So smurfing is back again?
I recently got back to this game due to Silent hill collaboration so I'm back to Rank 17 and I was greeted with a SWF party immediately on my first game. Two red ranks and the rest are are in the white ranks clearly smurfing since these guys knows what they're doing.
I won with my rusty Oni but did they mess up the match making again? I thought it would match the party with the highest ranked survivor in the party? How did these guys get into White ranks again?

You do realise you are basically smurfing too? Because of rank reset, sure, but apparently the game gave you a fitting enemy.

There's not enough killers to go around to survivors just seemed to get matched up with any killer.
I wouldn't put it to smurfing, it's simply bad matchmaking thanks to an imbalance in the players in those roles.

It could’ve been swf smurfing but then again matchmaking has been the worst for about a month now. Hard to tell now lol.

Yes matchmaking is jacked up, and yeah as long as there are multiplayer games there will be smurfs

Even if the group were an SWF, it doesn't mean they were intentionally smurfing. I've been playing a lot on the official Discord channels lately and what I've noticed is that people create SWF rooms and then whomever pops in to the room, pops in. So you might have a room created with two red ranks and then in walks a rank 20. The group plays together, but didn't advertise for that rank 20 to join. Yes, there are some that do, but in my experience, I've only seen it once in the 3 days I've been playing on Discord like all day long.

I think a more accurate answer is smurfing never left. Thanks to the changes of rank reset people tend to stay in their rank ranges but there's nothing stopping someone from taking a 3 month break then coming back.

Was smurfing ever gone?
Smurfing exists in EVERY pvp game. It's something you can't get rid off. We just have to deal with it. All the devs can do is making playing on higher ranks against sweaty opponents more attractive. This will reduce smurfing but definitely won't eliminate it

- Smurfing never went away. I see rank 18 players with way too much skill to be rank 18. Ask if they are just returning and they respond with nope.
- Match making is so jacked up right now, you could be facing two red ranks, a green and a yellow as a yellow ranked killer and all are solo. Had a match as a rank 2 killer the other night and I faced a rank 20, 18, 18, 16. I figured it out fast when they were missing skill checks like crazy. I toyed around, let them get 3 gens done while I chased them around a bit and got hooks. Then finished it. Match making is a mess.

Sure we can pretend that this isn't a pressure issue and STILL present in the game.
I went back to playing Survivor again and the amount of times I got faced against beginner killers with three perks is astounding.
By the way the point is that I don't really care if I got faced with red ranks, Its amazing that's what you took out of my post. What I cared about is other people's experience.

Other people maybe don't got that much of a problem. The devs are backside-testing the MMR system at the moment, so that could be a reason for your specific case too.

The reasons behind that vary depending on which region you play on. I play on latin america and the community here sucks and is super petty and toxic, survs playing 4 man swf with rank 20 smurfs to bully low rank killers, brazilean twitch streamers are the worst, they suck at the game and are super toxic. 1 our of 3 games you get a killer with ebony mori that just moris everybody off 1st hook, the worst part is that the people who do these things are often terrible at the game and only do those things for the sole pupose of being toxic and ruin the experience for everybody, oh and let's not even talk about the chinese vpn players, that's a whole different story. And the overall skill level of players over here is horrible, before dedicated servers i noticed a wide range of people from different regions, ever since dedicated servers were added and we were forced to play with people from our own regions i really noticed how sucky people are over here.
