Hey guys, getting a little better here, got my first team wipe (yay) but still a lot I don't have a grasp on yet.

So I was looking for good builds (any suggestions? I loooove Micheal Myers so much it's what got me into DBD, I enjoy the Doctor, Leatherface, pukey girl, uh.. Freddy) and I see that a lot of builds say BBQ and Chili, which no explanation needed, but I also see abuse as one and I'm curious about something. I know terror radius is heartbeat, but why do I want to expand that? Like what as a killer should make me want to expand terror radius? Does it just make skill checks more frequent? Is it so they don't always know "Okay he's close because I hear this thing"?

Should I ignore my Michael obsession, how much fun I find Freddy / Doc to play, ignore win/loss and genuinely focus on every killer to 50 for teachable? Like should I just bite the bullet, maybe that means some bad games on killers I don't vibe with, just to get that library?

Does prestige reset teachable? Like, if I prestige Leatherface whom is by strides my highest level at 45 because I wanted BBQ, do I lose that perk for everyone else or does making something teachable just stop there? Like once teachable, teachable.

Edit: Forgot one. I was on Michael, and my stalk wouldn't go up anymore. I don't see anything in the description about max stalk, or caps on one survivor, or not working on my obsession? What am I missing here? Any reason my power wouldn't progress to rank 3?

Thanks y'all I appreciate it.

As for the final question, yes there's a cap on how much stalk you can get from each survivor. You know you've reached the cap when their outline is bright red instead of the white it begins at. I don't believe they regain stalk throughout the match, although I might be wrong.

I appreciate it and they must not because it was a game that I killed all four people and the very last person I hadn't seen in awhile but I couldn't increase my power any further so it was either faster than my brain is telling me it was, the match I mean, or it just stays that way. But I appreciate that thank you now I know that and I will make sure I'm using it at the right time and not just charging it up for no reason

For your question regarding monitor and abuse, people typically use it for the fact that it lowers your TR when outside of a chase. This allows you to get close to survivors when they're busy working on gens and such before they release you're there. The increased TR while in a chase part is MOSTLY disregarded, although it does help out abit on TR based perks like infectious fright.

Usually, if people are recommending Monitor and Abuse, it's for the smaller terror radius outside a chase, rather than the expanded terror radius during a chase, because it helps you sneak up on people. Skill checks are not more frequent within your terror radius, unless you're also using Unnerving Presence. The only killer on whom you would really want a larger terror radius is Doctor, but since Doctor's Static Blast (which is effective within his terror radius) is generally best used outside a chase, Distressing is a far better pick than M&A for him if that's the effect you're aiming for.

If you want to try learning different killers, that can be a good idea, but if you'd rather not, you don't have to play them to level them. You can just play the killers you do enjoy and spend the bloodpoints you earn on other killers to unlock their teachable perks.

Once you unlock a teachable perk, it's always available to all of your killers. Prestiging a killer will not lock their teachable perks, but you will lose any other perks, offerings or add-ons that you've unlocked on that particular killer. Prestige is basically like starting again from level 1, with three key differences: (a) you now have their teachable perks unlocked, (b) you have a bloody cosmetic piece, and (c) you have a slightly higher chance of finding rare perks, offerings and add-ons in that killer's bloodweb.

Michael can only stalk each survivor a limited amount. If a survivor shows as bright red when you try to stalk them, and your stalking metre doesn't go up, that means that you have already gained as much power as you can from that survivor in this match. If the survivor didn't have a coloured aura at all, you were probably either too far away or too much of the survivor's body was concealed for you to be able to stalk them.

BBQ and Chili is a solid Perk mostly because of the BPs. But you should not be afraid to not use it, when it does not suit the Killer. e.g. a Hag has less benefit from BBQ than Freddy for example. But if you want those double BPs in every game, use it, but from my experience, it is fine to play it on Killers where the Aura Read has a good impact.

Regarding Monitor&Abuse - this was already explained, it is basically to "sneak up" on Survivors. 24 Meter Terror Radius (or even 16, on some Killers) with Monitor helps a lot to get closer. And for some Killers it is really beneficial to their Kit, e.g. Pig can use Monitor&Abuse and Whispers, meaning when Whispers activates, you can crouch and the Survivors will not know that you are there.

Monitor&Abuse is also pretty useful on Myers in that regard. His Terror Radius in Tier 2 is 16 Meters, so with Monitor it is insanely small.

Also, another use for Monitor is the combination with Infectious Fright (the Plague-Perk which lets people scream). Because inside a Chase the Terror Radius is bigger, so you get more information where people are. Also useful for Myers, because you know if Survivors are around and if they are worth chasing (aka they are not at a strong position), you can go for them instead of picking the guy up you just downed, to create more Map Pressure. Myers is good for that because he has an Insta-Down.

Thanks y'all I appreciate it. I kind of figured that was part of it but I wasn't sure if like there was something regarding terror radius that I was missing or if I should as you said disregard that part of it. Again, thank you.

Did you lose your "trusted"? It dosnet say your trusted next to your name or when you comment on posts

I recommend you to play survivor, playing killer in high ranks is a horrible experience, playing survivor is way less frustrating.

Because I was never part of the "trusted" program. I got my red pfp from being forum member of the month awhile back. Not sure if they did that for very long though, because I only know of 1 other person with it.

M&A is about reducing your terror radius before getting in a chase, works pretty good on bubba. The increase is supposed to be a drawback to using the perk but most dont care what their terror radius is while in chase. It is also good on michael. Fred and doc not so much.

Right now dont worry about anything except understanding the tiles and how to chase through them. Theres some really good vids out there. The bps will come either way, just practice chasing and focus on how to stop loops.

No prestige doesnt reset teachables, though i advise getting all killers to 50 before prestiging. Or figure out a build you really like on a killer you really like and get the teachables for those, then you can p3 the killer you like. Thats probably tge most efficient.

    Welcome to the fog 😊

The forum has two overlapping programs that were created by the community team as a way of recognising standout community members: Forum User of the Month and the Trusted program. The criteria for being selected for either one are fairly similar - be helpful, be active, be kind and civil, don't lose your cool. FUotM gives you a red profile picture, and all Trusted members were chosen as FUotM at some point in the past, which is why we all have the red profile picture, but not all FUotM become Trusted.

There's barely any information out there about the FUotM - what I just gave is about the extent of it - but if you want to learn more about the Trusted program, you can find more information in this post: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/89809/pilot-the-trusted-members
