Why can killers see our names in the lobbies?

You have a dodge list? Thats sad

To be fair, I would personally dodge players who love being toxic and sandbag ingame as Survivor.
There is a valid argument to having a ban list, PAYDAY 2 has it for a reason, but I don't think something like that would work when implemented into DBD. So it's more of a list you make yourself.

I wish survivor names would be hidden until end game scoreboard. On PS4 I'll go against the same killer in back to back matches, they'll tunnel/camp me if I prevented them from 4k in previous match. No toxicity, just only one to escape. :/

You are of course entitled to your opinion. Its not a long list. I only ad people when they've gone out of their way to be toxic in game to me, or are really toxic in end game chat after they've escaped / won.
I get people being salty in end game after a loss, that happens all the time. I can take that. Its poor winners who really grind my gears.

If toxic survivors could see the killer's name they would dodge 100% and remember any killer who was better than them. Nowadays you don't need a good reason to get into some survivor's "bad killer list". So good killers or killers that play only specific killers (like spirit or freddy) would be dodged and would have a hard time finding a game just because they are good. Killers though don't really dodge so survivors don't have this problem.
Judging by the amount of comments in my steam proifle coming from survivors I am sure that there's a big list of people that would never play against me if they had the choice just because I beat them. (Imagine having more than 200 posts of saying "-rep" and insults for all kinds of reasons) And I am sure there are killers who have pissed of much more people.
At the same time when I play survivor not A SINGLE KILLER has ever written something in my steam profile, showing that they don't really care that much. Though in post-game chat there were killers saying bad stuff about me or other survivors.

I think the main reason it is in is to help killers determine what gamertag is playing which character. Thankfully they did hide survivor ranks to limit lobby dodging. If names went away too I wouldn't mind it personally but that's just my opinion.

If you enter the in-match menu during the camera spin, you can see who's who that way too.
I mean, unless another Survivor is the same character as your Obsession. Then you're back to square one barring seeing lobby names.

As a survivor main, I'd be okay with BHVR hiding the player names. However, playing devil's advocate, I do see a reason why the killer needs to see the names. Say you are a killer running an obsession perk. Yes, you don't know who your obsession is while in the lobby. But, if you memorized the names that go with the looks, when you get into the match you will know which one of them is your survivor so you can avoid or pursue them appropriately based on your obsession perk. The alternative is that you have to hit them to find out, which can have a negative effect depending on the obsession perk.

No, you don't have to hit them. You see the claws moving. There is absolutely no reason for the lobby names to still be a thing in 2020.

It's a good way to make the killer feel like they are playing against humans and not bots and Imo they put it in without thinking about it too hard.
They prevent seeing the killer for an air of mystery and so you don't put in perks to counter (ie: Iron Will for Spirit, Calm Spirit for Doctor, Spine Chill for Ghostface, ect) but for survivors I just don't think the devs thought about it that much.
