Block ranks 16 to 20 please!

Yesterday, again, 5 games in a row as a rank 1 surv vs rank 16-20 killers...

New players need a better experience to decide to stay in the game... Now, that's the problem, I think I might have a solution:

  • Block de ranking past rank 15, meaning experienced players can only get as low as rank 15.
  • Block matchmaking for rank 16-20 players so that they ONLY face players in those ranks regardless of how much time they have to wait for a match.
  • Create a "practice" mode (not custom match) for killers and survivors in which you can only enter if you're a grey rank.

About the second solution, please have in mind we already wait a lot for a match, imagine being new, waiting a lot and facing red ranks in your first experiences... Now change that for waiting a lot but facing a fair match against newcomers like you.

Opinions?

Maybe the practice mode only gives you BP but it doesn't affect your rank regardless of how you did in the match

This could add a lot too, the restrictions I mentioned + double BP could help new players stay, funny thing is we're asking for something to help others, not our role or rank per se. Hope this gets read

Your looking for casual and ranked modes

Tbh that doesnt really work because you can't split the mode and choose who plays it. Super sweatys still enter casual que if only to know they will win

All of this is stuff that the new system aims to fix, as I understand it. We should only need to endure the terrible matchmaking for another month at most.

I hope so, if they fix it before releasing the new killer (that will bring new players in) it could help the number of regular users to really grow

It's quite disheartening for a new player for sure, but the same happens on the survivor side too. I've seen many SWF teams use the same low ranked players to go against new killers just so they can get an 'EZGame', and again, teaches the new killer nothing beyond that they had zero chance of winning. I really do hope the new MM fixes all these things!

Yeah, the intent behind the nature of matchmaking for new killers is extremely confusing.

If you're 16 you'll see red ranks almost every game some nights. It's very strange.

Even if they just banned red ranks from being in matches with any 16-20 anything that would be good. Heck just completely preventing red from matching with brown and yellow would probably be good. Not that it's fun to endlessly red rank for greens either but atleast they stand a minimally better chance. Green tends to be a big sticky point for killers. They have to be skilled enough to be a red rank killer to get into purple for the most part. Probably why so many red rank survivor matches are against greens and bellow

I, quite literally, started playing two days ago, and was rather disheartened to find a lack of a casual mode or a practice/ai mode, especially since going into a match immediately after the tutorial and finding myself paired with people who have already played a fair few games had me fumbling a bit. I've learned as much as I can in that short window of time (It helped I had been watching the game for years), but I think it would be cool to see at least a practice mode, where players like me can try and test things out without the pressure of being paired with higher ranks and getting absolutely rolled haha!

What about rank 13? Or rank 10? I really see no difference between them all. They hold W whole game and then get (or not) lucky with noed. ZzzZzZz

As opposed to survivors holding m1 whole game and then get (or not) lucky with (*insert perk here that can be countered). ZzzZzZz

    You cannot de-rank past 15.

I agree, there needs to be some kind of practice mode, beyond Custom which requires at least 1 other person to join. I started playing about a year ago now, and my first few matches were terrible. I had no idea what to do, where to hide or anything. I kept messing up skill checks which angered the other players, and I didn't quite understand about the use of pallets. Of course, the more you play, the better you get, but having a safe area to at least practice without the pressure of messing up and having to wait again would be better.

Yeah, 16 is the intended floor.

Oddly enough, I logged in a couple days ago and was 17, which confused me.

Did this get changed? Outside of season rollover, it used to be impossible to de-rank past 15.

I had a thread post about that, I'll just plug it here(https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/152922/low-rank-change-proposal#latest) in case anyone would like a read through.

But the gist of it was that ranks 20-18 became a sort of tutorial rank, rank 17 would be the new lowest rank you could ever depip to, even if you stopped playing for several months. The concept was going to tie in with another post I've yet to make, and I probably won't make because the MMR update might actually fix a lot of the issues we have.

Thanks for the comment, this means it's not just y perception as a red rank

Happened to me, I left the game for 3 months as rank 1, came back to be rank 18, I don't know if it was a bug, but it did happen, and grinding back to 1 was horrible...

Oh, that's probably just the result of cumulative rank resets over those months.

I mean I just logged off at 16 a couple days ago and logged back in 17. Doesn't seem to make sense.

Block deranking past the color you are currently in.

I've had at least 5 games of AFK killers trying to derank. Twice was the same guy, he was rank 7 the first time and rank 9 the second, implying he's been doing it for over 15 matches. I reported him but so far nothing which is BS. It shouldn't be a thing honestly, it's actually impossible to legit derank THAT much, anyone that does it is clearly doing it on purpose.

Latest tests, popped up to 14 since folks were saying that its just 16-20 that has the weird, broader matchmaking.

First game of the day, short queue. 1, 3, 11 were all SWF. Not sure about the 6.

We all know it's just busted across the board, but there's definitely the behavior of matching against the lowest rank survivor in a lobby. Been doing this for days now.

Yesterday, again. I went vs 3 rank 20 killers one after another... ALL OF THEM without perks or addons.
