Fix your match making - got 3 reds when im a green killer
Fix it.

Yeah, that happens a lot, especially if it was a SWF groups with 3 reds and a lower rank. They like to bully lower rank killers.
Of course it might have been 4 solos too, matchmaking is a raging dumpster fire right now.

dude rank literally doesnt matter lol. Do you know how many potato rank 1s there are? you should replace red ranks with swf. It doesnt matter though, soon everyone will see how pointless rank is when they hide your true rank so they can artificially inflate their playerbase. soon youll be ranked with the best sometimes and sometimes theyll be potatoes. but youll never know, because itll be hidden lol

Rank matters more than people admit. Yes, there are plenty of potatoes in red, but theres a gulf of difference between a legit green survivor and a legit red survivor. When im killer i can actually feel the difference between the two.

I agree that rank by itself doesn't matter, but the issue comes in where you, typically, run into boosted reds pairing with purples/greens/yellows to lower the killer they're against through most of the morning/early afternoon, and then suddenly after dinner it's all the good reds on. This is something I've tracked the last two times I burned out on DbD and stopped playing - I don't like there being a meta shift that's literally trackable by what time of day it is.
Matchmaking giving me the reds I run into in the morning and early afternoon are one thing, I can deal with them and have a good track record against them. If I play much later than when I'm typing this right now, I'm going to be absolutely lucky to get a brutal killer endscreen. If I'm against red ranks all day, then the stats would show I win against 50% of reds as a purple. But that's not actually indicative of where my skill level is. Which is why matchmaking is so broken.

Hey man,at least you are green and have actually played the game before. Not some rank 20 that popped the game in and didn't even put any perks on.

It does matter, yes there are potatoes at red rank but they still have played hundred of Hours so they have a good general understanding of the game. They also know a lot of maps and can loop somewhat decently. Against a rank 16-20 killer even a bad rank 4 is going to eat him up, and bad red rank survivors who can’t beat real killers will use this opportunity to bully and teabag.
So you want this to be someone’s first impression of that game? I don’t because I would prefer to see DBD grow. It had a great chance to score more players with Stranger things and it had another chance with Jason/alien/candyman whoever comes out next but if new players buy DBD for that and get 5-10 matches of not being able to catch anyone they won’t stick around.

Kind of a well known...I dunno what to call it because "myth" doesn't really fit...But it's always tossed around in the gaming community that the best players play in the evening or at night. Pretty much for any game. Might be some truth to it. A lot of the streamers and stuff stream in the evening, and people have certain responsibilities. I don't know if it's necessarily true, but I've heard it said many times on many different games. You didn't get to rank 1 doing absolutely nothing. Even if you only did two gens and nothing else, you would safety. So at the very least you won a ton of matches, and were dedicated enough to play said matches. If you are super horrible you aren't going to stay in the red for long. Are some not that much better? Of course. But some can be miles away. They might not even necessarily be good at looping, but they have their flashlight, and know every trick in the book.

its Very very apparent that SWF was changed back to go off of the lowest survivor instead of the highest and friends are using that to abuse killers again

You just know if this was switched and new survivors were getting carved up by rank 1 nurses and spirits there would be an uproar

Yup

Yes, it looks like it was reverted. If this was on purpose it was a really bad decision. I play both roles and have no problem to play against a strong killer, because I still can do some objectives, try looping and so on. But if I play killer and I'm not able to kill at least 1 survivor with nearly fair conditions, the role feels total wrong. The killer must be the power role. Most of the time it feels more like 1 cute Killer trys to survive a match against 4 evil survivors.

See, you say that, but, as was said above me, SWF goes to the lowest denominator. I've run into people where a red rank was queuing with their green rank friend, and honestly didn't see much of a difference between them in skill. I've played enough of the game I can tell, roughly, where people fall on the skill level, and green and red shouldn't feel equivalent. My last game today I got wrecked extremely hard by four legit red ranks on the new map. I haven't played it before as killer, only as survivor, so I was struggling from that perspective as well, sure. But at the same time, two games on Shelter Woods with me as the same killer, both with 3/4 red ranks, if I 4ked one extremely easily and 0ked with barely any hooks the other...that seems to imply there's more going on than the color of their rank. And I find the later I play, the more the "actually good" reds come out, which we seem to agree on.
I've been to rank 1 as a surv and a killer. Back in 2017 I'd consider myself a legit red killer, now I think I'm about purple, maybe green until I get the rest of the rust off of my play (so many whiffed hits lately...) Survivor? No way I'm actually a red. I cannot loop, I cannot extend chases to save my virtual life. I'm good at gens and not being found. If I'm found, I'm going on that hook fairly quickly. Unless it's a Nurse, then I can run for the length of the game (due to maining Nurse in 2017 and her nerf making the same tricks absolutely devastating to her now). But the point being, I don't belong in red ranks as a survivor, and yet I've been there multiple times. So rank doesn't imply skill after a certain point.

No one who understands the game thinks skill and rank go hand in hand, but you can’t honestly think a rank 16-20 killer against a team with even 2-3 red rank survivors is fair
1 -
Rank doesn't equate to skill, and the reason you play against red ranks as a green rank is because Killers don't play the game as much as Survivors.

Stop with the rank doesn’t equal skill, or rank doesn’t matter. A rank 20, 19, 19 killer against red rank survivors is a mismatch. Anyone who can’t admit that is probably just someone who gets their jollies bullying new killers with no regard for the long time life of the game.

Matchmaking rant thread #3526261
The devs are aware of the matchmaking issues and are currently working on a new ranking system.

I'm not necessarily going to disagree. I've made it to red as killer and I'm not that great. But I just happened to get a lucky streak where I was winning all the time. Now it seems like I can't do anything. Never get a 4k. But I also never drop below a certain rank when I get there. Like I might go from purple to green at worst. So your argument doesn't really account for half of mine.
If you are staying red consistently, you can't be absolute trash. You are either consistently winning,or at least doing the minimum requirements to safety. People can have bad games and unlucky streaks as well. Like I'm not the best at looping, but the other day I ran a killer long enough to pallet stun him 4 times, and for the team to get three gens on. Then he camped and whacked me over and over.
I'm not saying rank is the be all end all of skill. I'm just saying that it's not completely meaningless. Yeah maybe a team carried you,I can admit that's a possibility. Maybe you caught them before they deranked, whatever. Still had to get there somehow. If it was so easy, everyone would be red. I've killed reds, and I've seen reds that were so beyond my skill level it was obvious from the first chase.
Regardless,I just think it would be nice to have a new matchmaking system. Even if players are just getting the perception that they can't win because they are getting matched against high rank players,it's not good. Maybe not all the high rank players are the best, but there's post every day from newer players where it's becoming frustrating. Literally almost every day. I've only seen the shoe on the other foot one time. I was like rank 15 and it put us against a rank 2 Huntress.

Man I couldn't find the screenshot of when it made me go against a rank 1 Huntress as a rank 15,but this just happened a minute ago...
In my experience it almost always puts greens against greens or lower. I was getting ready to yell at the guy for being obviously boosted. I was like,no way this guy is a low/mid rank. Not even one gen on! Was ending chases pretty quick. Was good with the portals. Mindgaming. Only reason I didn't depip is because of healing and a few hook saves. I didn't stick around to see what happened because the other guys were hiding in lockers near the end. Only perk I knew he had for sure was ruin.

As you can tell, I had the time of my life playing against these 4, totally toxic, SWF, reds. The most toxic ("RABETA") I camped the ######### out in the EGC. I got to the point that I really don't care anymore, if I know that a match will be like that (And you can tell right away when the survivor is a god in the chase and suddenly 3 gen pop) I go for the toxic (or most toxic) one and camp him. How the F** can someone improve in the game when that shi* keeps happening every fuc* night. Untill the devs fix the goddam matchmaking I'm not even willing to play killer. At least not around this time in the night. The matchmaking is killing the game for new players, and It doesn't matter how much new content is created, without new players the game will end someday.
