how useful is a red key

Keys are only really used for the Hatch escape. Few times they are useful for the aura reading. Because of that, Skeleton Keys (red) and Dull Keys (purple) are the same with such mentality. The only one actually different is the Broken Key, which is pretty much useless.1

Red/Green key are good for the game map. Bring a red key with extra charges and being able to see the killer and it's a good one to see if the killer is on you level or not and has the bonus of giving you a chance to open hatch on that map as it's a tough map to get out the door. Just make sure you don't use up all the charges by accident. Save your don't lose key on death and don't lose key on use add ons for the purple keys as that is their only good use.

Keys are AWESOME! Especially for hatch escapes ALWAYS get a key (skeleton or dull NEVER broken) if you don’t want a key or you have one and are in my lobby let me know because I got you covered fam

They should remove the broken key. That thing is absolutely worthless. Whenever i get one out of a chest i am just like "well shitttt"

If you escape with it then you can use addons on it.
In my opinion it's more useful than a purple key since it lasts longer if you use it for aura reading and also , lets be serious - what are the chances that you'll find the hatch before you die or lose the key to franklin's?0 -
People keep calling the broken key useless. There wrong. Put survivor aura addons on it along with longer time and its a free bond for a few secs. Skeleton key is actually best for aura reading, with dull being best for hatch escapes due to the least amount of charges. Skeleton key with the blood amber and extra charges (and potentially streetwise) is a free one way obj of obsession, letting you see the killer for a limited time without them seeing you. Super super useful for stealth/awareness builds0

I think keys are a bit OP as killer. As surv I only use them to open the hatch. Blood Amber is a ######### add-on, it drains the key so much and you really don't need it if you know how to track the killer yourself. Same goes for the surv aura add-ons, it's worthless if you know how to track survivors. Just run Empathy it's 1000x better if you really need to see others and gets you free Benevolence points (plus it let's you track killer by seeing who they are chasing). Broken key is the only one worth using with these add-ons because it can't open the hatch and is worthless otherwise. The only add-ons you should use on purple/pink keys are Milky Glass and Weaved Ring.
