civilization for a while.

They don’t sit directly in front of the hook making it obvious, but they’ll “patrol” as they would say nearby so they’re never too far from the hook. The idea being that they can get back there a.s.a.p for the tunnel.
It wins them games most of the time. Survivors just want to play the games, they want points so they’ll feed killers like this. They’ll hear the terror radius hanging around but they’ll go for the unhook anyway for the points. With Deathslinger it was always the same, proxy camps hook, gets a ranged hit on survivor coming for rescue before they unhook, survivor unhooks, Deathslinger slugs them the moment they unhook and goes to quickly tunnel the unhooked survivor. Now you as solo have half of your team incapacitated.
Combined with NOED as safety this wins most games and yes it does happen in a lot of games. I’d say 90+ easily at least on the EU servers. Some killers are definitely worse than others for it though.
You need good survivors or swf to escape. Back in the day these tactics only worked in ranks 10-15 but these days the red ranks are so watered down theres virtually no difference between most red ranks and the old ranks 10-15. People play exactly the same.

I switch sides to avoid burnt out. Too much killer or too much survivor can be a hell for anyone. Also to combine this game with another one is an effective way to avoid it.

i'm thinking the same,i'm getting tired of dealing with god loops and getting gen rushed on maps too big for the current survivor objectives.

as usual after a rift, the grind for the last levels was just too much for me.
i'm not playing this game a lot atm (i still play from time to time ofc), so i can very much understand when someone feels like playing something else.
personally i started playing TF2 again and had tons of fun with it so far.
and when i get back to DbD afterwards, i am a lot more chill and have a lot more fun with the game.

why not make a weekly rotating mode that is goofy
like 2v8, perkless, and one where everyone is legion. so you can tell whose surv and whose killer. are just some ideas ive had for modes
dont rly have to focus on balancing these things after initial release most likely (just some tuning before release to make them somewhat playable) since theyre just goofy things to break up the same ######### for 4 yrs

I'm taking a break til next update. I got tired of the constant idiot teammates and the overly sweat lord billys using instasaw with infectious fright. I've been playing Doom Eternal lately.

As for why all the new killers feel watered down. It's because the devs are afraid to make a strong killer but it might be what we need right now. Survivor que times are 10-15 mins. When Deathslinger released it leveled out a bit but after the hype died it went back to normal. That's about the only time I play now. When something new comes out. That's the state of the game right now. New people coming in but just as many leaving. If the devs want me to come back to killer they need to make it fun again and not frustrating. Survivor could use something along the lines of another objective because holding M1 is boring. Last they need to stop catering to brand new survivors and actually balance the game.

It's a good strategy if the survivors feed into it, but very few killers actually do that because it doesn't work on more experienced survivors. You probably think that it is happening more often than it does, because you don't understand what is actually happening, and you call it camping. If a survivor is within the terror radius of the killer, then the killer is perfectly justified in patrolling around the hook. They have tools to detect survivors. If survivors don't show up on BBQ that means they are in the killers radius, so he is justified to look. If the killer hears whispers, or sees birds fly, or sees scratch marks, he knows someone is around trying to make the rescue and is going to patrol the area looking for them. Hell, some survivors lead the killer right to the hook, and then loop them around the hook area, preventing and type of rescue.
Also, survivors should not be relying on the killers terror radius to know if he is still there. If they are, then that is part of the problem. Probably too many survivors running meta perks, and not using any aura reading perks. So they wander into the area, which keeps the killer there. I run kindred on almost every build. If the killer is around the hook, the rest of the team knows exactly where they are, without moving. If he is camping, then good survivors will stay on their gens and pop 3 or more gens while he stays in that area. It's a terrible strategy for any killer unless they are going up against newbie survivors that just feed.
I'm not saying that there are no killers that camp, i know there are, but a lot of what survivors see as camping is not camping at all.

I am lately. I usually take a couple of days off to re-energize. Rotating killers helps a lot for variety. If I play survivor, I burn out back quickly, that's why I usually do only one match a day for the extra XP. It's probably because I go solo.

Consider only playing on the weekends. You might be surprised how much you look forward to playing after not playing for 4 days. Solo q or killer everyday is enough to drive anyone mad.

I haven't played since April 8 and my last time I was active on the forums was April 6. So yeah, I'm definitely burnt out by dbd right now. I've also tried to play a few other games during the time we're in right now, but even that's starting to get boring for me. Playing survivor gets stale and playing killer gets stressful after 1-3 games. I feel like something needs to be added to dbd to freshen it up, but at the same time, things need to be fixed. I've just been doing other things honestly.

This game just isn’t fun for either side. When I play killer it’s always body blocking flashlights in my face constantly with ridiculous survivor movement 180s 😂 its frustrating
As for survivor. The ebony Mori’s. It’s just not necessary. There’s gotta be another way to give survivors more playing time without impeding on the killers chance to win. So you’re telling me I queued up for a match to get thrown on a hook, pulled off and fast mobility killers or invisible wraiths just wait for the unhook and down and Mori without me being able to defend myself with DS or whatever? How is that fun? How is that even fair? I don’t see keys in my games as often as Mori’s. Are you sure they’re ultra rare?

I think green ones can be necessary and give you that slight advantage, but ebonys are just excessive. It’s an offering. I don’t think that anything that makes up a small portion of your load out should have that much of an impact on the game.
