Any way we can get a Hispanic survivor?
I hate to be that guy. I really do. I've been gaming for 30 years ish and have only played as 3 Hispanic characters I can remember.Well, that's excluding games where they are just flat out bad guys that run some kind of cartel,ha.
I usually wouldn't ask for it,and I don't particularly mind playing as any sort of character regardless or race, gender,or orientation...I just think it would be kinda nice. Maybe could have a killer that has something to do with Hispanic lore (yes, there are a few creatures and stuff).
I'd love to see what the devs would come up with. I really enjoy some of their designs for the characters. Kate is probably one of my favorites,I really like her tattoos. I do applaud them for having such a varied cast as well. Was just a thought. I don't get to see my people in games very often as non bad guys.

i believe jane romero's actually hispanic, but they could definitely do more. I'd love to see la llorona or a chupacabra come to dbd.

Street Fighter Crossover!

New Survior: El Fuerte

I was under the impression Jake was hispanic.
8 -
You mean like Jane Romero?
18 -
Jake is apparently modeled in the likeness of (former, it seems like?) Behavior employee Alex Lin, who is Asian.
3 -
Oh, he didn't look asian at all to me.
0 -
I was going to say. Park is usually a Korean American name. His Lunar New Year outfit makes him look like Bruce Lee.
1 -
Really? Jake Park didn't look Asian, just based on his surname alone?
1 -
Supposedly Jane Romero Is From Brasil,it was stated before Her Dlc Came Out,Could be wrong Too
1 -
Nope, his surname doesn't seem asian to me either and I lived in asia.
0 -
It's a Korean surname. Quite popular, from what I understand.
OP, how about Ace Visconti? He's an Argentinian of Italian descent.
1 -
wasnt Ace argentinian tho.
1 -
Could be, just never seemed like a popular one from my interactions.

Is she though? Her mother's name threw me off I guess? Maybe she's of mixed race because it talks more about her mother than her father. It'd be nice if it was more obvious then,I suppose. Most of them aren't as vague,Zarina,Yui,Feng, etc. Those are more identifiable. If she's Hispanic that's cool though. And both of those would be awesome, and pretty much what I was thinking lol.
0 -
That's what I said. Yes I'd say it's a really popular Korean surname. I usually see it with Korean Americans.
1 -
He doesnt sound like an argentinian.

How to know if Jane Romero is Hispanic:
- Look at her name.
- Look at her face.
- Google "Hispanic surnames".
- Google "Hispanic woman".
3 -
Park is an Asian surname?
I thought with his cosmetics they have him look like multiple ethnicities not just Asian, figured he had a mixed background.
0 -
how it doesnt sound? is not lkike they speak or anything. is about the lore, he could be italian but is not certain.
0 -
Well,I mean I guess I can see that sorta. Just with a mother named Loretta Lawrence,I would assume otherwise, but it could be a stage name,or like I said maybe she's of mixed race. Neither Jane nor Romero sounds particularly Hispanic to me. Of course I have an super common American first name and a super Hispanic last name.
0 -
Yes, Park is an Asian surname; specifically, Korean.
3 -
Jane is fairly nondescript, but Romero is definitely Hispanic. According to Wikipedia, about 0,43% of Spanish people have that surname and it's the 20th most common.
2 -
Yeah I actually didn't know that until I just read his thing. That's pretty interesting to be honest. Maybe a better question would've been "Can we get a more obviously Hispanic character" and that's my fault. Like there's survivors were you can tell their roots just by seeing this name, let alone their story and model. I appreciate you letting me know about that one though. I find the story very interesting. His whole deal kinda makes sense now.
0 -
Well idk people here that sound like him, maybe its the VO Accent,Cause im pretty sure Ace's VO isnt Argentinian
But Maybe He is Italian who knows
0 -
Well I mean who am I to argue with Google? The only two I've ever seen was George Romero, and Cesar Romero, one of which is definitely Hispanic,so yeah. Like I said her mother's name threw me off. I'm also not sure why they paired her with a killer like that. Not saying they all make sense, but yeah, that's my mistake.

i mean they could add people from south america like brazil wich has the biggest player base in south america or from argentian of course.
0 -
None of their voices really sound like what I would imagine, being honest. But his story says he has sharp Italian looks and started off as a poor boy from Argentina.
3 -
The source is actually the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (National Institute of Statistics).

A luchador survivor ready to wrestle a killer is something id want to see lol
1 -
A lot of people here seem to think Jane is Hispanic, but her lore says: "She can play any female role, lead or support, and yet she only gets auditions for the “Spicy Latina” or the “funny immigrant” or the “waitress with an accent,” never just… woman… American."
If we're to take her Archive to heart (since it is the lore BHVR set for her), this is either a case of Latinx (I believe that's the right all-encompasing term, someone please correct me if I'm wrong) looking very similar to Hispanics OR she's not Hispanic.
That would mean we still need a Hispanic Survivor, along with a Native American, Pacific Islander and South Asian (as the Asian Survivors we have are Eastern, and the difference can be pretty large).

Sorry I wasn't being sarcastic lol. I believe you. Just saying I've been Hispanic my whole life and only heard the name twice. I don't think George Romero was Hispanic. I know Cesar Romero was. I mean 20th popular isn't that high anyways so that could be why. I always assumed it was Italian for some reason,so I do appreciate the info.

With Jane and Ace he must mean SPANISH from Spain
Would be cool a brave bullfighter with agressive fight back perks and not the useless cr4p we got recently
1 -
I wouldn't even mind that to be honest. At least it includes something from our culture.
0 -
I mean yeah, maybe that would've been a better way to word it. I just though Ace was straight Italian and didnt want to assume Jane was Hispanic just because she's thick in the backside. Plus shes paired with a Babylonian killer. So yeah,Spain,Mexico,Puerto Rico, whatever. I mean we have Yui paired with a killer that makes a lot of sense. I just don't see my people represented much,or in a very good light.
Like I said I can only remember three Hispanic main characters (I'd argue the games themselves weren't even very big titles),and the rest were like gang members or cartel, etc. I don't mind when people ask to see someone of a specific race or gender until they ask the wrong way. And I have no problem with any of the characters on an aesthetic level. Just thought it'd be cool to see.

I personally don't like the Latinx term, but yes that's correct. That's also a very interesting point and observation. I know some of the Middle Eastern players are pretty dedicated and willing to go to decent lengths sometimes to play the game. So I wouldn't mind seeing them represented as well. I know they also have their own myths and stuff within their culture.
I love Kate's design, but if I had to pick a favorite survivor it would be Feng Min,then Claudette a close second. So I have no problem playing as someone that doesn't look like me,and I actually quite enjoy it at times. It's just that I almost never see it,so I thought it would be cool.
Street Fighter might be sorta cliche with their depictions, but they definitely have people from all around the world and you can usually tell where they are from without some story. So I counted that as one of three times I saw a Hispanic main character. The other two are from GTA:The Ballad of Gay Tony and Shadows of the Damned. Their might be more, but those are the ones I recall that were most obvious.

Feng and Yui aren’t voiced by Asians either.
0 -
I already know that, and they made a good job,its just that Ace Doesnt Sound Very Argentinian,At least For me
0 -
Ace is of Italian descent, but he was born in Argentina, and is therefore Argentinian.
2 -
Ace is from Argentina.
4 -
I'm 90% sure they weren't being serious lol
0 -
Really? Aside from his surname, his eyes are a dead giveaway for him being Asian to me.
2 -
A La Llorona inspired killer named The Banshee would be so sick!
2 -
Jake is Korean. Believe it or not Park is a Korean-American surname
1 -
Well, that makes a bit more sense
1 -
And I'm 100% sure it was unnecessary and added nothing to the conversation,ha. There's always gotta be that one. Kinda ironic since I'm actually disabled. Oh well. I'm not the type to get offended, although that's usually the type of person that would ask for something like I did.
0 -
I thought he was native american 😂
0 -
Yes!
0 -
Yeah man, definitely. Has potential at least.
1 -
Same! I swear to god there was some piece of media that mentioned he was half Native American, but I could be wrong. I wanna say it was one of his yellow cosmetics.
1 -
I'm well aware of what they were doing.
