He seriously said that? Jesus

What he said in full was that camping is intentionally balanced in such a way that it keeps the killer distracted while the survivors work on generators. In other words, camping as it stands now is supposed to be relatively unrewarding as a strategy as long as survivors punish it rather than feeding it. He also acknowledged that it's not much fun for the survivor on the hook, which is something that the developers aren't happy with and are looking into adjustments they could make to change that.

As long as they know it's unfair for the survivor on hook, I hope they're planning something for it.
Thanks for the clarification.

I mean there's a difference between balanced and fair. Is it balanced? I mean if survivors stay on gens they could leave with no more deaths. Is it fair? Not really for the poor soul who was unlucky enough to get downed, which is bound to happen at least once a match.
So I agree with the guy that it's technically balanced but that doesn't really make it okay that they choose to allow something very unfair to happen to the campee.

All good - it's all in the stream summary I posted, in case you missed it! (I only mention it because I know you were one of the people that specifically said you were waiting to see it.)

Yes! Thank you, my guy was sleeping during the stream and I couldn't really hear Not_Queen right and I didn't even think about wearing headphones for some reason.
Thanks!

@Fibijean if this was the point that he made then he is right. I don't know exactly what he said because I didn't see all the stream so I don't know exactly what happened. Seeing just this line made me believe that he said that it's ok to camp. Thanks for the explanation 😊

The problem is that that statement isn't entirely true either about it being balanced for survivor, it's very easy to just win the game by camping.
Otzdarva recently did an experiment on this, it was initially meant to be about noed and proving how easy it was to win the game by doing the laziest strategy possible: camp hooks and then endgame with noed. The problem in the first few games was that the camping strategy was so effective that a lot of times the game didnt even make it to the stage where noed came into play and he ended up having to drop the pure camping aspect of his trials to start to prove anything about noed.
I understand that 1)Otz's killer skill isn't representitive of the whole killer base for downing survivors to camp in the first place and 2) killers are still punished for hook proximity and 3) there is a lot of variation between games but the fact that camping made it so consistently easy to get 3-4k every match in the first place with very little if any other actions says something about how balanced it can be.
That being said I know it's a hard gameplay issue to address because there's no mechanic you can really implement to prevent it that wouldn't be completely unfair to all killers in general and it's not fair to punish killers for the actions of a portion of the playerbase either

JFC the OP should go into politics with how well they cherry picked a completely out of context line and got so many people to bite without them even considering that maybe there's more to those four words than meets the eye...

Didn't watch the otz video, but what makes camping 'successful' for killers are the hero survivors that throw the game to save that person. Think of it like this, the killer is handing you 3/6th of survivor objective by hanging out by the hook for 2 minutes.
If everyone stopped feeding themselves to the camper, it would stop being such an issue.
1 -
Its balanced with comms. But not in solo queue. In solo queue every survivor has to stop what they're doing and run to the hook to see whats going on, which means less time for gens. 3 people have a much harder time completing all objectives than 4. Camping is an inherent abuse of the power role (Killer) and needs to be properly addressed.
4 -
😂😂😂😂😂😂 imagine thinking the killer has the power role in dbd
4 -
They do. I don't have any issues securing my 4ks as killer and Im up against red ranks all the time. Just because you're bad at the game and can't exert your dominance doesn't mean the rest of us can't.
5 -
Beating 4 solos, red or not isnt hard. The power role is tge 4 man swf group. This has been proven over and over again.
4 -
I agree with him,you cant possible balance the game perfectly, camping is not a viable tactic for the killer.
0 -
The devs have stated the majority of games aren't 4 man SWF. So if you're losing enough to complain about it then you might wanna admit you're not good at killer.
5 -
Im not complaining about, just pointing out a well known fact. Killer is not the power role
6 -
Well I disagree. And Ill leave it at that. Excuse me while I go steamroll more red ranks.
4 -
I would ask the same about most questions answered simply as not planned or no in the stream.

It's cute when people try to flex as a form of argument.
No one gives a crap about your flexing, bro.
3 -
I do and thats all that matters. 😁

The problem was left with the strength of Camping and more the fact that the survivors fed into it when you have someone with the skill level of Otz all it takes is a little bit of feeding and you could practically end up with an easy win wealth against more average Killers a little bit of feeding isn't going to do that much
1 -
Maybe the fact that any non-SWF will get destroyed versus a camping Bubba is evidence enough? Camping killers need to be punished by SLOWING the hooked survivor’s death timer when the killer isn’t in chase. That way camping becomes MUCH LESS viable.
2 -
Ready did that, survivors abused the hell out of it. Plus after the first person gets caught by it y keep going into it? Yeah altruism is important but killers have to be able to defend the hook, face camping sucks but punishing killers with longer timers for defending an objective is a terrible idea. Its the same as asking that gens take 50% longer to do per person on gen. Thats dumb right? Same issue if survivors get longer hook timers for being nearby the hook.
INB4 ThEy ArE, tHeY gEt PeNaLtIeS. Not really, gen still goes by faster with 2,3,4 people, even if it has diminishing returns.

Yeah i acknowledged otz's skill level in my post.

Very true about feeding but i get survivors will still do it because the game becomes so so boring so quickly if its just gens gens gens out, there's no rush or excitemnt from the killer and its very satisfuing getting someone out, even if it is just a one for one. Even now I would 100% still go for teammate as long as I had borrowed time than do gens
0 -
I think this is the best way to address face camping tbh. If it's implemented though it has to be a core mechanic and not a perk which I feel might be seen as an option by devs

It's not fun for the survivor on the hook? It's not fun for the entire team.

The only time camping isn't "balanced" in this context is when NOED is involved.
Killers do always state that to combat canning you just do gens, you can't reasonably do all gens and find all totems before the first person dies unless you get lucky with the turns, this method of gameplay basically gaurantees 2 kills, you can increase this by slugging end game if your totem is in a good spot.
For what it's worth, I'm fine with camping, yes it's boring and I'll continue to say it's boring but it's fine until it's coupled with NOED imo.

He did mention that it sadly wouldn't be fun for the survivor on the hook, but he did mean that camping is balance in the sense that it allows other survivors to rush the gens, hence the Killer being punished.

lol you "devs" are always so unprofessional on these forums. Dont get your feelings hurt little guy, no need to be so defensive.

As a player who acts as the distraction though I can pound out generators pretty darn fast on my own, I get camped a lot cause I am upping my game on being a pain to catch.
And it would be excellent if the survivor so camped gets bonus bliodpoints for putting up with a super boring. And extra bonus points if the killer uses you as a punching bag rather than hunting the other survivors.
I'm a lazy killer (maybe a boring killer). I catch a survivor, I toss him on a hook. I look around for folks, find a genny kick it. Do a generator patrol unless I find scratches then follow the scratches.
