So, is Silent Hill lore legit here?
If you know Silent Hill it's pretty much built on symbolism and rather deep and emotional lore. (Silent Hill 2 is the prime example.) It's pretty much the reason why the franchise has so many fans.
Do we have here any new clues about the overall Silent Hill lore in Dead by Daylight? Or is it just a bunch of references?

It's about as lore accurate as a crossover can be really. Not the point, but they didn't ignore it. Also brings a pretty interesting theory on why James is replaced with Heather.

It's easy to associate any character's lore with DBD: After character is chosen/taken/or just walks in to the fog...they were one place...and now they're in another place.
It's cool to think about a character dying and be plucked on the verge of death, their soul awakening in the fog.

I almost got confused. Especially seeing that Pyramid Head was protective of Cheryl in Silent Hill 2. However, reading the backstory on dbd it makes sense why he is now part of the entity.
The entity gave him a new role. Punish the survivors.

Lol okay, I just finish watching both films for the first time. I prefer the first one than than second. The second one felt rushed.
I only mention the second film because I was curious about Pyramid Head a character. He doesn’t actually seems like a villain.
As I mention, I’m guessing he someone who follow orders that are given to him.

@Iceman Na, the original pyramid head is basically the most twisted and darkest version of the main protagonist in the second game. he represented his anger, sexual aggression, and masochistic tendencies. hes the characters greatest mistake and biggest punishment and its all of his own creation. One thing to know is that the movies do very little to actually follow the lore of the original games. the first is a very loose retelling of silent hill 1 with a gender swapped main character and the 2nd one is just garbage that follows loosely and I do mean loosely the plot of the third game and only used pyramid head because of how iconic he is to the series, ignoring the fact that it makes absolutely no sense for him to protect Cheryl considering what he represents at a very base level.

And to the OP, I believe the lore on silent hill remains the same, the entity took PH to punish people, not completely sure, just a small theory

Yeah, I probably wasn’t even walking when the game came out. Plus I wasn’t even playing horror games when I was younger. I would watch. Playing horror games is worse than watching movies for me.
Thanks for the clarification as well. This was great marketing for Silent Hill franchise because now I’m interested in what else is in store in the future.

If you haven't played Silent Hill 2, I highly recommend it. You need no knowledge about the rest of the series or the larger story and the story and atmosphere are almost without equal in any game before or since. The graphics are definitely dated and the gameplay is stodgy (intentionally, however), but the experience is 100% worth it. It's simply one of the deepest stories written for a video game, ever.
Plus it's spooky as hell. I didn't beat the game until 8 years after it had released. Couldn't get through that apartment complex without whimpering and turning the game off.

And I'd just like to say as a fan of every licensed property in DbD I am EXTREMELY glad the game respects continuity and treats itself as the visiting factor into their lore rather than vice versa. I find it to be respectably humble and innovative of your staff and writers and I appreciate the effort. As another member posted above, I am a big fan of the character plucked at death into another realm plot device because it does nothing to disturb the timelines and realities of those stories while expanding characters via new lease on life. Dead by Daylight, unlike so many other sources of media and entertainment, ACTUALLY feels like a BY FANS FOR FANS project. I love the game, the teams behind it and the community around it.

I would also check out SH1 and SH3 too. Plus the dlc has a SH1 map with tons of Easter eggs like Alessa crying in the toilet room. Also Heather (SH3) is the survivor.

Oh, totally. If you have the time and the ability, play each of the first three! SH1 still oddly holds up despite being a PS1 game. They'll provide you with a canon explanation of why the town is as messed up as it is. Plus Harry and Heather are great protagonists.
