Can't y'all just be grateful?
The devs make a huge hype for the next chapter, don't spoil it, give plenty of red herrings on purpose clearly, and you guys are disappointed in the chapter? I don't even like Silent Hill but I'm happy they're bringing something they're so passionate about and that they even did this, the chapter looks excellent but there's people going on here complaining? Just congratulate them and be nice. Saying you're disappointed isn't going to change the chapter.
This said, FANTASTIC job on the fourth year! I'm so excited to see the new map reworks, play with my console friends, and play with the Silent Hill DLC, I don't even know much abt that game but I'm excited as all hell to see how it transforms the game.

People are allowed to be disappointed. Let them get their feelings out so they can view the new content objectively. The perks suck btw.

The perks were hardly revealed, the DLC is HARDLY in PTB and you're complaining? Man, just be mature. That's what this game is rated, anyways.

Loved the racism too towards some of the devs. This community is awful. Glad to see they turned off comments on the newest trailer tbh.

I like Silent Hill, but people are not obliged to be 'grateful'.
If they're disappointed, they're disappointed.
We don't have to be consooooomers who love everything a company releases. People have their own opinions.
Even though the chapter does look good...I'm disappointed. I was hoping for Jason or Pinhead. But oh well, life goes on.

Part of maturity is acknowledging that different people have different opinions, so I think we should be doing a bit more of that.

I understand that, I wish it was Jason too, I couldn't care less about Silent Hill, never was my cup of tea. But people should atleast learn to be mature about it. I go to the forum minutes after reveal to find many cases of the new killer being sh*t on already. It's saddening, I don't know how the devs maintain sanity sometimes.

This is true, but even if you are disappointed, that doesn't mean you are required to be ungrateful. People are already complaining about the new killer so immaturely.
But yes, I understand a bit of the letdown for some. Even then, there's a silver lining to everything but nobody wants to hear it anymore in this community.

Honestly, they seemed to be very happy about it. I'm mostly happy we got more than a singular killer this anniversary. I'm pretty sure the devs have a bigger liking to the Silent Hill franchise than most of us but it is clearly something they have a passion for and I think that they should be allowed to hype their happiness like they did. It was a great reveal, IMO. Was stuck looping the trailer for a while just in awe.

The launch was barely 15 minutes ago and there's whining. Please guys just enjoy the new content it doesn't come everyday.

For what it's worth, we didn't hype it. We put out exactly one news post saying that we would announce a licensed chapter during the 4th Anniversary stream and that's it. Any hype beyond that is not our doing.
That said, I'm not seeing a whole lot of negativity. Most people are either excited, or just a little disappointed that their prediction wasn't right.

I'm grateful people are hyped about the killer. When I find something else to be grateful for, I'd be happy to share it with you so you don't put me down for having a different set of opinions. Sometimes it's more important that we put hype aside, but I guess I can agree with you that this might not be the best time to do so(within an hour of release). Then again, this is when people's opinions are at their strongest.

I like the Silent Hill franchise. I also like the Resident Evil franchise. But if either were revealed as the new chapter, I wouldn't be as pleased as if we got Jason, Pinhead or even Alien.
Silent Hill is good, but not a mind-blower. But that's my opinion. I think Silent Hill is a great fit for the game, it's just there were other franchises I was hoping for. But not that bothered. Just feels like when I was a kid at Christmas and opened all my presents.

I'm happy with the new chapter, albeit really concerned with the new "Sould Guard perk".
I like the idea of crossplay, I love the graphics overhaul.
I won't lie, I was also expecting Pennywise or Jason, but I guess is just a matter of expectations. I was also expecting for them to show what they are doing to Clow, but I guess is nothing big now.
Overall, I'm looking forward to the new chapter. Pyramid head looks good.

Really? If someone told me to name a few horror game killers, Pyramid Head would be up there.
And who is the majority of players you are talking about? Unless you do a survey on everyone in the forums you can't say for certain that the majority don't think of him as iconic. A few vocal protesters does not represent the entire community. If you looked at the YouTube trailer you would see that it has way more likes than dislikes.
As for an "emotional" milestone, that depends on the person. If say Candyman was the next killer I wouldn't be emotional about it because I never saw the movies however other people would be. The new survivor can definitely be called "mysterious" from what I remember of the games.

I was expecting something like Pyramid head. WHICH when they said that it was going to be him I got super excited. The way they made the map look was amazing. And it's pretty big indoor outdoor map. What makes it nicer is that I can see it pretty 50/50 on both sides. Gens are a bit too close imo but it's a bit understandable.

Again, just because a few people don't know who the killer is doesn't mean that everyone agrees with that sentiment. It's a case of a vocal minority versus the silent majority. When you look at the new trailer on YouTube it has 41k likes compared to around 700 dislikes. It's seems people are excited for this chapter. The Silent Hill franchise has 8 games and a movie so it's not like it's a small series. To say that no one knows or cares about this chapter is objectively false.

I'm not apposed to what they have added, I'm just disappointed that they have been focusing their resources on drawing in new crowds won't new killers and what not when the matchmaking is still broken as can be. I think he'll (or she'll I really don't know the gender of Pyramid head or what it is) be a great addition... But I think that making sure the game is functioning as it should properly be a thing too. Can't tell you how many games I see red ranks mixed with people at rank 15-16.

I think you are confusing genuine disappointment with people who just spew hate for the sake of having nothing else to do.
I for one love Silent Hill, but I would be lying if I said I would have been just as excited if it had been Candyman. I'm certainly not going to call the devs out about it, but I can still be displeased by it.
For the record, expressing disappointment if done the right way can also be considered a good thing. It let's the devs know that not everyone is a fan and maybe look at what that group wants. I feel like the game is made for the fans anyway, so why wouldn't they expect some disappointment?

Silent Hill is an iconic game in the horror genre. Pyramid Head is (probably) the most recognizable entity from that franchise. I don’t see how BHVR is wrong for saying this would be an iconic license (if they did in fact say that).
