Don't understand why people get so excited for new chapters
Because every update they just add more bugs into the game, most of which are just called "unintended feature" and left alone.

Its new content, and I understand that People develop this game, not machines. There will be bugs as with any release. I just like that the game keeps evolving.

Its like name to post inception....

chapter comes out and introduces some bugs, hot fix fixes most of the bugs, mid chapter patch fixes nearly all the bugs along with some old ones while maybe giving us something new.
and then the cycle goes on, as for bugs that are very old they aren't patched fast simply because they are either hard to fix or hard to locate.

People always get excited for new content in games. Anytime theres a new character/class/gamemode/ect introduced in an online game, its gonna cause some hype.
4 -
You don’t have to understand it. Everyone is different, some get excited and some don’t.
3 -
Most new bugs aren't enough to ruin the fun for me.
8 -
"hard" is not an excuse. You either don't bother testing or simply do not care

I usually get excited for licensed chapters, if I am familiar with the franchise.
If not, I usually try and watch some of the media associated with the character.
Luckily I am familiar with all the licensed chapters, except Stranger Things. So I binged all three series and enjoyed them.
I have also never played a Left 4 Dead game, and know nothing about Bill.

I'm going out on a limb here saying that you've never worked in development for a large company, even though you're likely about to claim you do and have never released a bug.
Relax, software is complicated and has bugs. A small QA team likely isn't going to catch everything that would come up once its released to the public.

Did you wake up today and think "Other people are happy?! Not on my watch!"
12 -
you act like NO bugs should accidentally be overlooked, bugs slip under the radar no matter how hard you look when you are restricted to a time limit to find them and once you do find them you might not have enough time to fix them which is why we have hot fixes. The reason they are so noticeable after release is because it's not 20(if that) people testing for bugs, it's thousands of people a day playing and coming across them.
Also unless you are working in some form of technology that requires programming you can't comment and call them lazy or whatever, from personal experience with learning to code in school and on my own time bugs/errors fly by you extremely easily and usually get replicated under a certain circumstance that you wouldn't have thought to test.

I don’t understand why you have to be a negative nancy

I wish the survivors weren't so vanilla. The killers have specific unique powers. The survivor gets 3 new perks (usually crap) but nothing specific to a survivor and ONLY that survivor. Survivors are like outfits with no advantage to playing any specific survivor.

People get excited for new chapters because without them dbd is stale with new chapters it does bring bugs yes but so does every patch its nothing new but new content is always an exciting thing for the game.

What does my personal opinion has to do with other people being happy?
1 -
Probably because they break the game more and more with every update and I'd rather want them to not release it with a ton of new bugs?
1 -
Why be a party pooper. If youre not excited dont try and drag the rest of us down with you
3 -
I'm not dragging anyone down. You do you.

How are they small? They have over 500 people working for them. There's a difference between bugs being overlooked or just leaving them in the game or denying that they exist. And a lot of those bugs are impossible to overlook like sound for example. Yet the update still gets pushed

🤣😂😁😄
4 -
Sure, but they have administrators, community managers, Developers, QA guys, sales people, all the things that make a business run. Thats not 500 devs, and its certainly not 500 QA guys, and they all don't work exclusively on Dead by Daylight.
Breaking down all those numbers, I wouldn't call their QA team that large. Either way, they're still going to miss some things.

It's because the devs plaster every new chapter as something big and exciting. It's all a ploy to try to hook new players and get old ones to return cause their game is in the ######### right now.
New player experience sucks for either side due to lack of players the same rank and MM
Hardly anyone is playing killer due to frustration and inbalance
Survivor is boring to play and the que times are bad
Most countries are in shut down due to corvid-19. Gaming is at an all time high right now. DBDs player basis should be higher than it's ever been but it isn't. That's bad. You can look up the steam charts and see a rise when a new chapter releases then it falls back down. This game isn't retaining many players anymore. That's why the devs hype up new chapters to try to pump more blood back into the game rather than closing the wound(fixing it)
Besides. We all know the new killer will probably suck at release and get nerfed anyway. The new killer and survivor perks will probably be niche or OP that they wil have to be patched to useless after enough people find out about it.

Once again it's an excuse. As the developer it is your responsibility to take care of those things

I suppose if its that big a problem for you, go play something else.
I for one applaud the ongoing work they are doing, and think they should keep on rolling.
Everyones allowed an opinion.

When did you check the Steamcharts the last time? Dbd is at an all time high in average players since its release, and is holding it for 3 full months now. As much as I personally hate Behaviour's business model, its workinfg very well for them comercially. The vast majority of the people will ALWAYS prefer new content over bugfixes/QOL chances for whatever dumb reason. Thats just how the world works. Consumerism sheeps everywhere.
1 -
I am excited for more Bugs!
1 -
If the vast majority prefer new content than I must be in the minority. Id prefer they fix some of the bugs and balance issues over a new broken content.
0 -
Because it's new content. Idk about anyone else, but I think the same ole things are a little lackluster after a while.
Also, people love this game and love to see its progression whether its positive (cool content) or negative (bugs, issues that can always be fixed)
5 -
I’m just excited for the killer :/
2 -
They are. And I simply stated mine
1 -
I’d rather have 500 new bugs than have a stale, dead game.
2 -
New content is the one thing keeping this game alive for most people, so the initial excitement of a new chapter is always gonna be a big thing. A lot of us have come to realise that there will always be a ton of new bugs in each patch. It isn't excusable in any way, but I can see past them, at least for a while because the new content is still keeping my interest.
1 -
Bugs always slip into games with updates. Idk how they could ruin your excitement for new content.
2 -
New perks means new combinations to test out and stuff. They have an ok (aka like 50/50) track record of making at least interesting perk (track record of genuinely good perks is much worse of course).
3 -
I think the problem is that some people think that new content is delaying bug fixes when the reality is more likely that the devs have multiple teams of people that focus on different things. One team is out fixing bugs while another team works on new content for the next chapter.
2 -
Anyone seen Happy? He could be a killer!
New survivor:
1 -
People get excited over new content because it keeps the game fresh. We’re just in a spell right now where the game feels really stale.
Whatever bugs that happen can be fixed and there is really no game breaking bugs at the moment besides sounds being completely screwed up :/
2 -
If you honestly think Bugs will stop people from having fun in games when new content are being added, then you obviously have never played a Bethesda game.
Or a game by Overkill.
Or a game by Ubisoft.
Or... ANY major game company.
Bugs will be prevelant in every game ever, the only reason we notice bugs more often in DBD is because we play it everyday. It's a PVP Live Service game akin to Fortnite or Apex Legends. Not saying they're the same, but they both have similar pulls to them. We're playing against other players and we like to see new things to face. Whether as a Killer or as a Survivor. Because without updates, this game can get stale really quickly.
Which is why the Challenges from the Archives are a huge welcome, because they keep giving us something to do. Same with the grind for the Rift.
I'm even giving myself stuff to do by making every character I own Prestige 3-50, and that will take a while and a whole heck of a lot of grinding.
But I do it because it keeps giving me something new to do, and I love this game enough to justify that.

Keep in mind, you'll never get updates for problems in games like DBD without new content coming out consistently. Updates aren't free believe it or not, they still have to fund the production of these on a tight schedule, regardless of new stuff coming out. Even those cosmetics we all love making fun of still cost money to produce. As long as they don't try to be shady and lazy about these updates * COUGH * Fallout 76 * COUGH * I don't have a problem with them making more stuff to play around with
1 -
You should play left 4 dead and it still alive in servers.
0 -
Because a new Killer is all we can hope for to spice things up anymore.
0 -
Because if you love a game you are allowed to get excited regardless of what hiccups it may bring.
Bugs will exist whether new chapters are released or not.
0 -
Except the part where they already got paid the moment people have purchased the game and you deserve a working product. I'd rather buy something made by Bethesda then BHVR. At least they gave refunds to people.
0 -
No they didn't. Bethesda tried to refuse refunds for people who hated Fallout 76 and got sued for it.
1 -
Lets not forget them trying to get out of scamming their customers of their canvas bags with 500 Atom Points. Which btw, if you accepted, you are legally binded to not sue them as that would've been "compensation"
1 -
Then they caved and decided to make the bag... which ended up doxxing a lot people because they're website is a buggy piece of crap. Don't even get me started on the helmet that quickly develops mold inside it.
1 -
I got a refund after 5 days for the game.
0 -
5 days isn't really much.
Steam has a max limit of 2 weeks for you to refund your game, it's basically common courtesy
1 -
That doesn't change the fact they still tried to intentionally rip people off and got sued for it. Also the false advertising, doxxing, making a stupid 100 dollar membership for a game that isn't free to play. Give BHVR crap all you want, at least they weren't stupid enough to just give people merch that develops mold after 3 months
