Why bad Killers hit Red Ranks

No one is going to rank solely based on NOED. If they suck that badly, they aren't going to rank up as killer. Even if you play well it can be tough to rank up as killer. Maybe they were just having a bad game, or trying out a new killer, or using a killer they suck at for a challenge.
Frankly, it is far easier for bad survivors to hit red ranks, than it is for killers.

cant forget that a majority of the survivor playerbase plays pretty bad

Lol. I know. When I see a killer being really lousy...I know!! I know the NOED is waiting...and I always deny them it.
*teeheehee*

You know how it goes man, only survivors are allowed to actually enjoy their game.

I agree. I went from rank 13 killer to rank 8 for just camping (not facecamping) and using NOED. It's ridiculous, lol.

Getting to red ranks as survivor is just a matter of playtime. Not rank 1 mind you. It can be tricky to pip once you hit red. But still. If you play a lot and don't go out of your way to not pip, you'll get there.
And now with rank reset, all thoses average to medicore survivors floating around rank 4 get sent back to 5. So they go back to being red rank allmost immediatly.
This has been going on for a few months now. I bet there is a huge slice of players hanging at that rank 4 bottleneck. And its affecting killers because red ranks does not mean much so, mediocre killers can also float around the same ranks full of not so great survivors.
There is a reason why the devs want to move away from this very narrow rank based matchmaking.

Hahahah. Hillarious considering killers have fewer pip markers to hit.
The warped mind of killer players lol

Agree. I got called a camper because i downed 3 survivors at the start. Hell, i even let them go for the save. Instead all i got is camper.
1 -
How do you get hit by noed if you are not the one being chased? All you need to do is open the door and leave.
1 -
Also because there are a lot of bad survivors that give killers an inflated ego. If you get boosted babies a lot, yea it's pretty easy to get to rank 1. These are the same killers that dodge lobbies with Blendettes or flashlights or whatever else.

Noed is not the reason for that.
So,
WHY BAD SURVIVORS HIT RED RANKS
Of course with second chance perks and fast repair speed.(bc of ruin)
Do you agree with this?
Answer: I don't think so. Why would I agree with that?
1 -
Do you play killer?
To rank up as killer isn't about 4k, many survivors feel upset about not escaping but the killer must do many tasks to pip and reach red ranks.
NoED might do nothing or 4k but it hardly gives you enough to rank up
0 -
If the killer is bad, why is it a problem in the first place?
0 -
Trash perk, if you wanna find totems Detective's Hunch is better.
0 -
Bah all you people here's camping...
Aka thanks traps for providing the example=)

The moment you realize the killer is bad, you should be cleansing totems. I can always tell when a killer is using NOED by how they play.
The real answer to why there bad killers at red ranks is the same answer to why there are bad survivors at red ranks. It's due to the current rank reset system. With the old rank reset system you use to always get bad players in red ranks towards the end of the season, now those players that don't belong in red ranks just stay there.
EDIT: Also when I play killer I always notice bad survivors at red ranks always seem to have DS.

Meh, I prefer Small Game so then we have 2-3 people on gens and myself doing totems.
0 -
It's not because of Noed but 99% of all survivors playing like bots.
0 -
If the killer is genuinely bad and relies on the classic NOED facecamp to secure their 1 petty kill... Well, I feel like it's pretty obvious as to why that's bad.
In the other hand, if the killer is good and uses NOED for the whole cherry-on-top to secure those last few hooks, that's a completely different story.
0 -
2 minutes is enough to search for NoED, trust me. Also for 2 minutes you have higher speed buff than killer from NoED (personally i find this speed buff more important on most of the killers)
0 -
Do you play on Xbox? Had a game yesterday on rotten fields with a deathslinger who had NOED
0 -
Well, the last few month it was more common that you cannot assume anything regarding ranks
0 -
Lmao clearly im a killer main because my general opinion is different than yours. I'm definitely delusional mind telling me what else I should focus on?
Jokes aside You can pip up with minimal effort at red ranks for survivor earning easy double pips. Yet at red rank killer you more often that not need to slug for the 4k to get a safety pip or a normal pip.
The number of pips to rank up does not make the game any less difficult like your suggesting. That's clearly as delusional as you can get.

I meant why is breaking totems a problem if the killer is that bad?
Also, one kill isn't going to get them to red ranks.
0 -
Well, if you are maining let's say Ghostface and you have no idea how to play huntress, but you gotta play with her because of the challanges, you will play poorly, so a lot of people bring in noed to help them. Since when you first level up a killer, the first perks you get are most of the time bs, so instead of using whispers 1 or iron maiden, it's better for you to use NOED.
This is only for those guys who play killer in red rank, but have no idea how to play other killers. Look at me, i can play huntress very well, but if i'm trying to play with nurse or billy, i'm gonna get my butt kicked in red ranks.

Rank 1 survivor: rank 1 killer bad
Also rank 1 survivor: what is hex?

If anyone completes a gen you see the totems. Besides if you're only doing totems then you'd only have 2 on gens with one running the killer.
0 -
Yeah but cant you camp with Freddy and it not register because of no heartbeat?
0 -
I mean, it's pretty easy for anyone to be red ranks now. I see a lot of red rank survivors who just toss pallets like hot cakes against Plague. Ez 4k
1 -
You actually hear his lullaby.
1 -
Sorry to burst your bubba bubble. But if a killer is face camping you and they down everyone else because of NOED. They're not even going to stay in red ranks let alone make it to red ranks playing that way.
0 -
Bad killers don't hit red ranks, succesful rank killers hit red ranks.
If their tactics are unfun, then it was bad survivors that allowed them to rank up using strategies that can be countered.
But if they are consistently pipping, then their strategies and tactics are working.

The camping penalty is based off distance rather than TR. I believe its 16 meters.
1 -
Definitely not true.
I've faced many rank 20 killers recently because matchmaking is messed up. I've also faced a bunch of red rank killers that play like rank 20's. I'm seriously SHOCKED when the game ends and it turns out the guy was a rank 3. When they chased one survivor the entire game, applied ZERO pressure to other survivors, lost every mind game, and respected every pallet way too hard.
There are a lot of boosted players at red ranks, on both sides.
When I play against a legit red rank I can tell the difference. But the boosted ones make me think I'm against another rank 20 until that end game screen pops up.

First, I'd say, everything on these forums are opinions.
Secondly, 1 game vs you, is not a large enough sample to decide their skill level. Maybe they had a bad game, maybe they made a bad decision, sometimes I let my lady or friend play on my account and as such may not be an accurate representation of my skill and rank, same for them perhaps.
But, survivors can boost each other in ranks, what can boost a killers rank?
0 -
Because it could potentially turn the entire game around, since even bad killers can just break every pallet and create deadzones while you waste time looking for a totem that already got cleansed. Or worse, you only think it got cleansed and now they still have NOED and you wasted all that time. Or they DONT have NOED and you still wasted all that time and now one of your team is dead because you didn't get the gens done quick enough. For every game where your crack team of solo que survivors disables the killers noed and you all escape with extreme teamwork, there's 20 that you practically handed to the killer on a shining silver platter because you just didn't do gens.
'Do bones' is easily the worst piece of advice in solo que. The only real counter to NOED is to just give up and leave, which is extremely unfair for everyone involved except the killer. But if people stopped getting altruistic around NOED nobody would run it because 1 facecamped kill is worth no pip points.
And that brings me to the other problem: 1 NOED facecamp isn't a reward, you get punished (negative emblem for facecamping) about as much as you get rewarded. So why do it? You literally get more points hunting down and slapping (not even hooking) other survivors.

The guy who stack 4 second chances perks and ends up dying cause he's too edgy to break totems.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
1 -
I have survivors in my green rank matches who cleanse dull totems when I don't even run NOED.
Granted, they end up being purple/red ranks anyway but still

What bothers me is that you managed to hook a survivor in the basement, they made the mistake of dive bombing the hook, and somehow according to you is a problem with the game? All you did was point out how stupid it was for them to dive bomb tge basement. If they saw you camping the upstairs of the basement they should have worked on gens. They could have had 3 done by the time she died (assuming she struggeled). And your emblems would have tanked. Its a 4v1 game, not a 1v1. Yes, its "unfun" for the person on the hook, but its also unfun for the killer if no one shows up to bomb the hook.
0 -
And actually, that answers the healine of this thread, "bad killers" get to red ranks because survivors do really silly things sometimes. If no survivors ever made any mistakes, very few killers would make it out of yellow.
1 -
Also another issue is players using killers they are bad at due to stacking dailies.
I am not very good with billy(I'd be about a rank 15 at most with him if I mained him) sense I can't control his dash properly but I can reach purple ranks with huntress/trapper.
So when i get called a baby killer with billy I really don't take to personally sense I know I am terrible with him.
1 -
When did I say anything is a problem with the game? I was just proving to that guy that you can pip in purple ranks with 4 hooks. Because for some reason, he didn't think it could be done. "THE MATH SAYS ITS IMPOSSIBLE"
So, by the fact that you can pip in purple with 4 hooks, it's not hard to reach red ranks. You could also just spam legion and pip or safety almost every game no matter what, even if you only kill like 1 person.
0 -
Same, when I started messing with nurse i got plenty of those 😂
1 -
Fair play, really just depends on the survivors and what they do. What they did was high risk low reward from a team stand point. Their time would have been better spent breaking totems in case of noed and doing gens
0 -
Not really, considering if you care about your rank, you are forced to go for those saves. You can do all the gens, escape, and depip if people were dying on their first hooks and you never even saw the killer. From a pipping and points perspective it's way more worth your time to go bomb the hook with BT.
0 -
If every single game someone camped like that sure, you can safety on those games and pip on games not like that. I almost never see killers hard camping like that and usually when I do theres an obvious and legit reason for it.
All that said, I always run BT and I think its fun getting someone out of the basement so if I die doing it I dont mind. Earlier today i traded with someone in the basement, then when the killer got upstairs I used deliverance to get off the hook, then ds to get away. Was awesome.

I'm pretty sure NOED itself doesn't allow for pips in the red ranks. Getting a 4k after a 10 minute or so long game solely because you managed to one hook everyone at the very end doesn't equal a pip. Your Gatekeeper, Chaser, and Malicious will be too low for a pip. Not only that, but Chaser drains your points in the time it takes to turn around and decide where you're going next. If they pip, then they clearly did more than you perceive they did or your team is as boosted as you claim the Killer is.
