What is something that a survivor does that will make you tunnel?

For example: if I get blinded at a pallet, I will always tunnel them to death because there's no reason for it in my opinion.

Nothing really. I only "tunnel" if it's strategically sound at the time.

Typically I'll avoid wasting my time I i think someone has BT on them or an active DS, but... If a person is forcing my hand by bodyblocking who I WANT to hit...I hope theyre prepared to take afew MORE hits.

Really? The reason for it is so they can A) get more bps and B) get away from you while you cant see.

I dont really get mad enough to tunnel anymore, but my hex getting broken 20 seconds into a game makes me reconsider sometimes if i know who it is

I may tunnel inadvertently, but I generally do not tunnel intentionally. Btw, imo, blinding at a pallet is not a good reason. It's a tactic that can give the survivor some distance, and confuse the killer about the direction they went in. Perfectly good strategy. I'd more likely tunnel them for teabagging at a pallet. :)

tunnling is ineffective only if the survivor knows how to run the killer.

I would love to get tunnled but killers are scared to chase and they always look for the easiest survivor

I tend to target brightly coloured survivors, cause it's like look! I'm awesomely good! Try and catch me! Or I need to be chased for a daily, pick me pick me! So I oblige.

As to getting focused on who will be hooked, it's the annoying survivors that are body blocking me, flashlight blinding me constantly, even when I'm just going around kicking generators.

If my daughter is watching me play, she likes it when I target Elf Dwights. Like seriously, she wants him to feed the spider god. So to Elf Dwiights, I'm sorry, my toddler's delight makes me smile. But she gives me heck if I hook a character that her uncle plays.

Playing dirty. If someone wants to force a DS or BT, fine. They can't complain when I tunnel the now-weak link. Oh, what's that? You have 4 perks protecting your arse so you can make arrogant plays? Well, too bad I didn't respect them and casually tore them away bit by bit whilst juggling 3 people.

Bonus points if we all GG in the post game. We know what we did. We're bad people. All of us. Collectively.

how is tunneling ineffective? unless you go full brain dead tunnel. 99% of the time people say someone is tunneling when they get unhooked and the killer pops out of a bush and smacks them. The only way that would be bad is if they had ds and it not that bad just annoying .

There is a reason to have a flashlight ready to use at a dropped pallet. It’s to penalize or prevent (protect) the killer from breaking it. The additional stun from the blind after the pallet break animation also gives the survivor a chance to quite literally - break line of sight allowing for an easier escape from the chase. Though, I must agree it is rather infuriating from the killers perspective. But there is a purpose/reason for it. Also required for challenges.

Abusing DS - that’s hilarious. You can’t abuse a perk that’s a one time use even if you miss it 😂 it has its purpose and it’s to prevent you from preventing me from playing the game. You clearly have the entitled idea that you deserve quick easy downs and re-downs without repercussion. The game is trying to teach you to find new targets. That’s what separates good players from bad players 😂

    Killers tunnel survivors when they...

    • Spawn into a match
    • Touch a gen
    • Walk around objects
    • Breath audibly
    • Get seen
    • Walk passed palette or vault a window
    • Walk within 16m of a totem (dull or lit)
    • Touch another survivor
    • Have the sheer audacity to get off-hooked

    😂

I think you people are forgetting the fact that survivors get points / emblem rating for everything they do. Rather than be upset just understand they need to make those arrogant plays and irritating stuns to rank up. Idk why people expect zero resistance from survivors. What you’re demanding from the game sounds quite stale. that everyone spawns in and just holds down a button on a gen or runs in a straight line, misuses pallets. just lay down and die for you every game huh? No disrupting moves that make that particular match unique right? Nope.

  • MadLordJack
    MadLordJack Member Posts: 8,814

The entitlement in this post. The sheer, sheer entitlement. You don't want to get punished for getting in my face, making bad plays and relying on second-chance perks? You think it's okay to bodyblock with BT/DS/DH/Unbreakable? You want an easy game?

If you want to play like an arsehole, so will I. It's that simple. Get in my face because your effectively immortal and I will make sure you and your team dies. I don't care, if it's the right play I will make it. If a team comes at me with an OoO and 4 SB's, expect no mercy. You clearly have none.

You can abuse it. For example taking advantage of what amounts to be 1min of immunity to work on a gen without healing, and when the killer comes, jump in a locker.

As far as I'm concerned, if you feel safe enough to work on a gen without healing, I'm not tunneling. I'm just doing my objective.

  • SurviveByDaylight
    SurviveByDaylight Member Posts: 720

I understand what you’re going through. After playing both sides there should be a pretty clear understanding that, as killer, you have to be mindful of everything you do too. Not just survivors. That’s what makes the game dynamic. Otherwise it would be a stale experience. Without survivor intervention during chases, the game just feels like you’re going through the motion. Surely you understand the game doesn’t revolve around you right? That there are four other people that want to do more than repair a generator all game. The killer can only chase one guy. What else are they gonna do, stop and stare while they’re waiting their turn to get chased? That’s not going to get you pip. If you think about it, denying a hook or prolonging the chases in any way give you more encounters/interactions with the killer which yields a better score for everyone, including the killer. But I mean, how HARD is it really to get a down? Is it really slim pickings out there for you guys? Why should it be paved out for you to down, pick up and hook without the possibility of any interruption? Just smooth sailing on over to that hook that happened to already be next to the down you just got. Would you look at that? Don’t even have to bring in putrid oak did you? They’re already around every corner for you.

  • SurviveByDaylight
    SurviveByDaylight Member Posts: 720

i don’t think that’s abusing it at all . First of all it’s a perk and It’s supposed to benefit the survivor long enough to actually be useful. So what if he hops In a locker, just eat the stun 5s isn’t a lot of time to some of these killers that can catch up quickly or have good anti loop. Second of all, it’s a one time use even if they miss it. Third of all, you as a killer could be spending that minute keeping the other 3 survivors off a generator instead which is just as productive. One of which should be exposed for getting the hook rescue. Chase that guy. Also, that one minute is just enough time to get back on their feet. You could still be “doing your objective” By chasing other people. There have been plenty of times where I didn’t feel like that minute was long enough. It’s easy to wait out especially if you got the guy slugged. You’re just doing you’re objective tunneling, well, that’s the price you should pay for keeping someone pinned down to where they can’t do anything to help their team. 1 min gives People a chance to get back on their feet if that’s what they choose to do. Spend it wisely.

    SaltedSnow Member Posts: 309

I always go for the unhooker, if the idiot decides not to heal and be near me while I'm mid-chase I'm going to go for a down. You clearly don't understand how important those 5 seconds can be.

What I hate about locker DS is the cocky little rats think they're immortal when they do it. Of course there are times I'll eat the DS. It's the arrogance I dislike, to not even heal because they're so sure if their immortality. As far as I'm concerned ds should deactivate when you work on a gen. There are side objectives to do, they can heal, etc, but jumping straight on a gen shows how safe they are.

Just finished a Match when i was tunneling like no tomorrow, 4 Kills.

Why i Tunnel ? When i Tunnel ? I never tunnel... but there are rare situations when i tunnel. I'm triggered when:

    • i am versus 4 swf (not a problem), one of them is doing "clicky clicky no stop" trying to grab my attention for more than 1 gen because i dont chase him (i am not so silly to chase no stop 1 single surv) and i keep high pressure on gen. Clicky Clicky Surv has earned a special place and he is the first of my todo-list after i remove the first surv from the game.
    • i am versus 4 swf and they start to troll. they have discord/ts and they start to try desperately head on more than once, or only the same surv. i'm triggered so i start to focus more than ever in a super try hard tunneling experience for everyone, one after each other.

yeaahhhh boys, those are the things that turn on my tunneling machine.

ofc i'm not saying they cannot do those things, surv are free to do everything in game to reach their target.

I don't like being re-hit immediately after being unhooked, and i get no additional joy out of hitting the recently unhooked.

So i go back to the good ol' rule of: Treat others how you want to be treated.

Also, i LOVE Make Your Choice recently.

    Clicky clicky gets the hook.

Excessive teabagging on top of pallet stuns, clicks? Yeah I'll just watch you die as the timer runs out.

And God help you if you have a key and run Object of Obsession.

  • Dehitay
    Dehitay Member Posts: 1,726

I can currently only think of 2 things that make me tunnel.

    1) Object of Obsession

    2) When a survivor with DS runs at me after being unhooked just to abuse DS. If they're gonna give me a free down, waste their DS, and prove to me that they're that kind of player; then there's all the reason to tunnel them.

If your being annoying and toxic I will tunnel without a second thought! OoO will get you a immediate tunnel. On a personal level, following me around when I'm the killer, will get you tunneled.

  • hanniballecturer
    hanniballecturer Member Posts: 31

I tunnel if you're running Object of Obsession, if you're healing under the hook, or if another survivor on your team is trying too hard to get my attention.

Excessive taunting tells me one of the other survivors is probably accustomed to roaming free while the runner keeps the killer busy. Teams fall apart whenever I fail to respond like a dog to the clicks and instead go after the person the clicks were meant to distract from.

People who try to be toxic are really funny, I don't get why people tunnel the head on or the flashlight clicker, they're just being stupid and it's a lot of fun. I love "toxic" squads because of how suicidal they are, last time I got one I could actually win on Ormond because they threw themselves at me over and over again. The only thing that really deserves tunneling is a key or Object if you think it's a sweaty SWF.

Abusing a glitch, or selling your buddies out.

If you open a closet with another survivor in it, or point towards them during a chase, you're going down. Specially if I know you lied about it.

-If they get saved in front of me when I have Devour Hope and I don't happen to see the person who saved them. I will do my best NOT to tunnel them out of the game. And if it comes down to it, I'll even give them the hatch as an apology. Had this happen yesterday, and the survivor seemed appreciative.

-They're in an SWF and running OoO.

-It's end game, and they just got unhooked and their teammate is healed.

-I recognize their name, and they are someone who made a previous game as unfun as possible.

That's about it really. I do my best not to tunnel otherwise.
