BABYSITTER Perk Rework Idea

My idea for this rework comes from 3 points:

1) The perk currently is very underwhelming

2) It would suit Steve Harrington's character better based on the show

3) It would match the perk icon as well

My idea is:

Once per match, While healthy, use the active ability button to perform a dash forward that stuns the killer for 5 seconds. Upon stun, survivor becomes injured and broken for 120/110/100 seconds. If no stun occurs, survivor is exhausted.

Or

Once per match, While healthy, take a hit for a survivor that is being carried by the killer which causes the killer to drop the survivor and be stunned for 5 seconds, Upon taking the hit, you become the obsession and broken for 120/110/100 seconds

    5 is too much

I'll rather have it to 3 secs.

If I were to change it, I'll it have the current effects tripled for unhooked, aura doubled and give the unhooked person the haste status effect for 5/10/15

IDK this perk is really bad

I'm not against it but I agree that 5 seconds may be a bit long. I'm also reading it as a bit of a modified version of DS.

The only reason I say 5 seconds, is because it can only be used Once Per Match.

I feel like neither of these solutions would be a good addition to the game. You'd just be adding a mobile stun feature that could be abused to make getting hooks absolutely hellish for the killer. We already have flashlights for getting saves when other forms of stun (pallets/Head On) are not available AND Sabotage is a relevant mechanic again. If none of the above worked, there's also Breakout and/or bodyblocking to try and give the survivor enough wiggle time to free themselves.

I think it'd be fine if they just added a buff to its current ability. Way back when, Borrowed Time used to protect both the rescued AND the rescuer, what if that latter effect was given to Babysitter? I'm envisioning something like this:

Babysitter: When you unhook a survivor, that survivor leaves no scratch marks for 6/8/10 seconds (this is a buff from its current 4/6/8 sec). Both you and the killer see each other's auras for 4 seconds. Unhooking a survivor applies the Endurance status to you for 6/8/10 seconds.

Though I do think they should also slightly nerf the Endurance status to function like normal BT does, where 'Enduring' a hit would cause Deep Wounds.

First off, love the idea for the Endurance Nerf; making the mend action required

Second, I can understand your point. It would be very powerful; but that is kind of the point. The idea behind my suggestion is to fit with Steve's character in the show. SPOILER ALERT he kicks the creatures ass and none of his perks reflect that.

I'll extend an olive branch here:

Once per match, While healthy, take a hit for a survivor that is being carried by the killer which causes the killer to be stunned in place for 3 seconds, Upon taking the hit, you become the obsession and remain broken for the remainder of the match.

If you still don't agree, I understand. I just feel Steve deserved recognition. We can at least both agree that the perk needs a change, period.

Putting even more stun opportunities, esp. some which can be triggered so easily, is not healthy for the game at all. The killer is already on enough pressure to hook fast, esp. when we want the killer to "play fair" and not tunnel / camp. If you want to addd yet ANOTHER way to deny the killer a hook, it should come with a HEAVY price. Being broken for the remainder of the match is not much of a threat for skilled survivors. And esp in End game it's no issue at all. Then your new perks degrades to just another safe escape perk. So I say, make the bodyblock REALLY punishing:

While the killer is carrying another survivor, you are exposed. If you take a protection hit while healthy (which will put you into dying state), the killer will be stunned in place for 3 seconds and the survivor he's carrying is freed from its grasp.

This allows you to sacrifice one of your hook states for another survivor, and would come in handy when the one you save this way would have been dead otherwise. Thats a fair trade, the killer can now hook you and the other surv gets a last chance. Or the killer decides to tunnel, bad luck then. But then he will waste more time chasing again instead of just picking you up for hook.

This could work to well with DS, I gotta admit. But it actively hinders mettle of man from working as long as the killer always accepts your tradeoff (you could only pull that off 3 times until being sacrificed).

That is a solid change! I would be down for the exposed status effect.

    So it would be:

While the killer is carrying a survivor, you are exposed. If you take a protection hit while the killer is carrying a survivor, the killer drops the survivor and is stunned for 5 seconds. Once you take the protection hit, you become the obsession and remain broken for the remainder of the trial. The perk then deactivates.

I left the obsession / broken / only once part out to make it possible for you to use it more than once. I added the healthy condition to limit the amount of saves this way to three (under normal cirucmstances). Since you are acutally sacrificing yourself, i find it's ok to have in proc more than once in a match. And since you likely use one health sate, I feel putting another burden on you is not necessary (although being broken would probable not do much regardless, since you will be hanging on ther hook). The healthy part is required to avoid situation where multiple survivor with the same perk doing protection hit stuns repeatedly.

I still very strongly believe that a mobile stun like this would be very bad for DbD (its why I would also personally like for DS to lose its own stun in favor of drastically shortening the wiggle meter). Like I said, flashlights are the only "stun" that's available anywhere at anytime, and it only blinds the killer.

Stuns that affect (and animation lock) the killer are tied to specific objects on the map like lockers and pallets, giving killer the opportunity to try and avoid them or play around them.

This is a very powerful stun effect that is not particularly situational (killer will usually down and pick up survivors in every match). Killer also has NO WAY to know that it is in play until it's already been used. Even as a once-per-match effect, this is basically a second (and possibly stronger) DS. I guarantee that almost no one is going to continue playing killer if they have to play against both of these perks simultaneously; I know I wouldn't.

The whole point of Babysitter in DbD is that you are helping a teammate by drawing the monster to yourself. I think just adding a little more protection to the rescuer would be enough for it to be a viable alternative/supplement to Borrowed Time, but still counterable by Make Your Choice. Because of the dual protection that such a combo would provide, it would also allow survivors to work around a lot of forms of camping without pure "hook trading".
