Jason and DBD

ThisGuuy83
ThisGuuy83 Member Posts: 1,303

Jason is not coming to DBD.

1. They already have him(AKA trapper)

2. They can't use any outfits, maps, or characters from the franchise because of the lawsuit.

3. He would be weak, and his powers would be stupid. There not gonna let you see where survs are at all times, your not gonna be able to teleport across the map, and any stealth he has will be HARD countered by OoO and spine chills.

4. If ANYTHING was allowed to be done, don't you think they would focus more on another film than DBD or updating/fixing his OWN game? It's so bad his toy line got pulled from necca. Trick or treat studios can't even sell his masks.

So what's hillbilly then? That was there version of leatherface until they got the license. Trapper is there version of Jason. They can't share a lot of similarities because they would get sued for copyright infringement, so they go as close as they can before crossing the line. If they could've got away with it, trapper WOULD have a hockey mask, but, that would've most likely got them into some kind of a lawsuit, so they just made there own masks.

Im not saying they wouldn't, I'm just saying he isn't coming in the next release. If, and that's a BIG IF they somehow got the permission to use him, I'm sure the price would be astronomical right now, and I don't see behavior dishing out that much $ on a character that wouldn't be very fun(power and perk wise) . I mean, sure, people will buy it because it's Jason. We all bought LF too when he came out, but everyone still uses hillbilly. Who honestly prefers LF to hillbilly? Lmao

    No, I totally agree. Like I said, I don't think it's Jason.

That'd be cool, but I just don't think it is.

On your last point, devs said not long after the lawsuit started that even if it got resolved, even quickly, that they would no longer be updating the game, PERIOD. So no, they wouldn't be focusing on his own game. They abandoned it the second the lawsuit (which they knew of when they got the license). Thst game was always a nostalgia cash grab with a guaranteed expiration date for those scumbag developers.

One of the main reason I did not buy their predator game.

Screw them. They are the main reason why I have not backed another game on kick starter.

They can't fix Jason's own game because the people who made it are bankrupt. I honestly think Jason would be awesome but after watching a YouTuber called Paulie Esther last night I think it will be xenomorph,Candyman or pennywise just my opinion and just because we have a killer just like Jason aka trapper doesn't mean we can't get him look at hillbilly and leatherface

Parts of your argument I take issue with...

    1. The Trapper and the Jason are in no ways similar. The Trapper as a character isn't uncommon within the slasher genre, he's silent, evil, obscures his face with a mask, and is deadly. This could apply to any of the Dead by Daylight characters such as The Clown, Michael, or the Huntress. So would the Trapper be a rip off of Michael Myers? Jason's a supernatural zombie with mommy issues and the Trapper is some rich douchebag without any powers other than his aura reading abilities. He's more so like Axel from My Blood Valentine than Jason. He may be inspired by Jason but that's about it.
    2. Even if the Friday the 13th wasn't a copyright nightmare, Jason could still appear in multiple games. He's in Mortal Kombat X, Killer Puzzle, and Friday the 13th: The Game. Just because he's in Friday the 13th: The Game doesn't mean he can't appear in Dead by Daylight, provided the smoke settles after the lawsuit.

I'm unsure of what they'd do with his powers, but I highly doubt they'd take influence from his game though I'd love an OP killer of this nature, I could agree with him not fitting in due to his abilities but bare in mind that Jason has gone through various changes over the franchise.

The guy is also suing to own the rights to Jason name as well. So you wouldnt even be able to reference him by name either.

It be ghostface all over again

You need to learn the difference between abandoning the game from working on the game until an active deadline BY LAW restricts you from applying further support to the project, thus leaving it for the sake of the business. The content that was halted wasn't finished by the deadline becuase they were focusing on prior content plus the overall health of the game, more particularly the servers.

Just saying how ghostface has no mention or reference to the scream movies and the same could happen to Jason.

But if you haven't heard Scream 5 movie is supposedly happening and can't wait for it!!!!

As I said, DBD doesn't even use the names, so that shouldn't be an issue. Freddy is The Nightmare, Michael Meyers is The Shape, Leatherface is The Cannibal, and so on.

However, the last i heard, the judge ruled that the writer of the original film got the rights to the name "Friday the 13th", but the studio got the rights to the Jason character, and it's the studio that has filed the appeal, to get the name "Friday the 13th" back, not the other way around. I'm also pretty sure that you cannot own a persons name. It's only a problem if you use the name along with a specific likeness and you don't have permission to use them. The Jason in the first movie is not the same as the other Jasons that we have come to associate with the franchise. As long as they get permission from the studio, there shouldn't be an issue.

No. Read the lawsuit in full. If that was the case, then f13 could've put out the Jason x skin and spaceship level. And Jason's hockey mask IS specific, as it's modified with extra holes and a special look. Go to neccas( one of biggest horror model makers) and check about Jason. Research your info before blabbing on about something you clearly don't understand.

They didn't abandon it, they were stopped by court orders once everything was put into the so called "freeze". There not allowed to add ANYTHING to the game because of the lawsuit, so they SOLD it to another company that's huge fans of the franchise and have been making visual and bug improvements ever since. Once the lawsuit is over(time pending) they will release more content.

GhostFace is not tied to the scream franchise at all. FunWorld owns the rights to the GhostFace name and costume. The movies are by a different owner, and those owners contacted FunWorld to use the costume in their movies.

I can't wait for the 5th movie either!

There not a bad company. They did a great job and made a lot of Jason fans dreams a reality. I never in a million years would've thought we would get a f13 game where you controlled Jason the way you get to, and brutally murdered people in the most gruesome and creative ways possible. It's not there fault, all the lawsuit bs broke loose about a year after the games release and put them in a corner with there hands tied. Sorry you missed out on predator, it's a fun game too.

Lol I think I am little more informed then you are with the f13, my name is on a tombstone....

And no need for the sorry bud I am glad you enjoy the game but from what I seen and played the game is trash.

I rather play the nes predator game then ever spend a minute on that hot dumpster fire of a game.

You are wrong on all points except the lawsuit. Gun Media has the rights to the game, they always have. Gun Media even ran the original Kickstarter. Gun Media then hired Illfonic to code the game, which Illfonic did. When the lawsuit caused a freeze on all new content for the game, Illfonic moved on and was hired by Sony to do Predator: Hunting Grounds. Once Illfonic left F13, Gun Media then hired Black Tower to handle upkeep and bug squashing.

The issue is, the coding that Illfonic did on F13 is so screwy that Black Tower already stated they can't do much more than bug fixes, and adding new content would be impossible for them.

Randy of Gun Media has told the F13 fan base multiple times now that the game is done and over except for bug fixes a few times a year. If the lawsuit ended tomorrow, there would never, ever, be new content added to F13 now. That is directly from Gun Media. No new content ever, regardless now.

Matter of fact, Gun Media has stated that they have one, maybe two, bug patches left and then that is it as far as they are concerned, too. The servers will be on for another couple of years until the license ends, but at the end of that term they plan to make it a purely offline Bots mode that no longer involves them. They're working with Black Tower on something that will allow everyone to keep their progress and unlocked Jasons and Perks for when that happens.

But per Gun Media's official word: No new content ever, regardless of how or when the lawsuit ends. License ends in a couple of years, and servers end with it. But they hope to have an offline bots mode still around after that for people to still play on their end.

Just googled neccas. Absolutely nothing about anything horror or film related for pages. Mostly stuff to do with New England Center for Circus Arts. So I guess one of the biggest horror model makers apparently isn't all that big. And since you're claiming to know so much about this lawsuit, that means either you read everything on hardcopy for some weird reason or you actually know of some website that supports the facts you're laying out. Those would be incredibly helpful to proving your point. Cause everything I've read so far stats that Victor Miller was the original screenplay writer for the first film. Any copyright claims he has would be limited only to what he's actually worked on. And I think everybody knows that Jason X and every version of Jason as an adult wasn't in the first film. The reason the F13 game can't put out new content is because the very name of the game is called Friday the 13th and regularly uses Camp Crystal Lake both of which were given to Victor Miller in the US.

How are you gonna say you can see how maybe he was inspired by Jason, but then say how is he like him? Lol what are you referring to then, his voice? Dude he straight up is a Jason rip off.

    1. The mask

    2. The body build

    3. The way he walks is EXACTLY like Jason.

He is not coming to the game and I for one don't see any reason on earth anyone would want that. Why would we want the mystique of a new killer wasted on someone who literally has their own game that's almost just like DbD?

The reason people use LF over Hillbilly is because hillbilly is far superior in terms of everything. Hillbilly can end chases quickly, he can counter loops, he has lots of map pressure. AND has an insta down. He's the perfect killer. Whereas LF has an insta down and that's. You barely ever actually get to down anyone with your power unless your against potatoes

"He's a big guy with a mask, which is very, very uncommon in horror, therefore he must be exactly like Jason! Jason who is well known for his many bear trap-centric kills and rich-kid backstory!"

(Also, do you just not know the difference between "inspired by" and "the same"? Jeez.)

I have to say, the thing that has me thinking Chapter 16 is Jason, is the announcement/anniversary stream day/date.

DBD anniversary is 14 Jun, but we are instead getting the stream on the 26 May, 3yrs to the day after the release of F13 the game. Also, when have you EVER known DBD to do a live stream on a TUESDAY?! The whole timing just seems so odd and specific.

    Just my 2c!

So I guess when they announced that the Jason x dlc would drop after the lawsuit stuff was over was bs then? The game still has a huge fanbase. They could easily add new content when all the smoke settles if they choose to. Illfonic went to predator because they wanted to make $, not just do bug patches and sit on there hands most the day looking at all the great content they created and couldn't release it. So, your telling me there gonna just trash all that hard work, time, and $ that went into it? I see them possibly re-releasing it for the next gen consoles, but that's only if the legal ######### gets sorted. This game is a guaranteed cash cow. Why would they just abandon it?? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Good for you. Go enjoy nes predator. Make sure to blow the dust out the cartridge first. I'm still gonna enjoy ps4 predator. And who cares if your names on a tombstone. Just means you dished out a crapload of $ for something probably 95% of the player base never even paid attention to.

1- we actually got leatherface-hillbilly and legion-ghostface. Bhvr can do it again.

2-If they don't use the script from the first movie (and not to mention Jason Boy or his mother) there will be no problem.

3-licensed characters are weak? Freddy are weak? Ghostface are weak? Pig are weak?.

4-they are a gigantic company that can indulge in multiple things.

Jason got a high chance to come to dbd

I believe when he won the first round of the lawsuit, the other side appealed it and then he also sued for the name of Jason. But I could be wrong on that

  • SpacingLlamas
    SpacingLlamas Member Posts: 602

The Devs of F13 Game did say even when the lawsuit ends they wont add anymore content to the game as you can't leave a project for so long then just come back to it. That's their words

And like you said other devs already deal with the game now for bug updates. Their completely done with the game and made it clear so people wouldn't have high hopes in the future.

  • ThisGuuy83
    ThisGuuy83 Member Posts: 1,303

Freddy is about the only decent one. Pig and GF are hard countered by spine chills. Get swf's running it w coms, good luck!

The lawsuit is also holding up Jason, because HIS movies are also called what again? Once again, that's why NECA canceled there upcoming products related to him. He came to MK right before the lawsuit, that's the only reason they got him. It went as far as screwing w the puzzle game too for Android. There not allowed to add any more content either.

And as we've seen, do we really want a worse version of a killer we already technically have?

You are only right with point 2.

Trapper is nothing like Jason. They have different lores and customization.

You can't predict future and say that he would be weak. I think the devs learned that making a weak killers is completely waste of potential, time, money and fun for the community.

They're trying to fix everything, but very slowly, which is bad because the game has so many broken bugs atm. Besides they already maked a lot of progress to a balance for both sides with removing the events potential. And guess what? The game is more unfun and unfair than year ago for both sides.

I would be very disappointed if the new killer turned out to be Jason. There are a lot more interesting choices. We want someone who feels different to play than the others. I don't think Jason could achieve that.

And sorry if you didn't like the game, but that's not gonna stop the 1mil+ that do enjoy it and find it entertaining. It's more entertaining than this game is at it's current stage. Sure it has its issues, but it's a new game developed by a small budget company. Illfonic isn't a triple a title. Calm down. Let's play your predator game and see how awesome it is.
