One solution: The survivor struggles to stay in the game versus being replaced by a bot who plays the rest of the game for the survivor.

This would allow the survivor to leave the game and the other survivors to continue playing without losing a survivor.

    I think they've already got bots on mobile, so could work. I know if I'm not having fun, I don't stay in the game. On either side.

    Bots would be good. I liked what I saw on the stream for the mobile. I hope they expand the bot feature to PC. But if they do, they need to do it for suicides AND disconnects, not just disconnects.
