Survivors uninstalling?

It seems like there's significantly less survivors playing after the last couple of item/survivor/gen speed nerfs.

It takes so long for survivors to join the game now. Killers show up instantly.

I had around 25 friends that actively used to play DBD and now I never see any of them play it at all.. Instead they are seen playing other games.

I even see DBD youtubers stop uploading or switching to different content and playing different games now.

It's kind of disheartening that this game seems to be dying since I've first picked it up around 10 months ago.

I too have lost motivation to play. I probably play one match a day cause it makes me tired, bored, drained, frustrated..

Am I the only one who feels this way or anyone else on the forums feel like DBD is going downhill recently with these updates?

    First post

    Name is "Unbanned"

Complaining about nerfs to survivors that's supposedly making them all quit

    Yeah, this checks out.

Survivor queue times are long due to lack of killers . Get a 4 stack and let us know how long your queue is.

I face the same survivors over and over. This could mean survivors are losing interest but it could also be a matchmaking problem.

Don't know about all that. I'm sure there's plenty of survivors playing. But it might be down from last week because people come back to try the new patch and then they did the tome and wait for the next one to come out. People come and go. DBD is 4 years old. It's not like normal players have only played DBD for the last 4 years.

I haven't played in a few days. But that's just because it's getting a little bit boring. I hate playing killer now. And as a survivor you win every game. So it gets a little stale lol.

    Same here.

It's definitely strange, but I'm inclined to believe that it's strange matchmaking rather than a lack of players.

Supposedly the game still has tens of thousands of players online at any given time. Quite literally an order of magnitude more than some other games I play, games where I almost never see the same opponent(s) twice in a night.

Yes I did and you said

"It seems like there's significantly less survivors playing after the last couple of item/survivor/gen speed nerfs"

And don't let me forget this one too

Ngl I left the game for RER, but I came back to complete Archives because i'm a completionist like that.

HOWEVER! This game is dying like Deathgarden did, and BHVR is doing their best to keep it going. They've "done a pretty good job so far" at creating a cult following, and keeping players with cosmetics and the archive system, but the consistent nerfs to Killers made all their Killers leave, so they had to rush out (or didn't rush, regardless it was too late) the map changes update to try and keep the Killer's they had left and in the future.

Anyways before getting into a tangent of killers leaving, the killers left tried to adapt and had to abuse cheesier tactics to even have a chance in the game, and this made the game terrible for survivors to play as well. So even the twitch streamers and youtubers that BHVR puts all the weight on to carry their game started to leave as well.

Honestly it's a big mess, that could of been avoided had the dev's listened to their community in the first place, but again they've "done a good job so far"

I'd say that I'm both. I was more of a killer main when the game came out. 2016-2018. Then from 2018-2020 more of a survivor player. But for a long period I just climbed up to rank 1 in both. Now I just can't play killer at all. It's not my play style. I feel like in order to actually get kills you have to tunnel and camp a bit. Which I refuse to do. So I just play survivor instead. I find being chased pretty fun. But the rest of the game pretty boring. I'm only good at survivor because of watching how the survivors looped me for years. It's beneficial to play both for sure.

I know a lot of survivors dislike the new patch, and some of the previous patch changes. Personally I don't see the big deal. I can loop just as obnoxiously as always. To say none of them left because of the recent patches, would be wrong though.

TBH the wait times have always been less than stellar. I have yet to run into the same survivors multiple times a day, maybe that's just a region thing? Who knows really.

I would also think about this point. There might be many people, including myself who are playing less than they used to. The game is almost 4 years old now. I play on the occasion, sometimes with a friend or 2. Other than that, I can't bring myself to play round after round of killer, solo survivor, or even a 2-4 stack of SWF. And now with all this extra time indoors, I am sure people are looking for other things to do currently.

Death Slinger brought me back for about a week, but then you realize he is just another mid or top mid tier killer. But nothing super game breaking. Nor was it enticing enough to hold the interest of many people it seems. Kind of fun to play and play against, but then we get to server ping and hit boxes, etc... At least he did better than Clown though, the poor bastard.

That is my current view on the game. It's just tiresome after a while. Stale and practically the same thing over and over, just a different scenic background for when you get stomped or stomp.

Here's to hoping the hidden MMR system shakes things up.

Happens every major mid chapter patch. If one side looks unjustified for the nerf people rage and leave.

For quite awhile a lot of Killers/Perks got reworked or nerfed. When Ruin was changed the game became heavily unbalanced prompting a lot of Killers to leave or switch sides.

They did some buffs for killers which included some survivor nerfs for medkits/toolboxes/coop gen times. This has probably prompted some survivors to return to killer or find other games.

While the game is slowly becoming more balanced once again. The issue is whenever one side is buffed or nerfed either justified or not the other side reacts extremely unfavorably towards it.

An example is Nurse, Legion, and Ruin while needing a change instead all got gutted and are mediocre anymore. For a time both sides actually had outcries against it (more Ruin than Nurse or Legion).

People will always say Nurse is good, but how many Streamers or People actually play her anymore for more than a match or two? Even former Nurse mains quit or play someone else. "Being able to blink through survivor defenses" is not a appropriate response to people actively trying to get her fixed due to how unfun and stressful she is anymore. Why play Nurse when you can play someone else who's less stressful and more fun.

The thing is no matter what happens someone will always argue against or for a change that's honestly illogical or stupid. A lot of people seem to forget that on the other side on the screen is another person and everyone wants to play.
