Why dont killers have a random chance to get a free mori?
This isn't bait or rhetorical, why don't killers have something that compares to keys out of chests? Game after game I keep seeing and then bam, 3-2 people get a free escape because luck.
Why is there no killer counterpart to this?

Killers obviously cannot get a free Mori. I get that it would be really nice to get something for killer that compares to chests but for example, flashlights need skill to learn how to use. If you get a Mori for free. You only have to hook the survivor once and once they get unhooked you down them again, and hold M1 for a second. Then boom. They are dead. That is depending on what Mori it is though.

Keys are the same idea, get 2-3 gens done? Immediately escape for rng.

Jesus Christ, another key post.
Either tunnel the survivor with the key, or bring Franklin's if you're so Phobic about it, my GOD!
8 -
It actually might not be a bad idea to give them a built in ivory mori against 4 man swf teams which would be something of a random chance.

As much as this community loves simplification, keys and moris aren't "the same thing", and this kind of suggestion only makes any sense if you keep pretending that they are.
8 -
Because you have a higher chance of getting ebony moris in your bloodweb than survivors have a good chance of getting purple items. The Items take up space in their bloodweb which otherwise could be allocated to getting more perks for them and etc.
Not only this, but items are on a limited meter, moris aren't. you don't just run out of a mori half way through and suddenly the survivor survives. lol
1 -
The hatch doesn't spawn until at least 3 gens are done. If 3 survivors are alive, it doesn't spawn until 4. And if all 4 survivors are alive, it doesn't spawn until all gens are done. So definitely not, get 2-3 gens done.

People keep pulling them from chest, my point is I cant even see it in the pre game lobby.
8 -
They aren't the same, their just the closest thing to eachother for killers and survivors.
1 -
You understand 1, you can see a mori before the game starts and at least know it's there. Unlike chest keys.
2, you can have your item at even a sliver of percentage left and it's still usable so unless your unable to see the bar and know to save it, your fine.
0 -
Okay and? As killer, you're gonna be running around the map and should probably scout out where hatch is if it's coming close to a hatch game. Hatch only becomes usable after 80% of the match is done, whereas Moris can be available very early in game.
0 -
Depends on what you see as early game, I just had somone pull a key out of a chest and then key out of 5 gens technically. I closed hatch and then he "outskilled" me.
Yeah moris can be used early if the team or individual survivor is dumb and let's you end 2 chases with them very fast.
0 -
It be like that sometimes. Had that happen too before, but it's just another day, another game.
I don't run into many players running keys anyway or using them, so for the biggest part, i don't actually mind if they escape through hatch, but thats just me.
Free moris should definitely not be a thing. I've experienced and saw my friends get tunneled from the beginning until they become 'kill-able' and get moried within the first few minutes.

Keep in mind, I made that post after I kid you not, 7 games In a row of either brought in keys or chest keys.
I honestly think killers should have cypress built in for dailies, delete dull and skeleton keys. Mabye make broken keys have 30 seconds of use so you could still use aura reading.
Edit:ivorys and ebonys would go to.
Just my opinion

Because keys, while very powerful, do not change the game dynamic in the way Mori's do. A Mori basically turns the game from 5 gens vs 12 hooks into 5 gens vs 4 hooks.
5v12 = Survivors have 41% of the objective that killers do
3v12 = Survivors have 25% of the objective that killers do. BUT only if the killer has completed 50% of his objective already.
4v12 = Survivors have 33% of the objective that killers do. BUT only if the killer has completed 25% of his objective already
5v4 = Survivors have 125% of the objective that killers do. Even if the survivors haven't completed any of their objectives.
1 -
A moris power depends on the survivors skill, 2 chases can be 5 gens in some cases. Its all about context.
3 -
Just had a game where another survivor unhooked me in front of the killer without bt. Killer hit me before i could move or the chase even started. That was really dumb of me, you are right. But i am willing to learn, what would you have done in my place?

Not been solo queuing

If you want a mori bring devour hope or rancor.
0 -
Both skip core mechanics of the game and are negative to the overall heath of a match.
I care not for the "apples to oranges" comparison but they should both be reworked or removed.

Keys are not as bad as moris
You need to do n+1 for hatch to spawn, a moris you can use right off hook
please stop with this tired line
n being survivors alive

Keys are an item
Mori’s are an offering
not to mention this would bust the game even more when a player who’s been doing good all game goes down and instantly loses You just asking for kills to be fed to you at this rate Keys require you to actually find the hatch. Mori’s are just 1st hook tunnel kill for most killers

Its extremely rare to get key from chests, stop whining. Im rank 58 dev 10, on all chests ive been throught i got at least less than 10
1 -
Thats true most of the time, but try plunderers instinct. I got a key about every 2-3 games when using this perk.

No. Let's not pretend that this is the case. Killer's are supposed to catch survivors. We know what happens when someone had a mori. Person gets unhooked and tunneled by the killer and mori'd out of the game. A mori doesn't depend on a survivors skill at all. I don't see the point of crying over a mori. But I also don't see why you would randomly put it into a game.

I'm impressed that no one has pointed out that if you find someone looking for an item in a chest it's almost a free hook for the killer because the closing chest animation. It's uncommon to patrol a chest tho.

Someone else would just pick up the key. #BigBrain

I never get why people say its down from 12 hooks to 4. While yes moris are bs, it still requires you to get 8 downs.
Also a better equivalent would be getting a random 3% chance to 1 shot m1, which would be the killer version of kobe's, both rewarding luck instead of skill (even tho the killer still needs to also get the hit on the survivor). Tho stuff is fine the way it is now imo.

Why are people so keen on keeping keys as they are? Why would somebody need this stuff besides for an undeserved escape?
I'm a survivor main, and I'm not in denial about how broken this stuff is.

We should just have killer rolled a dice in the offering burnt sequence.

Well, keys and the hatch are needed if you play a lot of solo survivor.
Because every 3 or so matches, the random survivor found first just suicides or dc´s, with no gen done. And suddenly the game is very killersided.
If the game is over, it should just end there. But it doesnt. So, you can still play normaly and hope for a key, if the other survivors are potatoes like the first one. It can still get exciting for you, instead of just running up to the killer to suicide on the hook too and hope for a decent match next game.
Latly, i play plunderers instinct, because you get a key every 2-3 games. And while i play the game normaly then anyway (so i got a big stash of keys at the moment), if you found a game in one of those scenarios, it keeps you playing.
When i play killer, i dont care about the hatch anyway. to me, 0-1 kill is a loss, 2 kills are ok, 3+ kills are a win. you cant control the hatch, if one gets away, so be it. Even if two or 3 escape via the hatch, the game is at least over fast.
But i had one game, i killed one survivor, and 3 were standing around the hatch when i came...
one opend, the second jumped, and the 3rd stood there stunned when i closed the hatch in front of him...
also funny the last survivor standing on the hatch waiting for the killer (to teabagg, i assume) , while i sneak up from behind and he obviously didnt know wraith can close the hatch while cloaked ^^.
I like the idea for a "critical hit" on a killer, but it might be too unbalanced, i can´t say.

Me too these forum posts about moris:
Jesus Christ, another Mori post.
Either dont get hooked by the killer with the mori, or genrush if you're so Phobic about it, my GOD!

"killer tunneled me, ######### sucks"
0 -
That doesn't help if they find it in a chest. Personally I think keys would be fine if they were bloodweb-only. Finding a key in a chest is just too big of a game-changer to have up to RNG.

Kind of a Russian Roulette thing for survivors?
It would need some rules and balance doodads, but it might be a fun mechanic if it were implemented the right way.
0 -
I like to play rancor roulette.
I usually pair rancor with furtive chase.
If we ever got a random chance to mori, it would probably have to be small, like 4%.
I wouldn't mind if it worked like modified version of rancor.
Once all gens are done, there is a 4% chance that one lucky player's aura is revealed. If you down that player, you get the mori.
This should probably not work if the killer is using a mori offering.
0 -
Then tunnel the person.
0 -
Most killers get gen rushed anyways.
0 -
It would be cool that there be a shrine the killer can channel to receive a minor temporary boost or a mori, but first moris and keys should be on the same level of influence on the outcome of the game. I can't tell you how many times the killer got 2 kills or more even though we all brought keys. I would estimate around 20% of the time, and I've probably done this a little over a couple dozen times.
0 -
If three people get a "free" escape, they did 4 gens. They did 80% of the work necessary to open a door. If a killer gets a free mori, he just has to find one survivor, one time, because we all know he's just going to proxy the hook and tunnel...which is only 30% of his work. LOL Also, keys are a 4% drop chance without a perk...14% with, which means they are pretty damn rare and if someone gets one with a perk, they risked an entire perk slot to get it. If the killer had to "pray to the entity" at several randomly spawned locations around the map for a period of time in order to get a 4% chance at a mori, I might agree, because he'd be wasting his own time to do so...just like survivors waste time finding and digging through chests. But just giving random killers a luck-of-the-draw mori? Nah fam.

Free mori thread (Jesus Christ), people disagree about it. Killers: Let's bring "free keys" into the mix to balance the discussion.

Tunnel survivor is not a good plan becuz:
1-Hate words post chat. (okay who mind it indeed but for those who do...)
2-Usually keys are used on SWF so if someone with keys die the key is still there so you have to tunnel another survivor.
3- Thats not fun for either side I would say 🤷🏻♂️

3 is less than 10...

Its RNG, bruh.

Yet plunderer instinct give you a ton of keys, montos vids already showed that.
Heck even when using plunderer's I got a ton of keys.
0 -
I agree they're not one in a thousand or even a hundred but they're definitely not close to guaranteed or even 50/50. It's probably just a tad higher than chance to kobe basekit(6-8% per chest??).
0 -
And I can show you 2 pictures from my 100's of matches where I get brown toolboxes from boxes with Plunderer's and Ace in the Hole.
0 -
Because moris and keys are not equal.
0 -
No a moris powere does not depend on a surrvivors skill for two reasons.tunneling and camping, you say "oh well you need to end two chases with that surrvivior" but no almost all killers with ebony will tunell straight off the hook. How is that dependent on surrvivors skill ? Yes keys are annoying but moris are way worse.
0 -
Keys shouldnt be in chests. Otherwise they are fine. Yellow mori should be base kit.
Had a game against a red rank team. In green killer. Got outplayed quickly. Saw 3 people so i ran to them. 1 opened hatch and left. I closed the hatch and went after another person. While doing that the 3rd opened hatch and both got away. 4th went through gate.
Looked at post game load out and no one brought a key or plunderers or extra chests.
Wasnt too mad cause i would have lost regardless but still. 2 keys 1 game with no luck offerings or perks
