What if Huntress is protecting survivors from herself?

So Huntress is singing all the time a song (Bayu Bayushki Bayu) that warns about the danger of a predator that would drag innocents to a dark place. In the original lullaby is a wolf that drags kids into the forest, but the similarities are obvious. Wolf is the entity, kids are the survivors and the forest is the void where some got thrown by the entity.

Is she warning survivors about the entity plans? Is she on survivors side without no one knowing?

Is she letting the entity "control" her to keep warning newcomers?

Huntress is hunting to defend herself. If survivor is hooked, survivor die, no danger.

As the others have said, Huntress is someone used to killing things that fight back. Like, really, REALLY dangerous things that fight back.

She most likely hums the lullaby because these trials are less a focused hunt and more of an idle jog with the occasional violence.

That said, it is worth noting that Beast of Prey's description indicates she can literally force the Entity to stop looking through her eyes (hence the Red Stain removal in old versions and now Undetectable status in new versions) and the Entity doesn't seem to take much issue with it.

Theoretically it might be possible that she, or other similarly strong willed Killers, would low-key try to help Survivors without the Entity's knowledge, but that doesn't seem very likely to me that Huntress specifically would do that.

This is the person that would go on murder rampages and slaughter entire towns, presumably just for sport or because she could. She's killed so many people that people thought she was some kind of inhuman monster. That doesn't indicate the kind of empathy one would expect from someone risking their personal safety to give the other side an advantage.

Still, as far as lore, Huntress is old enough that her lore doesn't set in stone much about her thought processes.

It could be possible she's rebelling against the Entity in a very subtle way? So she doesn't end up like Trapper, but also so that she's not just some mindless toy for the Spider God? Not helping Survivors to help the Survivors, but as a way to silently give the finger to the Entity and quietly keep up her self-esteem? It is worth noting that Benedict's character quote for her suggests she's more human and that she has more of a purpose or goal than the other Killers.

    TL;DR

I personally don't think Huntress is trying to help the Survivors, but there's as much canon material to support the theory as there is to discount it.

    That's a smart idea.

Well I mean... If she just said to out loud the entity controlls her so wouldn't they torture her until she doesn't do it anymore. She can't make it obvious.

Gonna throw my hat into the ring to answer this by saying I always thought the humming was intended to be a kind of cruel or horrific irony, she hums this really calm soothing tune which stands in extremely stark contrast to the brutal violence and killings she is committing. In a pretty savage way at that, by using a fairly hefty and heavy Broad Axe to chop down survivors slamming it into their skulls, and lighter hunting hatchets which she can throw from any distance straight into the backs and legs of survivors to disable them. She continues humming, constantly, as if sardonically trying to quell their fear and nonverbally saying "shhh... let it happen" while taking their very lives.

It's honestly a creepy thought, and I'm fairly certain this was the intention.

Honestly I could see the Huntress trying to adopt Min or Dwight in the right circumstances, or maybe Quentin assuming he looks like how he looked in the movies and not his in-game character model. Benedict Baker makes it clear that she's still looking for children to adopt while in the entity's realm. Maybe that's the real reason the Entity doesn't introduce children as survivors.

Good idea but I doubt it. The lullaby was her favorite song, and the last song that she heard from her mother. I really doubt that she is also smart enough to protect herself since she was left alone on the forest having to rely on her skills and instincts. Her job was rather simple, kill for sport and food, nothing more or less.

But I liked the idea :)

I agree with that. Plus, she is so tall that may see survivors as kids.

I just had an idea for a perk.

    Mama Bear

You protect your children from anything or anyone that could hurt them. During the trial, you become obsessed with one survivor. Whenever your obsession performs cooperative actions with another survivor, the survivor they were performing cooperative actions with is exposed for 20/25/30 seconds. Only one survivor can be exposed from Mama Bear at a time. If you down the survivor who was exposed, Mama Bear's cooldown resets. Once your obsession dies, you become incredibly distraught by their demise and gain a 5% haste status effect for 40/45/50 seconds. Mama Bear does not reactivate in the instance that a new obsession is created.

I doubt she would know what the entity thinks or plans of. It only hungers for hope. Even if she was, the entity is perceptive in the sense of bending killers’ wills and bending them HARD. She has no reason to nor has ever attempted it, given that the first and only time she has been hurt in the Fog was by Vigo for experimenting with the serum. Other than that, she shows no visible signs of being hurt other than what happened while she was still “mortal” in a sense.

The entity is weird imo. Like do the survivors ever age?

Survivors/Killers don't really age, or perhaps it's best to say time "outside" is pretty much irrelevant.

We have Killers from a huge range of time periods (and Survivors from a smaller range, but still a range of several different decades) and while it could be explained via "Well, they come from alternate dimensions where human civilisation is less advanced", I don't think quite all of them are from alternate universes. Given how The Observer describes universes with terms like "Terra Primus" and "Terra Dark" as opposed to "Universe 11,000" (and the fact that he checks out a memory and says "that one's probably from Terra Dark") that indicates to me the DbD multiverse is relatively limited in its quantity of worlds.

There is one addendum to this, though. Trapper's Serum cosmetic is notably younger-looking than his current form without the iconic leathery skin, indicating IMO that there is some level of change Killers/Survivors go through inbetween Trials as they get "older". However, there's some level of preservation going on so The Entity can get the most out of everyone it abducts.

The reason why she hums that lullaby is because it was the lullaby her mother sang to her
