Killers has too high an entry ceiling for new players. Here is my proposal. Feel free to add.

First off, I am fairly new with only 22 or so hours In the game. I play mostly survivor and only 4 games of killer, all Hill billy, and first 2 matches zero kill. Next 2 1K.

I feel far more stress playing as killer, and I think I am not alone.

lets compare survivors vs killers.

survivor play in group, so you have support of 3 other players and doesn’t feel as stress. Killer is a solo experience and you have no one to help or guide you.

killers are uniques and each requires time to get well. Some more than others. Survivor are more interchangeable. Perks downplay a part but less impactful compare to mastery of killer powers.

so what’s are my propose?

some possibilities , from best to less good

1) Matches with bots to train like overwatch. Allow killer players to get comfy with their power and gain confidence. I would even go as far as say allow them to unlock until level 15 playing with bots to get them started with 4 perks. But after that additional levels must be earn via pvp. Bots already exist in mobile version. So it’s shouldn’t be that Hard to transfer in my opinion to consoles and PC.

2) simple tutorials tailored to each Killers to train their power and timing etc. need most time to implement, but will be very helpful.

3) Free roam solo any maps. Much simple to implement consider we already has custom maps. Just allow us to solo ( as either survivor or killer)

I think bot games would be interesting but it would probably take a lot of programming to make it work properly. I do think a killer tutorial for each killer or the ability to free roam a map just to get the feel of the powers on each killer would be neat. I feel like if matchmaking worked properly and put you against players that it should, the game would be much more friendly towards new killers.

All three things you have described in the original post would be great to have. The onboarding situation in this game is one of the most mismanaged things I have ever seen in a modern video game, and it would benefit greatly from more robust and player-friendly tutorials. The option to free-roam maps as a solo player would be AMAZING; I wish you could just start a custom game with only one player in the lobby, and do exactly this.

Maybe killer isn't for you. The difficulty is exponentially in killers favor vs new survivors who can't loop, and then they get a wake up call when they encounter people who can play the game and proceed to bring noed and a Mori into every game. Play more than 4 trials you'll catch on quickly.

The actual tutorial should be more detailed, teach survivors looping, teach killers mindgames, teach the players about situations where they can pallet save, teach flashlight saves, teach killers Powers separately, and how to use them. There's a LOT that they ought to add. It could slightly ease the new player experience if they know what they're going into.

This post isn’t about me. Also I was matched with survivors 5 rank or more than me, and this could happen to many new killer players too.

i have no issue learning, but I am fairly sure many wouldn’t. There is clearly a poor killer/ survivor Ratio issue in DbD, and anything to encourage people to play killer is win/win for everyone

I always get a kick out of how survivors will run every single second chance perk under the sun, but a killer daring to run something that counters second chances is a big noob who can't play. 😂

Yeah I agree that your ideas would help a lot. If not bots, at least the ability to go into maps and learn the loops.

Sadly, at the moment all I can suggest is maybe learning from content creators, and the harsh punishment of being beaten until your get more familiar with the killer.

    Good luck :)

I think all of these ideas are great but I would put the bot rank at 18.

As for killers, Billy is one of the hardest to learn. Trapper, Wraith, Doc are all really good beginner options as is Freddy if you can afford him

A lot of people recommend playing survivor for at least 200 hours when you first start. I think you should do that

I agree with OP. The game advertises both positions, and i dont think you should have to ignore a role (that many people BOUGHT THE GAME FOR) because it is so unfriendly and clearly more.difficult for new players

is truth but i suggest u to try survivor first is easier youll understand survivors routine of looping and with survivor points u may consider to waste some points on an easy killer to use like trapper for example or i suggest to buy freddy wich is insanely easy to use instead of doc becasue doc requires some skill to use his power properly freddy can just place fake pallets or spam ssnares and will work most times or maybe u can start with wraith wich can hide his terror radius and is kind of opressive agaisnt new survivors who rely too much on sounds.

but first survivor then killer, killer is harder and requires map knowdelege also you are not allowed to make as many mistakes as survivors. by learning survivor u can learn killer aswell u will make more points aswell because you are strugglign with killer it seems, otherwise killer would provide more points and i suggest aswell to buy leatherface to get Barbacue and chilli for the double points, is one of the most important perks to get when u are starting with the game due the grind being so big.

Not to mention people with any type of disability, especially hearing issues or colorblindness.

It would certainly help the new player experience a lot. Hell just having a way yo just practice things like billy curves would help even older players. I approve of all the suggestions.

I appreciate the tips, I may look into Freddy & doc.

Anyway, I think the game should be design such that you can play from get go as Killer or survivor with similar entry ceiling. This will improve I think both numbers of killer & overall userbase.

In overwatch, fornite, there are free roam, user create training modes to help players learn & improve etc. YOu can play with bots in CoD, test the guns etc.

Overwatch, I can test new heros with PvBots modes to get comfy before getting into real PvP. This make the entry to new characters so much easier.

I think every PvP game should have some form of training mode., & most have for good reason.

I'm a red rank killer hbu?

Got there by killing survivors during the trial, 3 hooks each.

    mmmm cookies.

I think it could be fun to have a simulator or bot type matches for both sides to get folks started. :) Good idea.
