The counter is to never be injured.... this shouldn't be too hard to accomplish with how EASY it is to play Survivor 😏

But for real, I have no idea! Unless you have Iron Will equipped, you're gonna have a bad time....

I know, but at least you have a better chance at surviving with it on.... it's not as bad as the Spirit not having Stridor and you not having Iron Will, as your injured noises would be at 100% volume -- but with Iron Will, they're only at 50% when they're using Stridor.

Just die or hope the Spirit is deaf. Not much you can do in that scenario.

Sounds bugs for months have killed noises from survivors either injuried or mainly downed, who needs iron will!

Stridor counters iron will. But survivors groans of pain would be at 50% and with chase music being too loud it’s sometimes hard to hear.

if you are playing SWF, during a chase tell your friend to jump in and out of a locker to make too much noise and she won’t be able to listen to anything but the loud noise your friend is making.

You'll either have to run Off The Record or No Mither

That's when you rely on baits and predictions over perks ..spirits run stridor to weaken iron will to begin with

Just accept you won't have fun and that any 2 digit IQ killer will destroy you. Might aswell just alt+f4... Oh Wait, Dc PeNaLtY.. Uhm suicide on 1St hook.

Q up for a new match and hope for something better.

You mind game the Spirit. Granted she has the advantage but delaying her even a bit is good. As long as you don't get downed in 5 seconds with her m1 into phase combo your good and should rely on your team mates to pump out gens.

Dead Hard is very effective against her. It's almost guaranteed that if a Spirit exits phase and sees you near she will lunge giving you an easy dead hard. She then temporarily turns into a 110 m1 killer.

Wait, are sounds actually working again? I've kept the game on mute for months.

Ah, so this discussion is hypothetical theory rather than practical application. Got it.

If sounds ever are fixed, there'll probably be an engine update within a month that breaks them all over again. Having sounds that actually worked for a few weeks was the most fun I ever had in DbD, and it was also probably the worst thing that ever happened. Seriously, I'd be better off having never experienced that. For a few glorious weeks the chase music didn't overpower every other sound, and I could actually track an injured survivor. Then it ended and I was back to turning in circles trying to pinpoint where that grunt of pain came from before it just poof disappears.

I've heard it's worse on PS4 than on PC, but I can't know if that's true or not since I don't play on PC. All I know is that I applaud any Spirit who can actually hear enough to find a survivor while phasing... can I borrow your amazing ears/luck/$1000 headphones? 😥

As everyone else is saying, hope the Spirit is bad and that your teammates will do gens.

If she has a good headset and is experienced with phasing, you're basically just dead.

If that's not the case though, there are some things you can do to try and trick her.

Like running back and forth in a large area (while staying near a pallet/window for when she exits phase). If you don't have Iron Will the increased sound can actually make it harder to find you for the inexperienced. And with the large area of scratchmarks she won't just be able to go, "oh you're running here".

You can also try and run directly at a vault location and try to mindgame that you're Q&Q/slow vaulting it or actually use it and bait her into thinking you didn't, but with latency I wouldn't rely on windows.

You do realize that spirit having Stridor and you having Iron Will is the equivalent of both of you not having those perks, in other words just use Iron will and both of you are square.

  • TheRockstarKnight
    TheRockstarKnight Member Posts: 2,171

But the default state is that Spirit has an advantage - assuming that they have experience using her power and the ability to hear the Survivor's location via sound - not that the Spirit and the Survivor are on equal footing.

Before you or anyone else gets up in arms: I'm not saying that's a bad thing - nor am I suggesting that Iron Will puts things on equal footing; it definitely gives an advantage to the Survivor - but it is the reason OP is asking for help to try and counter a Spirit with Stridor. Since Iron Will is primarily the 'counter' to Spirit, how do you counter a Spirit that 'counters' your 'counter'?

    iron will+no mither

There is no counter against... the only way is you use iron will + no mither + out of record every match for the care that you will face a spirit with stridor :(

otherwise don’t get injured or use a pink instaheel and hope she don’t find you before you stay healthy again... gl

Play Ace with iron will. Push E to outplay. Hide with Spine Chill.

Well... You could always use No Mither and Iron Will. So those filthy spirit mains can't never heard u ;)

Play stealth. Leave early. Also, when you crouch you're quieter.

In the end, if the Spirit has ears it won't matter, you're just trying to buy as much time as possible. If she's got a brain cell she has a guaranteed hit. Accept it and genrush.

Source: I played Spirit at rank 1 for 3 prestige levels.

Spirit is a Killer with Builtin EZ MODE.

Accept that there's no counter, just tragic attempts to do something that resembles "counterplay", like throwing pallets that are in front of you (expecting the spirit to "phase around the pallet"). Or hey, just start walking midchase/midphase and hope that the spirit doesn't stop phasing while you're still having LOS.

It all comes down to luck, not skill. If you won the coin flip, it wasn't because of anybodys skill, if you lost the coin flip it still wasn't because of anybodys skill.

When we talk about good Spirits using Stridor, there's at least ALWAYS a 50/50 mindgame before you even get hit first. What you don't want is actually getting hit when she walkes normally. She will most likely have her power up after. This is deadly like the Huntress M2 M1 Combo.

What you want vs. Spirit is getting hit AFTER her power runs out. You get a free Sprint Burst and very much distance. Now she has to follow with 110% speed and you can tell by hearing when she uses her power again.

If you have a good team, hope they push through gens as fast as you can.

I solo queu, and when i have an optimal team, even a spirit is going to have a hard time.

  • xenotimebong

Do everything in your power to avoid the first hit. If you get hit you’re dead so your only option is to not get hit. And yes, I agree that “just don’t get hit” is terrible, extremely non-specific advice, especially against a killer with a small terror radius and the ability to phase out of reality.

Stay healed, run strong perks (DS and Unbreakable are basically required since most Spirits immediately phase back to the hook), don’t waste any time (you need to rush gens as fast as possible), pray you have a decent team, hope for a big map.

If you really really hate spirit with stridor, you can combine "No Mither"&"Iron Will" or "Off the Record"&"Iron Will".

But you can alternatively just work on your counterplay/guesses tho.

But if a spirit enters phase the chase tend to stop. And 50% is still super loud on charakters like Feng and Meg.

The locker tech might work, but sounds a bit toxic to me.

use spinechill avoid the first hit as much as possible if u play safely u can waste a lot of her time

It's a huuge help to Spirit. Ridiculous and feels cheap when I use it.

Hardcore Spirit main, increase the phase volume on the Spirit's side while she's phasing. Needs to be harder to hear them survs.

  • blue4zion
    blue4zion Member Posts: 2,773

One thing I will say that's really helpful against spirit is just play like a scary cat. Stop being cocky with her, and avoid chase as much as possible.

Be on edge when on gens, and pay attention to her when she stands still, there's a visible reset in her animations the second she leaves her body.

iron will + off the record for 200% of injured sounds removed

  • Ihatelife

You can't. Stridor counters Iron Will. Except you can use No Mither + Iron Will, but I don't think it is worthy for 2 slots.

  • Bovinity
    Bovinity Member Posts: 1,522

I still can't hear normal breathing even with Stridor, so oh well.

Actually, there are several sounds in-game that don't seem to come through for me. You can walk right into me and I won't hear footsteps, for example. (Except mine, as the killer! Boy, those are clunky.)

It's not my ears, because I can pinpoint someone through a wall in CS:GO if they so much as scope. Just something about the game and my setup I guess.

It's a counter balance to Iron Will. It's a fair perk and balanced...just maybe not on Spirit. Most good Spirits wont use it. Wasted slot in general.

Best way is to play Spirit and learn counter tactics by watching survivors try and mindgame you.

yeah they said they didnt want to fix the sound glitches because they were scared to break more
