DBD is dying on console

Dead by daylight on console has some of the longer que times of any game I've played on console as survivor.(coming from someone who went platinum in siege ranked with insanely long que times) After taking a break as killer I decided to really see what the survivor que time experience is and my god is it painful. On ps4 at rank 15 survivor it took me almost 20 minutes to find a match as survivor. The experience was even easier. 3 man swf against a clown. Match was over in 6-7 minutes. At rank 18 on xbox the que time was even longer. Theres a huge killer shortage on console and I'm seeing more and more killers each day on forums and communities quiting killer. Every match is a consistent sweat battle to get 2 kills. I own every killer besides slinger and demigorgon and if I even want a chance of getting a 2k killers are restricted to playing killers like spirit, freddy, oni and billy(nurse has a steep learning curve and is very difficult to play on console with the lack of high sensitivity and lower fps) At a certain point it just becomes unfun. Killers stress trying to pressure gens for most of the match while it's a breeze for a competent 4 man swf. It's even worse playing solo survivor. I love this game and I dont want to see it die. Something needs to be done. Some type of rework to a perk or a significantly weak killer like leatherface or clown. This game has some insanely fun killers that just get bullied too easily at lower ranks. The map rework will be a slight fix to a much bigger problem. New infinites are being found on the ptb the closer we get to the update. Something needs to be done to stop this game from its death on console.

I hear people talk about these absurb wait times but for whatever reason, I've never really experienced it (Xbox).

As killer, it is virtually instantaneous at this point. As a survivor, there has been an extended wait time compared to previous times but for me it's generally 1-5 minutes.

I don't know if it's a rank thing (I'm generally bouncing between purple and red) or location (middle of the US probably helps) but I've never ran into these double digit wait times so many talk about here.

I've had the same experience. Killer queue's are pretty much nonexistent and Survivor queue times last 3-8 minutes, 10 tops.

The upcoming patch actually addresses some of the problems killers are facing. It's hard to tell how much it will help till it goes live, but unlike the previous patch that stood absolutely no chance of solving the problems resulting from the Ruin nerf, this one might actually be able to do something. If it does enough, then more people might start playing killer again.

It will address some of the problem but not the whole issue. Sure the decrease to gen time will make it feel like the Killer is moving into a position of power but not by much. The only time this will feel like a buff to killer side is against solo survivors but as most of us know Swf's will be running the perks to counter this.

Rank 4/5 on Xbox and que time is about a minute. Barely have time to load a youtube video while waiting. Rank 12 killer que times are longer for me.

Rank 6 Survivor after not playing for a while and I have up searching after a 15 mom wait. Went over to killer and got an instant lobby.

I'm not a patient guy, if it takes 15 minutes to search for a Survivor match I'd rather not play at all. I hope the Devs do something about it.

    I agree with you.

While I hardly play much, all my killer queues are 0-2m and all my survivor queues (solo survivor) are 1-5m.

Its very rare I get a queue that last beyond the 5m mark.

The queue on the nintendo switch is fine, for survivor I usually wait 3-8min and killer 1-2min. It depends on when you play; I get better survivor queue in the evening. I also tend to switch to killer when it nears the 8 min mark to avoid the waiting.

I can and also can't relate. Rank 10 survivor and I've genuinely never waited longer than 5-6 minutes for a match. PS4 from 3pm-10pm PST. Killer lobbies are damn near instant.

Wasnt bragging about beating the clown. I was pointing out how easy it is to beat a non sweat killer. Obviously you didnt se the bigger picture🤦‍♂️

Yes a killer with no skill that isn't trying should probably lose. Why do you have a problem with that? Do you think killers should never lose, no matter how bad or lazy they are?

The gen time “fix” coming in the update will be nothing when every swf will meta prove thyself. Watch the gens actually go faster.

Backed. Rank 1 killer on PS4 here and I get a lobby as soon as I press triangle. It helps with being selective with your games (I dodge people that I know are toxic SWF, 4 toolboxes in the lobby, 4 blendettes etc.). Survivor queue takes a long time and then matchmaking is garbage anyways. I'm rank 5 survivor right now and I keep getting matched with like rank 18 killers that just get destroyed

Hate to say it, but queue times is not a dev problem. Your region has more survivor players than killers

    Green Ranked killer

    Yellow ranked survivor

rank 1 survivor and killer on xbox

solo survivor = pretty fast, id say 3mins most

duo survivor = probably 5mins or a bit more

    killer = pretty much instant

you have to remember less people play killer now, ruin allowed alot of casual killers to play but with it gone alot of the newer or less experienced players wasnt enjoying it, so many people play survivor and it also got made easier due to the ruin change which means most people hit ranks 1-5 easily which makes lobby ques much longer the further you stray from ranks 1-5

In all the Dbd groups and communities im in i see an outrageous amount of killers quit and increase the survive que over the past year.

I started as almost exhaustively since launch swf survivor until my time became limited and I couldn't use my only two hours a night on ps4 for the que.

I've clocked it dozens of times its 14-21minutes from the moment I ready up to the moment my character moves.

Since I was only playing 3 matches consuming all my time I started instant que killer matches instead... it was the worst experience in my gaming life...

I grinded Diablo 3 like a job. My eyes went bloodshot trying to get top tier rocket league. And I learned how much dedication asia has to defeating America during my years in starcraft battling old school ddos. I've never met a worse, more toxic community then the DBD survivors.

And it is only "survivor mains" not regular players that play both roles. I've never gotten more death threats or hate mail for normal gameplay behavior. For a long time I really thought that when I hooked a player as my nurse it sent a painful electric shock to there grandmas nips because there's no explanation for the deep personal hatred I've experienced.

Eventually the game play imbalances became too much and I quit the killer role a few months back. Its simply not possible when the game play itself is reliant on capitalizing on enemy team mistakes. I can absolutely outplay anyone in shooters just by practice and picking obverse to the meta.

But this game dbd requires humans to make mistakes to get kills and I haven't seen a gen explode from a missed skillcheck in over a year.

If you keep line of sight breaks and use the camera pan to see though walls the killer cannot possibly find you... the perks and loadouts i use have let me consistently take a half dozen hits in a row every match extending the chase to Scooby-Doo levels of insanity

Teamwork against a non mobility killer ? Forget it. 4E Gg 2EZ. If your willing to sacrifice a single player strategicly can without fail go on 40-100 escape streaks

If the game doesn't radically change to favor survival less and give killers a better shake this game will crash hard when the competition drops this upcoming year.

Queue times are definitely a problem for the Devs. You can't really blame the players wanting to overwhelmingly play Survivor over killer. In the face of it the actions of the Devs led to this issue for not addressing the fundamental issues around playing killer.

It is fixable but any progress they seem to make feels way too late to give players a piece of mind and sense of joy when things are working fine. There's always frustrating issues like this cropping up relatively often.

Xbox EST United States, afternoons & evenings. Wait for killin (rank 14 piggy or Myers mainly) very low 2-3min max. For survining (rank 5) for solo 3-5min; for two mans about 7-10min; for three mans 5-7min, and for four mans 10+ min. All worsen past 10pm.

I find matches as Survivor somewhat quickly. Usually about 5 minutes on average but never more than 10.
