my eyes are bleeding since the new patch i cant handle this AA really.

i really do not understand why BHVR is so obsessed with the force AA.

there is not a single Multiplayer game i know where AA is forced even all the competetive games have the option to disable it. one of the Dev-Team members i think " Peanuts" sorry if i wrote the name wrong said to avoid advantages or something? but how? what advantages do you get with disabling the AA? people like me who doesnt have N.A.S.A PC cant play on Ultra + AA, every game i play i turn this feature off! because i just dont like this blurry screen it makes me sick! for the love of the entity please BHVR PLEASE make it possible to turn it off!

    Define "way better".

Not all games need to run in 4K at 144 FPS. That is a want, not a need. And going beyond the standard can be an exploit in its own right as well. Higher FPS gives its own advantages. Sometimes it is in response time, other times it those frame rates effect how the game plays. I know of games that allows players to scale cliffs and walls otherwise impossible if they happen to have a high enough frame rate. Or Being able to set their rendering to show more than what the game was intended to show.

Going too far below the standard can be an exploit. Going too far above the standard can also be an exploit. Standards are standards because that is the settings the game was built to be played at. This is a PvP game. Meaning you should play within the standards. Allowing players to go outside of those standards either above or below opens up too many problems and possible abuse.

If this was a single player game. I wouldn't give a damn. Play how you want by any means you want. But DbD isn't single player.

They changed the way hair was rendered and it looked like ass with no AA. Since there was no AA on Low settings, everyone on Low settings complained about the terrible new hair. So they added AA to all graphics settings, forcing people to edit Engine.ini to disable it. Now they blocked editing of Engine.ini because it could also be used to edit other settings that allow the player to gain an advantage.

The solution here is simple. Remove AA from Low settings, like it used to be. Their hands aren't tied, this is a conscious decision that could be undone very easily.

I went to sleep with a headache last night due to the eye strain inflicted by the game. No amount of sharpening filters/Reshade etc can undo the smudgey mess that this awful AA causes.

You do realize that most of the things you've said mean absolutely nothing with what I've said, right? Also the devs allowed the bad use of the .Ini for not adding options in -3 goddamn years- mind you.

You've made a post too long for little meaning, and you're trying to prove what? My main point is pretty much the reality, go check anywhere else where people got +15 fps for disabling these unnecessary settings which you seem to be fine with, well, not all of us like them and we've got motion sickness/headaches thanks to this game's poor job when it comes to graphics + horrible optimization.

And I doubt very much you can try and excuse that.

one interesting thing, you see how the person in the vid alt tabs at 1:46? He does it so he doesn't get dedi hit. When the vaults weren't fixed, before the mid chapter came, you could alt tab to keep momentum and not get dedi hit.

I wish I understood what the issue was but I can't. I run my stuff at maximum settings on PC and my rig can handle anything that is currently out right now. (Except maybe Crysis but let's be honest, it's Crysis). What's does AA do exactly, what's the problem with it, and why are most people complaining about it? The graphics seem a lot sharper than usual since the patch and I enjoy it.

They make the game extremely blurry and ugly, and pretty much is a reason for a lot of motion sickness.

Game looks great in my opinion, and haven't noticed any blurring when I play except for maybe Nurse when she teleports. I guess I'll have to play a game and really focus on it, but I don't notice this blurriness that people are talking about,

What advantage you get?? Your eyes won't hurt, that's the advantage!!

Oh and guess why there is no deaf support or advanced audio settings. Yes exactly, they want that your ears hurt from the ultra loud chase music and screams after you turned up the volume high enough to hear footsteps and other quite sounds.

Bhvr is consumer unfriendly, they don't give a F.

Noone would edit ini files when we had ingame settings in the first place. But we dont, that's the big issue since years.

I can Easily agree that Vsync disabled made my experience Tons better.

Especially with skill checks; that red needle skipped like it was grinding sandpaper with Vsync on.

But when I turned it Off in the .ini files, that needle was Buttery smooth and upping my Frame Rate Cap after that made the game... So much more easy to look at.

    Fairness over personal preference.

Welcome to gaming. Where everyone should play by the same rules and standards in order to keep the gameplay fair. Your personal preference, needs, and wants shouldn't be held any higher than anyone else's. Everyone suffers from motion sickness, headaches, or worse. Everyone. Even me.

One eye out of focus, one eye colorblind, and prone to motion sickness so bad that I can't ride in a car for longer than 30 minutes before feeling ill. But oddly, and luckily, enough I can drive without any problems at all. In gaming? Headaches a plenty if I don't take care to take the time to adjust to the game being played. But that's me and my needs. You don't see me asking for special attention.

The players don't decide what the standards are. Devs do per on a game by game biases. If the devs want a game to run in a certain way under certain settings, then that's how everyone needs to play the game to keep it fair for all. Don't like it? Play something else.

Like can you post a screenshot? Not one of you guys post decent screenshot, because I think the problem is with low setting + AA because my game doesn't look blurry.

im fine when the ini files are locked. and im not abusing anything like in this video. yes you're right that shouldnt be a thing but turning AA will not turn my game into a Wallhack right? well you said i need a better PC, here my specs : GTX970 4GB, i5 4690K 4 cores with 3,50 ghz, 16GB ram

yes my PC is now very old BUT i can play games like Rainbow six siege, Tomb raider, or other AAA titles without any issues on Mid-Ultra depending on the game. but when i play DBD on Ultra my PC is pretty much dying. also you tell me to get a 3000bucks PC just to play DbD? well maybe i will upgrade my PC one day, when i feel i cant run any AAA games anymore! and how dumb is that to say "if you cant run a game you shouldnt play it"? excuse me?

Did you disable VSYNC? also you can still do that in gameusersettings and i recommend putting game effect to 1, it will give y ou around 20 extra FPS and you should be able to get at least 60-70 if you are running 1080p.

    Source i have a 980 and i get 80+

Funny thing I see in that screen is that there is still some aliasing on the last 2 character 😅

They removed the graphics settings affecting whether or not AA is enabled a long time ago, which is why a lot more people people resorted to changing the .ini files.

For retrospect about high-end PCs struggling on this game, I have an RTX 2060, 16GB of RAM, a Ryzen 5 3700x, and 1 TB SSD. I've lost a huge chunk of FPS in this update, and on cluttered maps like Lery's I get less than 60 fps. It's an issue.

  • UseTheValve
    UseTheValve Member Posts: 350

What settings are you playing the game + resolution? Game effect if you out it on 1 will give you around 20 FPS the rest can be at 3. If your monitor is 4K maybe that's why you getting low FPS because I get 80+ on ultra at 1080p

  • RockoRango
    RockoRango Member Posts: 554

I play at 1080p as I think anything more is overkill (I'm not rich).

  • UseTheValve
    UseTheValve Member Posts: 350

Then with a 2060 you should average more fps that's what I'm getting at even with AA, tweak each setting individually in the gameusersettings, I had crap fps before I tweaked it and now everything is on ultra but game effects and VSYNC is off and I get really smooth fps otherwise it might be worth reinstalling, I'm really shocked that your 2060 achieve less than my 980 :(

It's because of the poor optimization of the game at the moment, as my parts are fairly new and are cooled to a chilly 30-60c. I've been playing since 2016, and I've always disabled VSYNC and AA to get a good experience (and I still do, I play at 141 with GSYNC on). However, I'm getting WAY under that on some maps now as well as my fps being unstable half the time.

Mind sharing what settings that is and the resolution %?

The only way I can mimic my game looking like that is by going into low and lowering the resolution % to sub 40. In those settings my game seems to match how those Survivors look. But for some reason I can seem to match your HUD. That pick the HUD and menus look rather blurry, mine even in low settings and resolution set to 0% keep very crisp and clean. Image compression maybe?

Anyway. If that is what you are running under, then that explains why the game looks like #########. Running at the lowest possible settings tends to make a game look the worst it possibly can.

people accepting these options settings means they never watched TB's ######### is series

For a game currently pulling 50k+ players, its really sad how barren the options menu is

Adding toggleable anti aliasing setting in game shouldn't be that hard, considering you could do it with a code on the last patch. But devs are acting weird as usual.
